Planning a destination wedding can be tricky because you can't just visit the venue whenever you want and language barriers can get in the way of communicating what you really want. However, I've found that resorts have entire wedding departments that handle sometimes multiple weddings each day to make the process as stress free as possible!

In 2001, I had a destination wedding at Grand Lido Resort in Negril, Jamaica. It was the best choice I made! 58 people came, and all agreed that it was best wedding they have attended. 6 hours at a home wedding, versus a few days in another country is no comparison.

Great points. Love the yellow top. I had a destination wedding as well and I tried to keep it affordable as well. We have a nice turn out of bout 50 people. It was a wonderful time.

thank you for this. I am planning destination wedding in Mexico. Can you share what your budget was for your wedding and the rates you got for your guests? i would really appreciate that.
Sure...we spent $11k on the wedding including flights + reception and a few extras like the Tiffany chairs, decor, lights, cold fireworks. Total was around $18k for all wedding festivities including bridal shower, my dress, shoes, his tux, etc. so pretty good! For flight plus hotel, guests spent about $1300-$2500 per couple I'm guessing. Best rate I could find for the resort was $675/pp per room but they booked up super fast and flights to PVR were not cheap avg $700

Man I was on the edge of my sit watching this.... I am also planning a Destination wedding but I only looked a the Sandal's resort witch have the Beaches resort for the family but it's much more costly to go to the Beaches then Sandal enquiring mines want to know the resort you choose that was cheaper for the family then all adult resort please and thank you.
Hey Jamie! Any family friendly resort is cheaper than the adult only. I found A TON on my search. U can email me for a list if u want ! Check out Bavaro resorts, Hard Rock Resorts, Dreams...and search TripAdvisor for destination weddings as well. Ppl are super honest on there lol

Some good tips! As an added bonus tip: If you work with a Destination Wedding Specialist there is no waiting 3-7 days for a response from the resort and your agent will make it even easier to plan your guests travel arrangements... plus 99% get you many more perks than going direct to the resort. :) Have fun #BeachBride!
