2020 Bahrain was the 15th race of the season. So the cars were well developed by then. Then again, there was the token system because of Covid. Hard to compare.
I really like these videos that have a lot of years back to back to back... Have you ever thought of doing a comparison between all of a certain drivers championship winning cars? 7 for Schumacher/Hamilton, 4 for Prost/Vettel etc?
This video was interesting to me because I always assumed that the newer cars were faster. But I assume with upgrades through the year they would get faster.
2019-2021 cars were lighter and better on kerbs. F1 cars cars will not get faster every year because the regulations change and it can slow them. In 2014 f1 cars were slower than f2. 2017 cars were 5 seconds a lap faster than 2016

@@petros5155 So Pre-Silverstone, The MCL60 turned into a rocket ship at Silverstone after being the tractor we see here. I would of liked to see if it could beat the 2020 car or if 2023 was just slower cars all around.
@@morgan40654 No no it would never beat the 2020 car the 2023 cars are slower all around. On a track like bahrain the 2023 mclaren with the mid season updates would still be 2 seconds off the pace. And that's shaving 8 tenths off the lap you see the 2023 car do here, which might even be a bit generous.
@@Luke-tl4vw first of all, you didnt have to correct a person like that. secondly, yes. yas marina changed in 2021; the chicane near the hairpin was removed, and the tight chicane in sector 3 was also removed, so the lap times from 2021 onwards will be different.
They also had the Renault engine in 2019, and that car was pulling in on straights. It's just the difference in car setup and philosophy@@proximacentauri3342

Ferrari allegedly had illegal engines in 2019. The exploit was patched at the end of 2019 making them faster then their 2020 cars.
