  • It's normal for your dog to be upset when his human family members leave, especially if this is a new experience for him. No matter what your situation - a new puppy, a newly adopted dog, or a change in your family's schedule - there are some simple ways to raise your dog's confidence and make him comfortable with staying home alone.

    THANK YOU! The other search results keep talking about how important that is to teach your dog to calm down and mention nothing about HOW to do so. So THANK YOU for getting to the point!

    I really appreciate your help, you are using a full grown dog. That is great because the others I have seen use a small pup. My pup is 6 months old and we were not preparing properly to have him stay home alone.
    Now I am starting little by little, like you said, going out of the room for a few minutes at a time. It's working! Thanks a million 👍😊

    I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT, whenever I take him for walks, we have problems. He hates other dogs and other people sometimes even growls at us. My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? THANK YOU!!!!

      We had problems with our dog also. He used to bark and chew shoes, table etc. when we were not at home. Both my husband and I work a lot and had no time to take our Bud to dog training classes. We asked one friend who works in foster care (he is always surrounded by dogs) what we should do. He recommended one online dog behavior trainer. I love this trainer bit.ly/2Tw99Eq It helped us a lot, and I strongly recommend it for you.

      You will need to buy him toys to chew, and teach him what to chew and what not. So say NO if he does bite. You could do research to train your dog if it bites.

    That was helpful advice. I have a 6 year old chorkie and while i did not train her properly when she was a pup. She does great with seperation. Its so funyy cause when we return home she will come to the door and look at us like welcome home and then walk away. And she is a shadow Dog. We spoiled her she is sooo cute. Im trying to persuade my hubby to let me get a puppy. And I will be training my next baby though.

      neilrussell vergara yeah that's my main reason for getting one, feel like the pros out weight the cons. In your opinion is it ok to work a full time job and leave the dog at home ( obviously taking it for walks/playing with it in the morning and after work? )

    • @PeaceNLiebe
      @PeaceNLiebe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      if you all are going to leave your dog at home alone for 5+ hours I highly recommend not getting one in the first place unless you train them very well with a professional and positive reinforcement. Without training and socializing early on they will develop separation anxiety which will look like chewed up items/marking when you come home. It is necessary for their health to have exercise and not be left alone for long periods of time.

    Can i leave a two month old puppy for 7 hours without it hating me

    • @PeaceNLiebe
      @PeaceNLiebe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Lps puppy-productions please don’t leave your dog for 7+ hours. If so just put it up for adoption to a home where there will be owners around. All dogs have a sense of time and without consistency and early on training/socializing the dog will form behavior problems which will look like you coming home to a chewed up item or urinating somewhere. Especially don’t leave it I’m it’s cage for that amount of time. Dogs need to be better cared for and not brought in just to be an accessory. It’s like raising a child.

      I have a puppy sitter for my puppy since 8 weeks. I am slowly going to get him used to being home alone but he’s 3.5 months now and still staying with the sitter during work hours.
      It’s expensive but I got a dog knowing that my work schedule would be unfair to him since I’m the only one in the house.
      The investment is worth not having to deal with long term behavioral issues due to being left alone all the time.
