      The Bay Star Sport 2702 is 101.5 inches, which is 8 feet, 5.5 inches. So it is just a hair under 8.5. I agree on the wide footprint. Our Solitude is also wide and that makes me a little nervous.

    Enjoyed your little tour of the RV in Paso Robles. I taught High School there for a couple years before I went back to my regular trade. That's a nice little unit but I'm pretty sure it's not going to come in close to the 32 k for my lightweight cougar 24RDS. Does it have enough towing capacity to put my 55 Chevy on a Featherlite aluminum trailer? I had a V10 Ford. It was more like driving it two-stroke motorcycle then the big block Chevys. If you've had both two and four stroke motorcycles you know what I'm talking about. It is nice and small but that load capacity is quite limiting not a whole lot more than the fifth wheel will be getting. Well it's probably a very nice day in Paso Robles. Thanks for taking your time to do this.
    Happy travels.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Paso Robles is nice! We are also enjoying SLO, took a bike ride from Arroyo Grande to there. Agreed, we are also concerned about the low cargo carrying capacity. Plus, Paul doesn't like gas-powered Class A's. I think it would be good for a first-timer. It's not too intimidating and would be fine for a weekend or short trips. I don't think you could full time in that camper due to the limitations. You really would have to be a minimalist!

    • @2tmacisback
      @2tmacisback 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I imagine the price to be over 90 grand too. And our little fifth-wheel is 32 K, if we go back to the general area of construction and pick it up. It's an additional $9,000 out here in California. Since we usually head back to New England and then start exploring it would just be a stop along the way. I can load the back of my truck up with things. And maybe even take a U-Haul. Each person has their preferences, however I had quite a bit of experience driving tractor trailers while attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
      A nice Bike Tour could be heading up towards San Luis Obispo and taking Los Osos Valley Road, that has enough area along the road to ride a bike to Montana De Oro State Park . You would go right by our town of Baywood Park and Los Osos and Cuesta by the sea. I think I had mentioned to you and or Paul that we bought our first house there and they would park.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, MSRP on the Bay Star 2702 is around $127,000 I think. You could probably get it for just under $100k. Of course, if the Rv market gets sluggish, it might get cheaper.
      We agree that you can get a lot more for your money with a fifth wheel. The Fed-Ex guy who delivered my replacement bike mentioned that exact ride! We took a drive out to Morro Bay and had a lovely time just outside of town on the north side. Then we discovered Spencer's Market-- love that place! We will have to take the bikes next time.
      It's a beautiful part of the country for sure! Happy birthday to Cindy!

    Love the 2702 floorplan, just wish it had better ext. storage & 50amp/55KOnan boondocking capability that most Class A's are expected to provide, even 'entry level' Class A's.

    Wow! That is one pretty rig! Still too big for me to feel comfortable driving. I agree with Oaul about the electric controls being in the bathroom ..... scary! But I appreciate the fact that it is gas and not diesel. Would I buy it? Not as a solo RVer as I wouldn't be comfortable driving that big of a rig. If I had a partner to drive, who didn't take up too much of the closet space, then yes! Live the quality cabinetry and ine thing you didn't point out that I noticed was the central vacuum......that would be a great bonus to have! I believe you guys have it in your rig. Thanks for the great review!

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rosemary! Yes, that's a good point about the central vacuum- and we do love it on ours. Can't get over all the nice little touches in the Bay Star Sport 2702. We think it's ideal for short trips and has such a nice layout. Agreed that is can be a tad big for a solo traveler. Thanks for you comment.

    Someone looking at a large Class B needs to consider what 5’ extra can provide! Love all the high-end features like full body paint, premium cabinetry and full sized tanks. All it really needs is one of those baby diesels up front. Can you say 20+ mpg? Do you happen to know who built the drivers drink holder that turns into a desk? Very slick. Would love to add one of those to my coach!

    • @LizAmazing

      Yeah that table is pretty neat. I’m surw it’s an in-house item as Newmar is pretty big.

  • @JohnSmith-ev1sm
    @JohnSmith-ev1sm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a real advantage to motorhomes, vs truck + trailer setup? I think especially for those who like to sit still in one spot, having a truck to go out and get supplies without having to break camp would be better, but maybe if you're the type to be constantly on the move then this is just easier? Great review though!

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Motorhomes are a quicker setup and tear down. Most fulltimers with motorcoaches tow a small car so their gas costs while camping are reasonable. We have a fifth wheel so when we are camped and make trips we are using diesel and not getting as good economy on our pickup as a small car. Our next camper will likely be a Class A.
      I do think this Bay Star Sport 2702 would be best for those new to Rving who want try out the life for weekends and short trips. Although you can tow with this, I would not advise it because the tongue weight is deducted from the already modest cargo carrying capacity.
      Thanks for your comment!

    Good review, I agree about the electric box in the bathroom...kind of strange. Good space but looks tight when slides are in. We like to have a bit more room when slides in but a nice options for a smaller class A.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the dinette is a squeeze but the kitchen and sofa are easy to enjoy when going down the road. Paul, especially, does not approve of that fuse box! We do think the Bay Sport 2702 is a good option for a small Class A-- especially if you like a back window. Thanks for watching.

    Really like the functionality. Don't care for some of the quality of material I think I was viewing. I would not be able to accept vinyl flooring at how much that charge for these motorhomes. Likely could come up with a moisture seal for the utility door in the bath. These units seem to all be built for a remodel every 10 years. Some of this stuff folks like Paul and I see drive us crazy. But as we get older we can more easily just let it go because we are done building everything ourselves LOL

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point about the vinyl flooring. Vinyl plank is an upgrade, I should have mentioned that. I was just talking with Paul about the bathroom fuse box, maybe to put weatherstripping there. Can't believe that got approved in the first place.
      Overall, though, we love Newmar and would love to get one some day. We think this Class A is a perfect entry level for someone new to Rving.
      And if Paul still had a garage I think he'd still be building stuff!

      How much YOU want to spend- or how much is the Bay Star Sport? This rig is $127,000 MSRP, could probably get it for just over $100k.
      Of course, the most challenging question is how much to spend on your next Rv???? You truly can find a rig at any price point.
      Don’t skimp on things that will bother you on a daily basis and are not an easy fix. So avoid cheap insulation, cramped floorplans, tiny kitchens.
      Thanks for your comment Ed. Let us know what you end up with.

    Sorry to mention this, but you cannot use computer on that passenger tray table when in motion. Computer will disrupt the view of right side mirror. Unlike front mounted gas engines, you could on diesel pushers since mirror is out front and viewed through windshield. But this RV is gas. Sorry.

      Wow, that is so great to know. Thanks so much. I would not have realized that about the computer blocking the view of the mirror. If/when we get a Class A, we will get a diesel pusher for sure. Me too! Newmar makes a great product. When we get a Class A, it will likely be one of theirs. We also like the New Aire, here's our tour of it: th-cam.com/video/7QtRYPBUJnE/w-d-xo.html

      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great point- thank you! This one is MSRP $127k, could be had for about $100, I’m thinking.

    • @GaryNichols50
      @GaryNichols50 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LizAmazing Thank you. But if MSRP is $127k, then I would think it could probably be had for closer to $80-85k by a good negotiator. Regardless, that is a very nice coach for that MSRP level. A Newmar with full-body paint no less. That is what the MSRP was on my 29' A.C.E.

    Certainly, a beautiful well planned R.V. Would I buy a new one? No way, there are always so many used ones in great condition with very low mileage on the market, for a fraction of the original price, it would be insanity to do so.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We agree! We sure tempted with Newmar though. I think if we won the lottery we would buy a new Newmar Class A for sure. This one is our favorite: th-cam.com/video/7QtRYPBUJnE/w-d-xo.html

      I guess I fall on the other side. We are currently on our 4th RV. (all Travel Trailers) all 4 were purchased new. Here's the one we have now. th-cam.com/video/dbjid6bk5xg/w-d-xo.html and here's the one we traded in: th-cam.com/video/tVGjQlO4XC4/w-d-xo.html we like them new and we like keeping them new. While you did an excellent job with this review; and it is amazing for under 28’, I didn’t see a TV in the living area- looked it up in Newmar’s website- over the cab??? You can’t watch it from the couch. Bad idea- wouldn’t consider unless that problem can be addressed by Newmar

      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good catch! Yes, for some reason I missed it and only showed a corner of it where it is - yep- over the dash.
      I agree that is not an ideal location. I think the Bay Star Sport 2702 is designed to be a weekender- so presumably tv would not be a high priority.
      Thanks again for your comment!

      We agree! I actually would love to be in Rv sales! In fact, if I weren't traveling, that's exactly what I would do. I've owned 8 of them now and I think I could help all kinds of campers from newbies to seasoned travelers.
      Of course, now with the Covid, I am not sure how many people are buying. Sky River Rv (where this video was shot) told us that everything is on hold for now.

      I think it would be an Ok motorhome to have the grandkids visit. BUT you'd have to be sure everyone used the roof van during/after showering. Even then, Paul does not approve of moisture so close to the electrical. We love Newmar-- not sure how this got past their team. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Don. Agreed on all points. It has a 5000 pound towing capacity and so 500 pounds tongue weight comes out of that carrying weight number. I think the Bay Star Sport 2702 is well-suited for first timer just going for weekends or short trips. Not towing another vehicle and not packing it to the gills.
      That fusebox in the bathroom sure had Paul scratching his head! Not a good idea for sure. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

    you guys keep viewing motor homes i notice; are u wanting one? they are expensive to buy; depreciate like crazy; and expensive to fix. im wanting a fifth wheel when i get an rv...very reasonable used; good towing and not to expensive to fix or maintain.. but i need sliding windows to have enough air no angle out windows for me; we had a house that had angle out windows once we HATED THEM as u dont get hardly any airflow very nasty in summer, never again...

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lauren! I think our next camper is going to be a class A for sure. We love the Bay Star Sport- for a weekender. And actually the New Aire if we won the lottery!
      We did just buy a fifth wheel and love it. Class A’s are just so nimble with such easy setup. Plus the more economical tow car. So it is definitely something we want to try next time around.
      Our new Solitude is our first camper with crank out windows. I thought the same thing with ventilation. We find they crank out pretty far and allow good airflow. Plus you can use them on rainy. We were quite pleasantly surprised.

      @@LizAmazing well your windows sound better than those horrid house windows i had. have you driven a class A? they are called the white knuckle rv for a reason eh!! in heavy traffic or freeways with strong winds or sudden gusts can be very traumatic; you need to drive one in wind before you buy one, r u still at the same place with hookups? hope they stay open! im getting fed up with this stay home crap. I go into stores with a mask n gloves; went to a pizza birthday dinner in my sons garage with open big garage door; they sat on one side we sat on the other side about 15 ft apart; went just fine; we wore gloves. playing pickleball in my friends big double garage with doors open; wore gloves and we disinfected the gloves and the ball and kept our distance. went fine. just keep your distance...

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't driven a Class A. Someone told me that they are like driving a bar of soap down the road. But THEN someone else told me that's the way they used to be. They are (apparently) a dream to drive now. We have lots of Class A owners here at the campground and they all seem pretty pleased.
      I had a mask in the cargo storage from when I used to do mosaic work back when I had a house. I thought it would be useful when touching up with spray paint. Turns out is an N-99 mask-- better than even an N95. Not wearing gloves but I am wearing that to the store. We rarely go though. Just sitting.
      Like you, Paul and I are ready to get back on the road. BUT we want to wait until it's safe. Glad you are playing it safe, too!

      @@LizAmazing well before CV ever showed its nasty little face in north america I was a germphobe anyways so wearing a mask n gloves is not that hard for me. but my friends complain they cant breathe; they look weird with it on; doesnt fit right; blah blah blah whine whine whine...and I say OH OK! would you rather inhale the virus when you go to the store? no answer, well DUH!! frustrates me they have that whiny attitude; I just mask up n shut up ie no whining from me eh.... you really need to drive and park and maneuver a MH before you buy one im thinking...unless you want paul to do all the driving; but in an emergency you need to know how to drive it methinks. my hubby towed our boat but i insisted i learn how to tow and park it and launch it by myself also in case of an emergency. it was about 30 ft boat. dont stay home too much just mask up glove up n keep 6ft away...works fine!

    • @LizAmazing
      @LizAmazing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      True! I always want to be a team player so I will for sure learn to drive whatever we get.
      As it turns out I have an N99 mask (4% better than an N99) for when I am spray painting. It’s a couple years old but lucky to have it. I wear it when out, but staying home almost always.
      Be safe!
