It's so much better watching these professionals rather than the Sunday lathe drivers on other channel that don't know there knee from there elbow. Lol

Nice...great 'mechanic', if I can call him that, respekt! Also, very nice reduction to 'first principles' of evaluating and adjusting backlash from multiple sources... "Cleanliness is next to Accuracy" ;-)

This helped a ton of what I'm going to get into, I might need a new nut , but I do have a taper attachment also. !

Thank you for taking the time to show the process. My entire lathe is about the size of that compound but every bit of knowledge helps.

What kind of book or training material was used for the excellent drawings of the mechanisms??

Thanks again for uploading this video. I've done a couple of lathe strip downs but only strip, clean and rebuild. Would love to do a complete lathe rebuild from regrind up on my present lathe.

Excellent explanation of the different styles of backlash nuts. I am planning to fix my worn out cross slide nut, it has no backlash adjustment. It is a 1/2” pitch double start, LH square cut thread 🥴Cheers from Saskatchewan 🍻
