  • On Friday, February 10th, 2023, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works sanitation workers, in white hazardous materials suits, along with Action Environmental Services, Inc., cleaned up homeless encampments in the restrooms at Venice Beach. Many of the unhoused have been using the restrooms as living quarters, which has caused significant health and safety concerns for both the unhoused and the general public.
LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) provided homeless outreach during the clean-up, and Park Rangers were on site to ensure the safety of all involved. The Venice Beach clean-ups are conducted every Friday.
The sanitation workers used high-pressure water hoses and heavy-duty cleaning supplies in the restrooms, removing debris and hazardous waste. The restrooms were then disinfected to prevent the spread of disease.
The homeless outreach workers from LAHSA offered assistance and resources to the unhoused individuals who were affected by the clean-up. The outreach workers helped connect individuals with available shelter and other services.
The City of Los Angeles has been actively addressing the issue of homelessness in the area, and the Venice Beach clean-up is just one part of their ongoing efforts. The clean-up not only helps to improve public health and safety but also helps to restore the restrooms to their intended use.
It is important to note that these clean-ups are not a solution to the larger issue of homelessness. The City of Los Angeles continues to work on implementing long-term solutions to address the root causes of homelessness and provide resources to those in need.
Overall, the clean-up of homeless encampments at Venice Beach is an important step in improving public health and safety, and providing much-needed resources and support to the unhoused individuals in the area. The City of Los Angeles remains committed to addressing the issue of homelessness in the area, and will continue to work towards long-term solutions.

Sadly, unsheltered street homeless are fentanyl addicts, and they will destroy any housing we put them in because they are not mentally capable of living in any organized manner. They smoke fentanyl pills popular blues that contain fentanyl, rat poison, horse tranquilizer, sedative benzo, nitazene chemicals, and such. P2P based meth is laced with fentanyl and wasp dope. All street drugs including street marijuana are laced with fentanyl nowadays. Synthetic street drugs are extremely destructive and destroy humans mentally and physically beyond the point of repair very quickly. They reject help, shelters, rehab, treatment programs, and such. They gradually destroy everything around themselves and smoke fentanyl all day long.

VERY EASY FIX!!! INSTEAD OF THE CITY PAYING A DOZEN MEN TO COME CLEAN THESE BATHROOMS UP EVERY FRIDAY,
BUILD A SMALL BOOTH FOR AN EMPLOYEE TO MANAGE THE BATHROOMS FROM 7AM-6PM DAILY!
IF SOMEONE WANTS TO USE THE BATHROOM THEY ASK FOR THE KEY FROM THE EMPLOYEE.
End of story! Would be MUCH cheaper this way and keep the bathrooms CLEAN for the general public!

There are many reasons why people end up homeless. Once there, they are in one of two camps. Those that don't want help and those that do. When I say help, that isn't a free handout. It's getting them temporary housing and a job and being able to get off the street. Getting them into the wanting help camp is the challenge because most don't want it. Coronado California has basically zero homeless since they started a zero tolerance against those who don't want help. Leave the city if you don't want help.

As a former homeless I have to say these people have no clue how to live on the streets. They have way to much stuff! When I was homeless all I had was a good big camping back pack. I carried three changes of clothes in ziploc baggies so if my back pack got wet I still had dry clothes 3 changes of socks in ziplocs a sewing kit a small medical kit a 50 cd holder because music was my only luxury item a couple of blankets and a sleeping bag. In winter because I was up north and had to deal with snow I would find a secluded place close to public trans and throw a tent up there for the winter not telling other homeless people where I camped because that is how you lose a camp site. In spring the tent and whatever I got to stay warm like a propane space heater got abandoned and I went back to having only the stuff in my back pack. The point was to be able to pack up and move in 5 minutes.
