Hi, could you share tips on How to convince employers to hire me when i had a 4 yrs career gap just after my internship period due to covid & family reasons ? Also i haven't done any volunteer job or certification courses during this period but i have watched many useful lectures on TH-cam + all the essential skills required to do my role as hvac design engineer in Aec construction industry..so how to tailor my resume? Possible ways to handle upcoming challenges or opportunities to succeed without coming up across as unprofessional in any way ?? Any book recommendations on this topic to get selected would be helpful too...
Thank you for viewing our webinar. I've forwarded your inquiry to the presenter and the general inquiry contacts noted in the video. The book recommended in the video is a good place to start. (follow link at 5:36 mark).
@mohibquadri4053 Unfortunately, if you can't get in front (face to face or zoom) of the hiring manager to convey your enthusiasm, commitment and next steps for you given an employment break it's very challenging. The only recourse is to get back on your feet and apply and accept some work outside of your field to prove your work commitment. That's usually the recommended track I would try to get back into the workforce and what you accept as employment is better than just staying home. Through new work contacts you might find a hvac temp contractor and other leads because given the employment break you cant start where you left off. Additional questions can be emailed to extension@ucsc.edu Kind regards, Marco Rosa
