As a Grandsire Doubles ringer on my way to Cardington to join the RAF, I ventured very gingerly up to the ring room one practice night in 1953. made most welcome by the Tower Captain who offered me a chance to ring the treble for a touch of Grandsire Triples. First ring on eight, knees knocking but successful. (forgotten Tower Captain's name Tom?, sorry) . "where do ring young man? Madron sir. "Then you must know Geoffrey Taysom" " Indeed he is my Father " A memory cherished to this very day, thanks Dad (RIP)

Been wondering what these sounded like for a while. They look tough as anything... that tower is HUGE! You all did a very good job! A very nice video to listen after just waking up.

They certainly are a tough old ring, not aided by the acoustics. But have to say I was in the ringing chamber with this band and they did a brilliant job, a good piece of ringing

Does the frame make these tricky or something?

@@fredmills368 not sure, but i think the hanging has something to do with it, clappering not that good but as i said, acoustically in the ringing room they are muffled which doesn't help when you are trying to correct striking errors.

Do you have any video of the bells at Chudleigh you could upload? I was interested in knowing what they sounded like and never had a chance to join a practice there. Thanks

      They're C+ at 537.0Hz. Not far off from C#- however (10.5Hz higher).
