    I have an old JD 250G that I bought during the ice storm of '98 and it runs well, still use it for the occasional power outage we might experience.

    That is the first thing I turn off (main breaker) and then I turn on only the breakers I have marked with a red highlighter. Back during hurricane Irma we were without power and we had supper cooked on my portable induction cooktop (1300w) and our small toaster oven. We were the only house on the street with lights. My polish pigtail is 12-2 W/ground. I would love to pull a 30A circuit back to my switchbox but I could not run anything that was 220VAC because all of my stuff would overload the generator. My house needs 12.5 to 15KW to run everything. I would love a Genrac but they are pricey at my level.

      The other end goes to the on off switch, but can't figure out why it goes nowhere. Maybe for a test procedure?

    When i ran my generator when we lost power I back fed it into my GFI outlet on the front porch. It keep popping the GFI outlet so I fed it into another outlet. After the hurricane had passed and we had power, again, I put in an 8 foot ground rod, so I could use the GFI outlet in the future if we loose power. I know this type of connection is not up to code but I have used it for years without any problems. I do not feed 240 into the house, just 120, and only use it for lights and some small appliances.

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well all I can say is do you turn off the main breaker to the house so there is no back feed to the main line? That is a big deal up here in Canada

    I would put a GFI on that outlet that is slaved to your GFI. I have had problems with a Master/Slave configuration, in that the Master tripped off the Slave and I did not know where the ground fault was.

    Nicely done! I'v had that same generator for over 10yrs now and have no complaints whatsoever, however lately it has stopped idling back whenever there is no load on the generator (nothing connected). It used to idle back to about 1500 rpms but now it does not. Any sugestions?

    Hi, I've been looking at the new John Deere generators, specifically this one
    www.deere.com/en_US/products/equipment/home_and_workshop_products/generators/agricultural_commercial/pr_g6000m/pr_g6000m.page?#viewTabs
    They use the Mi-T-M engines and to be quite honest, I had never heard of them before. Do you have an opinion as to their quality and reliability? It appears that Mi-T-M makes the generator and slaps JD's name on the front, in addition to painting them green. lol
    The specs and features seem okay as is the price. For the one above around $800.
    Your videos are great, always enjoy them.
    Thanks for your help
    Tony from North Carolina

      Being OHV it would be easier to start. I can't say anything about the quality of the motor except that they are Kohler. I found this link for you. They are probably a good generator.
