Story: After finally escaping the kidnappers, Sophie light leaps herself and Dex back to some place Elvin. Upon arriving wherever the leaping crystal took them, Sophie looks around at where they are, smiling at the sunlight on her cheeks. Then she collapses onto the ground. Something seems to tug at her mind, trying to pull her away. She transmits telepathically to Fitz, asking for help, sending him a picture of what she sees. But the pull becomes too much. Sophie lets go.
The three race through the trees, Keefe leading them to the Four Seasons Tree. They make it to the clearing and see their friends, who were supposed to be dead, on the ground. Fitz and Keefe run to check on Sophie and Dex. They’re still alive. But Sophie’s almost gone. Fitz yells to Keefe to leap Dex to Everglen, his house, while he stares at the shell of his friend. She’s so pale, too pale, she looks transparent. The leap took too much of her. “BIANA CALL ELWIN!” He yells to his sister, taking Sophie’s hand to give her something to hold onto. He transmits to her, something he’s surprised he can do. “Sophie please don’t give in, come back to me!” Biana seems to reach Elwin, and Sophie somehow goes even paler, even more see through.
“SOPHIE!”
Extra: The Story and Characters are from the book series Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. This scene is based off of what happens in the 1st book.
