My favorit feature is the depth sensor and the diopter dials. I once scratched one of my glasses when playing VR and that was not fun. Does the headset have stereo or mono passthrough?
I love learning more about this tech i think it;'s absolutely amazing how much this VR Tech keeps on getting better and improving and can be used for a variety of different creative mediums :)
Love how small the headsets are getting and defo love the modularity as well! diopter dials are great, but unfortunately I myself have a pretty strong cylinder, so i guess i'll still need to try and wear some kind of glasses or perhaps get third party prescription lenses like reloptix or vr-wave etc. But I'm seriously hyped about the formfactor and portability. with it being so small and light, it's more comfortable for longer sessions and with the proper xr capabilities i can't wait to see some proper xr titles to play. like.. how cool would a horror game be that can use youre surroundings/house as the actual play level... Especially when paired with the new trackers that were also announced last month... can't wait!
If these type of headsets become more affordable in about 3 years from now, then I'm up for it no doubt. I think that would be the only sensible upgrade from my Odyssey Plus.

I had to buy one of these. Not only form factor but it's one of the few that can go to my ipd of 72 and it can mitigate the need for glasses. Double bonus.
@@HTCVive I received mine a few days ago. It is amazing. I use it tethered for steam with a cable since my wifi is a bit slow. In stands alone it's great. I've been taking it to work and using it on my breaks. Absolutely love it. The only thing I would change is a slightly larger face padding option for us large headed people. But even then it's about perfect.

Time for an upgrade! The XR Elite is a stand alone VR headset, which means you won't need a PC. You can optionally connect it to a PC for optimal performance.
Hand tracking works with games in Steam? This is the kind of tech I'm waiting for to replace my current headset, i'm tired of controllers, batteries and recharges
Feel like in 2023 with $1000+ price tag, should have either oled or mini led, and 120hz. I like to have the choice of higher refresh rate when plug in, can drop to 90hz on battery. also audio port to plug in my own (better headphones)
Now if only we could get something with virtual world overlays that mix/blend/blue the 2….. I can never remember the name of the demo but it basically scanned and reskinned the environment in FOV. Not sure if that’s on developers or the headset manufacturers, which presumably this device should be able to do it.
Why are there no official reviews out there from the big names in VR and Tech? A few no name folks already received it and post on TH-cam. I am owning a Vive Cosmos and was very dissapointed by the lack of ootb controller mapping for titles like Skyrim VR and Myst on Steam. Hope this headset will be better adopted. You would deserve this HTC.
The reason why is mostly that the release date was pushed back a bit. Some people managed to get it earlier, but most people have not had their arrive yet. I believe the current timeline for most people getting their headsets is end of march.

I have yet to see a reviewer comment on the actual QUALITY of the screen ... just parrot the specs. I have a Vive Pro that has AMOLED screens with glass lens replacements and I have yet to see a new headset that has better quality or as deep blacks.
3 things would make this great 1. Displayport connection to PC for lossless no latency gaming 2. Aspheric lenses which are much clearer than pancake 3. QLED or OLED for true blacks
@@zaidsalhy well if its *the first one* you better get something cheap to understand is it even worth it. You might be prone to dizziness or vr might not meet your expectations or there's lots of different nuances which might distract you from the game. Same as for the new driver its better to take a cheap car it would be better for you to take a cheap headset. Quest 2 is a perfect start for vr journey but you might also consider pico 4 if you don't like meta or wait for quest 3 release which should be in the end of this year if you want something groundbreaking but ready to wait. If you have ps5 psvr2 might also be a great variant

The problem is that htc vr will always be twice the cost of a provider that has their own store because they are not getting any income frome the sale of software.

Hand tracking is disappointing . it's not better than Quest 2 that's why it's disappointing and the pletora of bugs that comes with it. I still have it -- it feels like an early access device so it could be better as time goes by

This is the only inside out tracked small form factor headset that exists, the big screen beyond and the meganex had to add base station tracking cause their inside out tracking was really bad, are also both wired, and don't come with controllers or have hand tracking or can be used standalone. For me even the meta quest pro now $100 less than the HTC vive xr elite, I STILL think isn't worth it even with the better displays and built in face tracking, its uncomfortable, small, meta ecosystem and reliability problems, privacy concerns, and the more main stream choice for more people which I personally try to stay away from. The mic quality is just good enough to use for vrchat. They will probably come out with a mini led or oled version later of this headset.

Great form factor, but I think its overpriced for what it is, no PC connection, no OLED or QLED and standard FOV
