Muhammad Ibn Wahab a few centuries earlier was a Saudi Scholar Who raised his voice against Bid'ah (Innovation) and Shirk which Culturally or Socially came in to Practice in Muslim Societies and area's. Mostly Sufi practices which were not In Quran or the authentic Hadith, but they started to practice these innovations as attributed it to what Islam teaches. While Worshiping Allah ﷻ is a sensitive matter, we as Muslims can not Worship on our own desires and thoughts, but the method told to us by The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) given by Allah. So He Started Dawah against such customs amd innovations that these are not from Islam and you should abandon them. Those that oppose him and those who follow him being called Wahabi by the those people. May Allah ﷻ keep our hearts steadfast upon His deen and the haqq and May He have mercy upon us all. Aameen.
