    Leeds fan here. Re the atmosphere section - I think our terrace culture has a thread that runs back to the 1970s and how the media gave us the moniker of "Dirty Leeds". It's passed on to each subsequent generation that we're not liked, and this was obviously the case in the 80s/early 90s when hooliganism was at its height and our fans were famous for it. I was only 9 when I first went to Elland Road in 1993, but the atmosphere has always been our biggest feature. I've been to other grounds but nowhere comes close, and I really think the hatred we get from all sides has cemented an almost siege-mentality over the years, home and away. We love that we're hated, never ignored. We trade on our reputation and take great pride in how well earned it is. Of course we wish we'd been more successful over the years, but hand on heart the thought of becoming oil-rich overnight and turning into a golf-clap crowd like Man City has me filled with dread.

      @timphillips9954 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No you can't compare the atmosphere of the 1970s to today's, it was a totally different experience. What Leeds have is a very young fan base with very few families or even women / girls or femails attending which like it or not adds to the atmospher.
      For me talking about atmospher in the PL is a bit pointless. Going to the football today is more like going to the movies than a sporting event. Like it or not the PL is following the North American model of burgers shakes taking your mother, girlfriend and a bag of popcorn to the game.

      Actually, I quite like Leeds and I remember the 'Dirty Leeds' tag from the 70's in Don Revie's days of management. The likes of Norman Hunter and Billy Bremner. If you managed to walk off the pitch after playing them then you probably hadn't competed as much as you should have. Great fans and always a great atmosphere with a great traditional ground unlike some of the modern bowls you visit these days. You're great to watch and good luck for the rest of the season, from a Villa fan.

    Leeds fan here. Really interesting! Aside of your overall rating (stay over next time - enjoy a Leeds City weekend experience), you were very fair. Our stadium is one of the oldest, but we love the old girl and it will also be updated soon. If it's any consolation, the concourses and food/drink staffing are just as bad for the home fans - we've been complaining for years about it. Look forward to you visiting next season (fixture list - bonfire night - guaranteed!)

    love you vlog. im a Leeds fan and i was there in 90. though not battling with anyone. too hot and too drunk for that shit. also i got run over after the game trying to climb on a lorry lol. The West Stand that the away fans go is the oldest stand in the premier league so i believe, it dates back to the 60's and im sure you understand after 16 years in the mire we couldnt replace it. end of next season it should be replaced if we dont go down. They are planning to build the top tier first around the existing stand then when thats complete do the bottom section and the fans go up top so we dont lose any capacity

    You mentioned the Leeds fans standing all the time behind the South Stand goal next to the away section . We do the same behind the North stand goal too. It's not something that was easy to achieve and it took several years of club vs fans strife over it and there were many appeals by the club not to stand ,then ejections then a closure of the bottom tier but the fans wanted a 'singing section' and by our persistence we achieved not one but 2 singing ends which must be unique.

    As a Leeds fan I’ve always thought being in the away end must be horrible with the views etc, our fans will admit the stadium needs a lot of work. The west stand needs rebuilding and we have a long way to go in terms of in stadium refreshments (the pints are shite as an example). I appreciate the honesty, but can't agree at a 3rd tier ranking. Sorry but the atmosphere is key to any football match.
    We cannot help the fact our stadium is aging, and it is due a major redevelopment, which is in progress.
    I'd say bare minimum for a football experience Leeds should be at least 2nd if not 1st tier. You said it yourself the atmosphere is going to be hard for any team to beat, but to then knock points off because it's not the best pint and a pie you've ever had and had a longer queuing time, if you are going to a stadium for the grub you have your priorities wrong.

    I was in Bournemouth when there were the riots, dont know if you are aware but they were started by a spurs and Liverpool fan. Leeds fans were on the beach and drinking etc and the press were getting bored and paid 2 lads to kick off, then it just went mental. Thanks press, spurs and pool fans 😬. As for ER away fans used to get the cheese wedge corner of the ground but this was changed for safety reasons getting fans from the coaches to the ground....
