When I was a kid in Sac they sometimes ran FOUR cars during high hours-- but those were also entirely different units, likely much better made-- RT still ran GM fishbowls and Gillig Phantoms for most of it's busses. I remember when they BROUGHT IN the very first hydrogen or whatever busses, and I hated em from the start. I LOVED the old fishbowls.

I like your comment and apologize for long response. I have a video planned about the 4-car light rail in Sacramento. Unfortunately I didn't see the old fishbowls and hydrogen buses. But at the moment my favorite model in SacLR is Siemens-Duewag U2A. I also love the atmosphere of old cars. Hope you'll like my new videos!

Not sure what you mean by different units. SacRT still uses the same U2A's that were delivered in the 80-90s along with the newer CAF trains seen here, 2000s. They briefly had VTA leftovers, but those were removed from service during covid.

Ridership seems quite light. Why are they running long trains?

Hi, i heard they do it on busy days on the line. But, usually, there are not so many passengers

Therefore, I think that the dispatcher puts long tram trains on the line as an exception when more cars need to be moved from depot to some routes. In order not to occupy block sections of the line, it is more logical to overtake the cars coupled into one train 🚋🚋🚋

I will definitely shoot a video if I see even more cars in one tram train 💪

I do like how since you were riding the tram, that you focused on certain sites rather than the entire route. I believe that the reason for the tram wheels hunting the track at 50 is because the wheels are designed for street use, and taking sharp corners and traveling at no more that maybe 25 or 35. Sacramento should have bought a different type of vehicle to travel the faster and straighter tracks, maybe a metro or regional train set. LRT or trams are best used on tracks in city neighborhoods plated before the 1930's when cities started to build roads for the automobile rather than the streetcar.
