This is a great guide Droodles, and I would love to see you do more map strategy guides. I started playing 6 years ago, but I took a break for a couple of years and don't know the newer maps very well. Since map knowledge is such a huge thing to improve the quality of gameplay, you should be explaining the maps even more than the intricacies and quirks of each tank. Map knowledge improves everyone's games no matter what they are driving.
Every time more than half my team doesn’t set up for hill in mines, I just play full aggressive (not yoloing) because it’s basically already decided, and the best thing you can do at that point is try to scare the enemy into not pushing the hill IF you are lucky.
You tell people at the start, "ALL hill." and the meds go straight across water, 2 heavies try to cap, and the rest sit at the bottom of the hill. Then they blame you for the "bad call" they didn't listen to. 😆
@@_raiden8681 I know, and in my opinion if capping ever did work (which once in a blue moon it does) it never ever works on this map, too small of a map and everyone fights in an area very close to the base.

I actually really like this video concept. Sometimes when I get a new tier 10, I don't know the best positions for my tank. Doing tactical breakdowns of other maps is definitely something I would be interested in watching. Keep up the good work!
The problem with pushing a 50B or a Light into town to flank is that you have to rely on the enemy knowing the map and your to not follow you. If you try that flank on a Bat-Chat and find some noob on a E100.. yeahh, his lack of knowledge would play on his favor I guess that's not something common on ratings/tournaments idk, I haven't played those
I also put my Vickers on the 121 position oftenly when the hill is already dominated by heavies if I'm not quick enought It's one of my favorite spots in mines I can do snap shots to heavies who aren't paying attention to me or heavy tanks attempting to go to the hill and scare them with my DPM
Yeah, on the Asian server I would say about 50% of the time they push town and try to cap. It would usually be a number of very strong hull down heavies which allows the enemy to push over the hill and kill your defensive line. It is also usually these particular players that than start with the name calling and get angry because their fellow heavies and mediums have been overwhelmed. I love this map, if I have the support...
Tanks I love playing this map with: Hull down tanks like the E3, 60TP or IS-7. Fast tanks like the Leopard 1, Sheridan, or AMX 30 B. Hull down tanks is obvious. But I have had some good games where I take a fast tank right up on top of that hill on to the enemy's side before they even get there. But it's dependent on the enemy lineup and if you can get up there fast enough. I've taken a Sheridan up there and still stayed hidden from the enemy TDs. But I cannot suggest always doing this, because it really does depend on the enemy lineup. I've seen that strat go south really quick before. Just use your best judgement on whether that's a good idea.
I've known for a long time that the Mine is the way to go, didn't have a good position for my E100 until watching this video. My next game was a 5.5k game on mines with my E100. It was a loss due to my team going town and 5 v. 1 with an E100 is tough...even if you hold the mine. In the end, it was 1 v 1...
I hate when people don't go hill on mines. I've had games where 4 heavies flanked and me as a medium and 2 tds had to carry the hill, but we lost because all 4 tier 10 heavies died in about a minute. There is absolutely no reason to go anywhere else unless someone is trying to flank and you go back to contest them.
Any time Droorles is calling out players on being stupid, I pause the video on the players' list to scan through nervously, thinking "Please God, let those names not be me"
For some reason the garbage players started pushing town a few months ago. You use to get maybe 1 or 2 every once in a blue moon but it's literally every battle now. I don't know why they started doing this all of a sudden
This map is really boring to play like 90% of the time. Cuz it’s a Stalemate map. Basically who is more impatient will die first. Hence TDs most of them can firing in this map undetected even 183 can firing before getting detected. So how to break the stalemates? All you have to do is making sure some of your team going to the town or the Lighthouse, and pray that the enemies wouldn’t do the same. Create a Small crossfire. However this is also risky cuz a Good TD tends to shift themselves when they know there is a Target that trying to do something different. So the actual The best way is who is more accurate and who has more armor, or who is impatient. That’s why I keep calling this map Stalemates. PC WOT Mines never has this problem, cuz the city were larger which is good for HTs and the Lighthouse area is a lot larger. people stills going for the hills in Mines on PC, yes, but they can go to the city as well if the Hills can be too Stalemates, not to mention that it is less steep than Blitz one.
Dear Droodles, I love the content u make and this one right on point. I'm an 7 year long player but i see that players get worse and worse. My question for you is, can you make guides like this for every map? And for each type of tank how to angle it or drive it? What there roles are? Pls...
On mines, considering everyone are good players. Good Hull down heavies with good turret armour should stay at the bottom of the ridge to take opportunistic shots at lights rushing up the hill. Then, they should continue duelling with the enemy heavies until control is wrestled and then make a coordinated effort to clear enemies on hill. However, it doesnt make sense for a heavies tank with horrible gun depression and weak turret armour to contest the ridge. Fast mediums can either sit in the TD bush and snipe (Leopard 1) or can rush up the hill and support the lights. Mediums that have good gun depression can spot TDs at the back and also the Heavies at the ridge. Lights should rush the hill and use the bush in the centre of the hill facing the enemy spawn. This only let you spot the TDs, but also spot the players on the ridge. Lights with reasonable gun depression can also take opportunistic spots. Tank destroyers can sit at the back and snipe, although this is not exactly having a huge impact on the game. One important thing to note that the town and the island is not exactly useless as mediums can flank, wreaking havoc on the heavies on the ridge and TDs at the back of the map. Hope this helps (^_^)
When they reworked the map they mostly removed those. Except for certain tanks from the south spawn that can climb the slope. There used to be 2 other ways up.

I had a match in the E3 in this map where an E100 penned with me with HE just above the gun mantlet. Easily one of the most bullsht moments i ever had playing this game
Continuing to push the hill when you see you are outnumbered because your teammates went somewhere else means you are pushing a winning strategy in a losing situation- that means the reason you lost was because you failed to adjust your tactics to account for the prevailing conditions. Wading into the hill to fight outnumbered isn't the fault of your teammates. That's purely the fault of those who insist on following the so-called winning strategy no matter what.
Not always true, there have been times where im alone on hill alone and have fought and beat 4+ tanks. You have to try atleast, you can't just see 4 tanks go around hill and blindly follow them, if you have tds you won't get rushed and you can fall back and hull down behind the small ridges at the base of the hill. But i also disagree with you saying that the battle was lost because a lack of flexibility not adapting to what your team is doing, because the fact is, the hill is undeniably the most strategically important part on the map and failing to contest/take it is putting you at a inherent disadvantage, so yes its the rest of the teams fault aswell.
You make a good point. When the enemy sends lights/meds to the top of the hill uncontested and has good hull down heavies holding the hill it makes little sense to push up the hill. I see this happen all too often and just leads to a loss. I would recommend just playing passive and shooting tanks who over poke. The problem is your teammates will likely get impatient and just die anyway…
Hey droodles can you make a video about how to play on canyon? Every time I play on canyon I am so clueless and usually die no matter what tank class I’m using, if I push the hill I get sniped by mediums, if I push left side I can’t shoot anything and if I push right side I get flanked by mediums.
If you're med/light its essentially your duty to go hill at the beginning to spot and let your team know where every enemy is going, also on the right people usually get shot when meds aren't contesting hill or spotting the meds so they can just fa heavies without being spotted. As for the left side (the one with the small houses not the factory buildings) i completely avoid going that side unless my team leaves me no choice because its essentially a deathtrap, you'll 100% get farmed by meds or heavies across the map. The right side of the map is fantastic for heavies there is a little hill behind rocks that if you can take you essentially guarantee a win on that side of the map + have great shots at mid.

Many times a rare creature appears in the form of mt, ht or lt and chooses to be td. What should you do in that situation?
Lighthouse snipers can wreck you hill team from the side.
I would suggest you ready some books on strategy watch videos on armored movement battle of arras caserinne pass etc etc etc
Hey droodles can you make a video about how to play on canyon? Every time I play on canyon I am so clueless and usually die no matter what tank class I’m using, if I push the hill I get sniped by mediums, if I push left side I can’t shoot anything and if I push right side I get flanked by mediums.
Imo never push hill cuz then it's kinda a stalemate like on the Normandy hill.....to high to go hulldown and exposed flanks for snipers....
