I once met a dog at the vet, which also did this. Was funny. And my sister's dog that crewed up in forster care with cats cleaned herself nearly like a cat. 😃 how to confuse animals
Kitten Lady there is a Very low chance you will see this but, you are my favorite TH-camr I want to help and rescue animals like you when I’m older!! Edit: thanks for all the likes!!
To me it is more a matter of whether a person finds evilness and insolence amusing. If you do, you will do well with cats and dogs, but if you do not, most cats will not be fun. I love cats and i find their snobbish wickedness and impertinence funny. Some people do not and thats fine. Oddly, goats and sheep are much the same. Goats are like cats. They want to make trouble and look for trouble, whereas sheep generally do not. So whenever a homesteader asks me "should i do goats or sheep" my first question is always "do you prefer cats or dogs?" It is pretty diagnostic!
@@rebeccaburrow7199 I may be biased, but I don't think that cats are inherently evil. Much like us, they can be a very wide range of things, and are shaped by their experiences--a family cat when I was a child would have probably been labeled 'evil' by some, due to a foul and unpredictable temper, but we suspected that trauma in her life (she spent her early years either stray or feral) was to blame for her bipolar personality. She was quite affectionate on her good days. In contrast, another family cat, now in his golden years, is and always has been the gentlest of souls, never provoking fights with the other cats (and intervening if he could), nor intentionally seeking mischief. Nor would he lash out, unless provoked--nipping a hand in warning if touched too roughly on places we suspected old injury was the furthest he'd go. Now insolence... That's perhaps a bit of a different story. They naturally seem to have an independent streak, and I've found that some can be quite clever--a combination of intelligence and boredom (and personality), and the energy of youth can certainly result in quite an attitude. Plus, it takes a little bit more convincing for a cat to change its ways--they don't naturally regard humans as their pack leaders the way a dog does, even if they do form hierarchies within the household. But I think a good comparison to having a younger cat is having a toddler--they simply want to see and do anything and everything. And, generally, they'll settle down with time.
The last time I rescued a kitten, I waited for several hours to see if it’s mother would come back for it. Mum for whatever reason was nowhere to be found 🤷♀️. Kitty was starting to cry in distress, so I did take her in and then a friend of mine got her some kitty formula. It was a terrible time for me to take in an abandoned kitten being two weeks before finals, but then mummy cat probably wasn’t planning on losing her kitty either🤷♀️. My friend decided to keep her, and I agreed to nurse the kitty until she could take the kitty home to her sisters. Her family still has the kitty btw. All grown up. And I managed to pass all of my classes that semester in spite of the two days of distraction I had caring for a little kitten. So worth it!
Agreed that a rescue dog is the best dog. That said, there can be good reasons for asking "what breed" aside from being fixated on adopting/promoting a specific breed. As a whole, dogs are much more diverse than cats (sure, there are 5 pound cats and 25 pound cats...but there are 5 pound dogs, and 150 pound dogs!) Knowing the breed/breeds of a dog can give some information about how big they'll get when fully grown, and their potential energy levels/needs. Knowing whether a puppy is a Newfie or a Greyhound can be the difference between whether someone can adequately provide for their needs or not. Of course, breed doesn't tell you everything - dogs are individuals in the end. But it can provide some good baseline information (: So while it can be frustrating to hear that question over and over (especially when many people DO put too much emphasis on having a dog that is a certain breed), it's also a question that is often shorthand for a whole bunch of other questions that are important.
@@aautumn733 I’m aware. I had two of them and a mixed breed all at the same time. But even mixed breed dogs inherit breed-specific problems from their parents.
I get that and agree to an extent but I think knowing generally what breed a dog is will help you know what energy needs they would likely need. I adopted a terrier/hound mix and I was definitely not prepared for her energy needs and ended up changing my entire lifestyle to meet her needs. I think it's definitely important for that reason.
I don’t really care about the breed, either. We have shelter dog, too & we don’t know what he is exactly. I like to say that he’s 1/3 pitbull, 1/3 black lab, & 1/3 shepherd because that’s what he looks like to us, but we don’t really know for sure & that’s ok 👍🏻!! He’s a dog & we love him!! 😊
You should really care about breed. It has a major effect on drives and temperament. one of the biggest reasons dogs get rehomed is because people bought a breed or mix that isn't suitable for their life.
@@franzi6289 I don't think so, mostly because when a person rehome a dog there's plenty of other reasons... (Not ready for being an owner or something that they can't really help like an accident) And well, the dog is their responsability, people could at least try to find a new owner for them. But I understand why you think like this, assuming you're from a country where breed culture is quite difunded. Knowing the breed will help the owner dealing with it's traits, like hunting, being active or breed related diseases, that's true, but some dogs are just so mixed that it doesn't say much about them anymore. They become just dogs & personality. And yeah, the way a person teach the dog also says a lot, If he doesn't see or play with strangers he might start being wary & defensive of their owner. Just to clarify, I don't think you're wrong, it's just that the main problem isn't the dog or it's breed but the person not being ready yet to deal with him :(
@@delisedwirges9946 This is a really common misconception. Dogs are one of the most diverse species when it comes to energy level, drives and personality, and the reason they are like this is breeding. If you want a mellow cuddle buddy, buying a vizla is a terrible idea.
One of the things is that while kittens generally end up as 10 - 20 lb cats, puppies can end up as 10 - 100 lb dogs. That can have a significant impact on the long term success of rescue. I look back at the puppy I adopted when I was 22, who was supposed to be about 45lb and ended up at more than 90lb.I loved him and kept him his whole life despite the challenges, but talking to the family I got him from, it turned out Buster was the only puppy from the litter who spent his entire life with his adoptive family. It's important to make sure that people who adopt dogs understand the challenges and have appropriate support to deal with large dogs. That's why I feel like it is important for people to know the genetic background of puppies, so they don't make mistakes when they see cute puppies on TH-cam.
Adorable!!! 💞 thanks to your videos i successfully was able to bottle feed 5 day old kittens when i found three abandoned babies scattered in the snow a few years back. Ive now raised over 50 kittens and a few puppies and other animals!
I love how they sploot out their legs and put their tails up when they latch... and then everything relaxes when they are full. So cute :) Thanks for sharing
Hi Hannah! I'm a college student and a vegan who stumbled upon your videos recently. I've become absolutely obsessed (even ordered your book), and just now I filled out paperwork with my local municipal shelter to foster bottle babies! Thank you for inspiring me to do this. I'm scared and excited, but mostly I'm overjoyed by the possibility of saving vulnerable lives. Thank you for motivating me to open myself up to caring for others. I'm so grateful for your advocacy. You're changing the world! 💜
Lady Caticorn You will BE GREAT ❣️❣️ WAY TO GO!❤️ So many people say we need more people like Kitten Lady but THANK YOU FOR becoming a person LIKE Hannah
I’m fostering a pregnant cat. It’s because of you and what you do that made me want to foster, her babies are due on the third. Fostering saves lives, it really does
The dog I have is a rescue, he was born on the streets in Mexico when two nice ladies took him in and nursed him back to health, and then my family brought him home. Very happy about that because he is a nice addition to our family, but sadly he is pretty afraid of people
I am from tijuana and abandoned dogs are a big problem in my city, it's truly heartbreaking... It's amazing what you are doing Hannah! You are so appreciated
i love that you advocate adopting rescue dogs and not caring what breed etc. when i adopted my cat last year from a shelter i let her pick me. she was the last cat on the row and she wouldnt leave my side. shes the best thing in my life and love her so much.
i know it’s a little sacrilegious to be a dog person on here but i love dogs so much!! these gummy babies made my morning. thank you for caring for all animals, not just baby kitties (even though they are precious too) !!!! signed, a proud mommy to 3 dogs and 2 kitties :)
It’s not sacrilege at all! Hannah has taken care of more than just orphaned cats and dogs. All kinds of furbabies are welcome here. Signed, another proud mama to 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rats, and a ferret 😊
I like cats more as pets for myself for many reasons but damn do I love dogs too. I want to snuggle them all I just don't want any of my own. Dogs are more like human children and I like but don't want those either so it makes sense to me how I feel about dogs.
Reasons could be why it's interesting to know a breed (or the mix of breeds) of a rescue dog for example to kind of know the estimated size of the dog, the potential energy level and maybe a little bit of their behaviour. For example if there's a little bit of herding dog in the puppy, maybe they will have the need to herd so it could be important to know to be able to provide the opportunity, so that the dog would have their needs met. A cat's breed is not that important, because there's no real size difference or behaviour difference. But since humans have been breeding dogs for centuries and they have been bred for a specific work for the majority of this time (so humans bred dogs for behaviour as well as looks), and dogs are really easy to be bred very different from each other, every street puppy is a kinder surprise in a sense. I'm not really an expert on anything, this is just my thought process of why there would be so much more interest in the puppies' breed than a kitten's breed. Otherwise I agree - rescued is the best breed :)
You’re right. Many working dog breeds have been selectively breed to have certain traits. Like, corgis are high energy because they are herding dogs. And a high energy dog probably wouldn’t work for an elderly person. And in the US at least, most apartments have strict policies about dogs. For example no pit bulls, no dogs over 30 pounds. So, some people really do need to think about breeds when looking for dogs.
Wow that actually just shocked me😂, my brain automatically autocorrected to kittens when I read the title so that was surprising. Hope you stay safe! Now back to the video 😊
In my opinion I think when it comes to adoption being able to identify breed is important for finding the right home to these puppies. With dog breeds there is so much variety when it comes to temperament, health, and energy between them that we need to find people to suit their individual needs.
Cat person here. When you said "A dog is a dog and a rescue dog is the best kind" or something to that impression, it choked me up a bit. I love all cats, I do not care about the color or breed and it breaks my heart when i hear my friends or family get wrapped up in the nonsense of being selective toward what kind of dog they're going to buy. And its almost never from a shelter. Breaks my heart. I have three cats and wish I had room for more!
Awww we had so many stray pup litters in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I got so frustrated not being able to save them all, but people like you and the VSPCA are making life better- and spay/ neuter more accessible. So cute!
We got our dog Emmie from a foster home. She was born out in the woods with her sister and she is part corgi part border collie. She is so sweet and playful and smart, and we wouldn't have her if it weren't for rescue programs and foster care!
I just cried... I rescue orphan kittens myself and I’m still not used to stories of mums passing away. Thank you, Hannah. You’re my biggest inspiration 🌹
Hannah it's so beautiful how your animal love is spread to all of them. You might be the *Kitten* Lady, but you take in ducklings, puppies, a pig.... You're so kind.
Aww! I got my current foster pup at 2 weeks with his mama. Nala, the mom, has clearly had trauma and watching her progress has been so rewarding. Simba, the little pup is about the same size as his mom even though he is 5 weeks. We are on fosters #21-22! I started after watching you foster, we do pups rather than cats because our two dogs would freak.😂
I can't remember where I saw this... someone said they couldn't understand how anyone wouldn't love a cat, they are a fluffy loaf that vibrates when it's happy. I thought of that when she mentioned how weird it is that puppies don't purr.
A baby is a baby is a baby! You are such a kind and loving person Hannah God bless you for all you do for these beautiful babies -kitten or puppy 💕🤗🙏♥️

Its almost find it odd that I see a cat channel with puppies. But I can definitely see how caring for a kitten and puppy can be so similar, yet very different.
Me and my brother fostered a couple of newborn pups 4 months ago. This is making me really nostalgic for when they were this small 😊 despite the odds, they both grew up healthy! Your kitten videos helped a lot, and I'm glad there are people like you who will help educate people on how to properly care for newborn animals. Thanks for everything you do!
when I rescue my first kittens I found you and I learned how take care of them, that was years ago and a bunch of kittens but today I'm gonna get my first puppies to foster and I was thinking "I wish someone explain how to care for puppies like kitten lady" and you upload this video. Thank you so much for all the help.
Nope Hannah, you're definitely not the only one who loves the smell of puppies! Puppy breath & puppy smell in general is very lovable. Funny how adult dogs really don't smell all that great though. But kittens & puppies are the best! Thank you for reaching out to give those little canine cuties the best possible start in life, even though their birth story is so tragic. You are an amazing foster mom for ANY species.💖🐈🐕🐇🐤💖

Rescue dogs ARE the best dogs. My dog was around 2 when I found her at the SPCA. She was super shy and timid, and was scared of men. I fell in love with her at first sight. She came home with me a month later (after getting spayed), and lived with me for another 12 years. She passed away last year, from seizures (I got her through 2 years of that too, instead of putting her down immediately). Found out after I had to have her put down (she had a brain tumor) that she had been scheduled to be put down 72 hours after I picked her out, so I gave her 12 years she wouldn't have had.
Hi Hannah, I have only ever raised newborn puppies once, when my own dog, a golden retriever, rejected her babes, so we hand reared them, but they grew successfully into magnificent dogs, and though it was a 24hour job, I would do it again in a heartbeat. God bless you and your beautiful Earth Angels that you care for❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

You can tell the baby puppers are happy ect as they are content enough and feel safe enough to pass right out into dreamland in your hands and be wiggled around and loved on by you
"Th thing about puppies is they dont purr" so cute. I totally agree with you on the whole breed thing even though I do like the look of some dogs over others. I want a personality that matches me and i have that with with my dog. ❤
It's so good that you're helping these puppies, my own dog got sick while pregnant and a neighbor got me in contact with a group that took her north of the border to get her and her puppies the help they needed, I'm really thankful for that
All of my kitties and my dog are adopted or strays. I have 4 cats now and they all found a loving home with me and my husband. Our dog was given to us from a friend who rescued him from an abusive home, and we love him very much.

Really SAD backstory for these guys. But their luck is growing, now that you’re involved in their care & fostering. Thanks for getting involved with these puppy-babies!
I'm in the UK and i've never seen a stray cat or dog here. When i went to Greece when i was 9, i was so confused by all the homeless cats I saw. My cat is a rescue cat, but he was born indoors. He was just abandoned in a box outside a pet shop.
Just wanted to thank you for everything that you do! I started fostering cats in July of 2020. I've fostered 47 cats for my local rescue in the last 9 months. I'm now known as the kitten lady in my area 😆 I mainly take in bottle feeders but recently fostered a couple of elderly cats. I would have never started all of this if it weren't for you and your videos. Thank you so much!
I've never smelled a kitten but neonatal puppies smell SO GOOD. Like, everywhere - their whole little bodies. Anytime I have puppies I spend hours just sniffing them😍
Breed is a totally valid question to ask about, because it affects temperament, exercise requirements, grooming requirements, their trainability, size, genetic predisposition to different diseases, food requirements, prey drive, length of life on average, etc. Even having an idea of what mom could have been is useful info.
Thanks to you and your educational information, the two kittens we took in that were just two days old are seven months yesterday. They get fixed tomorrow. Thank you!
puppy smell is best smell! I lived in Chile for a while and their stray dog population really surprised me. It was really heartbreaking. I really hope that Dog TNR programs and/or rescue programs take off everywhere stray dogs are found!
I’m currently bottle feeding a litter of puppies. They are 6 days old today. Thanks for this video! I feel like there’s not enough info on TH-cam for bottle feeding puppies.
They are so stinkin precious! They look like bats when you can't see their bodies lol I definitely don't care about breed. I'm just a dog person that also is a cat lover. But when people ask about breed it's important to know the breed or the size of the mom or both parents so they'll have an idea of what they'll be ending up with if they're potential adopters. Some people don't have space for big dogs and apartments usually have ridiculous rules about "aggressive breeds". With cats, there's generally not a huge difference. Just thought I'd bring up those points. I'm a rescue mutt mama. I have big enough house and yard. So looks, size, breed, # of legs/eyes, age, etc don't matter to me. I'm just happy I'm able to give them a great home and love on them way too much. 💓
How adorable. I am a cat lady, but do love dogs as well. And these babies are so cute! I also love the puppy smell, especially puppies breath. Not sure why, but there is something so sweet about it.
Our dog is a rescue who had been misused to breed for tourists and was later a foster mommy herself before she came to us. (she's fixed now) she got really interested at the sounds of those puppies.

Our cat things he’s a dog. He tries to bark, runs up to you when you come in the door and other dog things.
Chickens purr too! When we give our Brahma hen scritches she makes a 'rrrrr' sound similar to purring.
it is blessed to know dogs raised with cats learn to purr ❤️

Dog or a cat person?
I've always been both, never saw a point in picking one and don't understand people who insist on that.
I always thought of myself as a dog person, but realised you can be both.
I love both, however I like cats because they're more laid back. They fit my lifestyle better ❤
Same! Purely for aesthetics I think kittens are cuter, but puppies are sweeter. But I love them both!
So worth it!
ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
we win these
@Martha Hawkins-Mich I'm sure you will never forget that experience of nursing the kitty.
Health issues can also be very breed-related in dogs so it is important for dog owners to know breed.
@@parryyotter Because most purebred dogs are inbred. That's where most of the issues actually come from.
Totally agree. You said it nicely.
@@madderlake8285 Dogs have personality. This can happen to all dogs. If the person is worried about temperament they can adopt an adult dog!
Just to clarify, I don't think you're wrong, it's just that the main problem isn't the dog or it's breed but the person not being ready yet to deal with him :(
Omg didn't mean to make It so long 🤣 the perks of not being able to express myself with fewer words (and not being a main english speaker maybe??)
Yay!! Good for you!
Incredible! Keep up the great work
amazing! Thank you for saving lives!
You are awesome! Now you can be an inspiration in your own right 😊❤️

Do be aware you will be running on like 3 hours of sleep if you get kittens I'm a high school student and it's rough sometimes

I’m fostering a pregnant cat. It’s because of you and what you do that made me want to foster, her babies are due on the third. Fostering saves lives, it really does
Thank you for helping the animals in need.

When you said puppy smell I could immediately smell it. It’s the best and I don’t know why.
Look at you venturing out again for baby animals! Love and support you. Prayers for you. Bless you.

The dog I have is a rescue, he was born on the streets in Mexico when two nice ladies took him in and nursed him back to health, and then my family brought him home. Very happy about that because he is a nice addition to our family, but sadly he is pretty afraid of people
🥰💕
that mama really wanted her puppies to live before passing. these lads are going to live so well in your care...

I am from tijuana and abandoned dogs are a big problem in my city, it's truly heartbreaking...
It's amazing what you are doing Hannah! You are so appreciated
Kittens, Puppies, Ducklings, Piggies... you are an universal angel
i love that you advocate adopting rescue dogs and not caring what breed etc. when i adopted my cat last year from a shelter i let her pick me. she was the last cat on the row and she wouldnt leave my side. shes the best thing in my life and love her so much.
i know it’s a little sacrilegious to be a dog person on here but i love dogs so much!! these gummy babies made my morning. thank you for caring for all animals, not just baby kitties (even though they are precious too) !!!! signed, a proud mommy to 3 dogs and 2 kitties :)
it’s not. we should love all creatures esp those in need of help
I love all animals... doesn't matter!
I am a bird person (corvids esp) but any animal is a potential good boy/girl
Health! Respiratory issues, hip dysplasia, skin allergies...these are way more breed specific in dogs. In cats it’s not really related.
There’s still a lot of variation within breeds, especially for dogs that weren’t intentionally bred by skilled breeder like these ones.
There is NOTHING as sweet as puppy smell! Thanks for this very informative video! It will probably help a lot of people save puppies. You're a hero.
Ah, puppy breath! Love it!
Please become a member of her kitten club and donate! If we can’t be fosters like her, we should help financially to helping these little ones. 🥰
🥰👍🔥
Wow that actually just shocked me😂, my brain automatically autocorrected to kittens when I read the title so that was surprising. Hope you stay safe! Now back to the video 😊
In my opinion I think when it comes to adoption being able to identify breed is important for finding the right home to these puppies. With dog breeds there is so much variety when it comes to temperament, health, and energy between them that we need to find people to suit their individual needs.
Rescue definitely is the best breed. These babies are adorable and in great hands. 💕
Rescued is the best breed.

I beg you to continue to show the story of the puppies, and explain how to care for puppies till they are ready for adoption 🙏❤️
🥰
I don't know who is more precious. You or the puppies! You have a heart of gold. Those puppies will all live because of you.
This woman Is an AMAZING. To care for cats on a regular basis but also allow to take care of puppies too.
And duckies and piglets. If she owned a ranch, she would probably foster ponies, baby goats (kids), and baby chicks🐤. 🙂
A baby is a baby is a baby! You are such a kind and loving person Hannah God bless you for all you do for these beautiful babies -kitten or puppy 💕🤗🙏♥️
Or duckling or piglet
I love what you do, fostering tiny baby animals so they can have a chance at life and a loving forever home.
Those babies are absolute darlings. I'm so glad they have you to care for them. They'll probably grow up to be cute and friendly dogs who will find a good forever home.
The puppies move around so much more than kittens! That surprises me. They are soooo cute!
Its almost find it odd that I see a cat channel with puppies. But I can definitely see how caring for a kitten and puppy can be so similar, yet very different.
Their mama would be so so so happy knowing you are looking after her babies and giving the love and care she can’t can’t be there for.
“What kind of kitten are you supposed to be?”
The dog kind! :D
IKR! I feel like it happens with humans too lmao. People always say that newborn babies smell good.

You adapt to whatever needs these babies have, and i have loved every minute of your videos❤
On a side note, I'm still unsure what her breed was, but honestly, I never cared. Mutts are the best. :D
They’re so little!!! 🖤

Early, Hi! Hannah! I am so inspired. I asked to foster my first neonate with my parents for my 12th birthday. I have already fostered two litters. Thank you.
Really SAD backstory for these guys. But their luck is growing, now that you’re involved in their care & fostering. Thanks for getting involved with these puppy-babies!
So wiggly! Adorable. Much of you stuff works for puppies too. Cool
I teared up when you talked about how a rescue dog is the best dog. ❤
These are so cute! You helped inspire me to be a foster. Right now I'm fostering a really sweet senior cat.
Thank you for your service to the animals in need.
Nope, ur not the only one. Puppy smell is wonderful and I never tire of it.
so precious and thriving, thank you to all who care for them. Puppy smell is just the greatest
What darlings and what a Angel you are!
