@@mkelly534 I highly disagree with describing The Weeknd as being just "average in music." That is far from true. He is extremely talented and while he is one of my favorite artists (therefore I am admittedly biased), I'm certainly not alone in holding the opinion that he is not just an amazing musician... considering the fact that he has won 3 Grammys over the past 6 years (nominated for 13) and has been nominated for 3 for the 2022 awards despite not even trying/submitting his work. He's also won 6 AMAs, 19 Billboard Music Awards, 2 VMAs, 15 Juno Awards, and has received 1 Academy Award nomination so far. Along with a good amount of other awards, achievements, and various collabs with big names. His talent is evident in his song-writing skills as well as the diversity in his music - he checks several boxes when it comes to genres: pop, R&B, and hip-hop the most part. He certainly has a signature "sound" to a lot of his music that I enjoy and find really unique, but I think there is at least a song or 2 of his that anyone could enjoy. Which to me is what really makes an artist great. IMO think it's hard to compare his style and voice to any other current-day artist. Also, as an 80's (particularly “new wave” style) music lover I really enjoy hearing elements of that in his music as well. I know your comment was written 2 years ago, so perhaps your opinion has changed... but I don’t think it’s fair or truthful to say he is simply average.
