    I love the look on his face .....lol He looks so worried lol . "Hi" I've been building models all my life ,...more since I retired . I'm a retired signwriter , I have back problems witch slow me down ,...so I keep my eyes open for things that I can do . The Lion would look great on my wall. . I live in a country town in Australia ,...so I'll have to see if I can get the bits I need. Your a good teacher .........Cheers

    WOW! This lion mask is magnificent!!! I love the paint job that you did on it - very realistic. The tablecloth was an excellent choice because they sell raffia at our Dollar stores here in Canada and maybe even Walmart. But the pkgs are small and the raffia is bent:folded and very stiff. Your tablecloth is definitely a better choice. My very best to you.

    Both of your masks are amazing, like the rest of your creations. I have a little broom that hangs in the bathroom which is made of similar material and my cat Boo loves to play with it!

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wonder what sets them off? I had just one six-inch piece in my studio, and the cat found it! (A broom would make a great lion mane, wouldn't it?) :)

    What an artist you are! Thank you so much for your inspiring videos. I binge watch them over and over as I work on various projects in my craft room. Your are a comfort to me and I hope someday to share a project with you. I have been researching (over the years) how to craft realistic turtle shells from paper mache and that is how I found you. Any advice would be great. Thanks so much. Christine

      Gosh - thanks! Did you see the turtle I made? It isn't a museum piece by any means, but it was a lot of fun. It was an experiment, as most of my projects are, but it still came out OK. th-cam.com/video/hrNSCNr2S5Q/w-d-xo.html

    They were selling the leon & leona each face size 20" cube by 20 $.

      I didn't turn on the video camera when I put my lion together, but the pattern comes with a photo of each step. As I mentioned in the other comment, be sure to contact me directly so I can actually see how you're putting the pieces together, and that will be much better.

    Hi Joni, I am enjoying your videos very much. I was growing one today and you showed a paint brush that someone recommended to you. It had two sets of bristles and it showed the paint strokes like fur. Can you remember the name of the brush and where I can buy one for my craft items? Thank you

    • @UltimatePaperMache

      My daughter recommended that brush, and I love it. It's called a 3/4" filbert 'grainer.' You can see what it looks like here, on amazon.com (affiliate link) amzn.to/3tJGr3E

    I love the Lion with raffia. Is it necessary to create the helmet style and then cut off the excess or will there be enough room to glue the raffia to the mask if I just make the wall mask version?

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Timothy. You don't need to create the helmet portion. I just did it that way so I could show him as a helmet mask, and then hang him on my wall without making another one. Have fun!

      I haven't used any commercial clay recently except for the DAS Modeling Clay. It isn't the same, but it worked OK.

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a piece that goes on the back, near the top. You can drill or cut a hole in it, and hang it on a nail. That's how I do it, but there might be a fancier way to do it. 😊

  • @crystalm4324
    @crystalm4324 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    But can you show us how you put the pattern together and sculpted it?

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gosh - a training video showing how I made the patterns would take ages to make, and I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch it. For a short version: I work for up to a month to create each pattern, starting with the original sculpture made with WED clay. Then I make a silicone mold, and use the mold to make many paper mache copies. I cut the paper mache into pieces, scan them, and then trace around them using a Linework layer in Paint Tool Sai. I print the pattern, cut it out of cardboard and tape it together. I keep the bits that actually look like the original sculpture, (if any of it does - it's a lot harder than it sounds) and make new pieces by making more copies, cutting them apart, etc. It's not the way you would do it if you only want to make one sculpture.
