Thanks Jerry this just confirms even more that a set of slip ons is all I need for my 107 and save a ton of money 👍. And for all the people giving jerry crap about playing on the road with the bikes, just stop every single one of us do the same thing and worse
Don`t forget the high flow air filter, that will definitely increase power for not a lot of money😎😎
All you really need need is a Dyno tune/flash and stage 1. It’ll unlock ur bike full potential and make it pull thru the whole rev range.. ppl just get caught up in more power and want 131-135
@@GEN084yea some would be surprised at how much that even a good tuner would change how a bike responds is crazy
Yep because at the end of the day if it’s a group ride they’re all going to the same place to begin with and if your bike is that much faster than mine more power to you but changing the tune on one will somewhat make it run smoother and throttle response different it would be different if one was drag racing every weekend
Oh I definitely do worse! LOL!! I’m all about riding it like I stole it. I did a stage 1 on my Road King and put a V&H FP3 tuner on it. Pepped that 107 right up. I don’t think a stage 2 is going to do much more for my bike. But when it’s time to do the top end, I’ll do the cam chest anyway and make the bike more bulletproof.
Now that's a good real world comparison 😉. After watching that I really don't think a Stage 2 on my 114 will change my life. Surprising just how close the bikes are in a roll on test. Thanks Jerry, food for thought and that's for sure 😎
Great to see a real world comparison. I think if you've spent lots of money on upgrades you would convince yourself that it would be much better performance, if only to justify what you'd spent doing it, lol.
This made feel great about leaving my bikes bone stock. All of them have done what I wanted them to do at 0 extra expense 🤑🤯💩
My 103 serves me well as stock.
The way I look at it is, the bigger the bike the more stock becomes appealing but the smaller and more bare bones the bike the more modding becomes appealing. So an Iron 883 is something I want to mod out from top to bottom and make it represent me and get much more out of that 883 engine but say a Road King for example or some other bigger Hatleys I want to keep mostly stock with maybe a few comfort upgrades and maybe some mufflers and handlebars but no real engine upgrades beyond the basic stage 1. The bigger bikes mostly look best stock anyway besides maybe the handlebars and an improvement on sound. But I'll admit stock always does feel nice no matter what bike it is cuz it feels pure.
I installed a cam & header pipe on my stock 96 V-twin, the parts were pricey but the performance reward was worth it. Most notably at highway speed, no more stall in 6th gear.
hey, Motorman, I really enjoyed this video; thank you!
This is something that I have suspected for quite some time, yet without this 'scientific' comparison. Comparing them side-by-side really is the proof in the pudding, as they say. I think at the high end, as you noted, there is additional horse-power and the one will start to pull away; but hey, we don't really care about that. What really matters is what is going on at the low and mid range revs in terms of torque!
Thanks again for this video; very interesting indeed!

Well one thing is for sure, all of those bikes sound and look beautiful and I couldn't have a bad time riding any of them. I hope you find something special to ride home on from H-D for the 120th Anniversary ! I kind of lament not waiting till then, just popped for a 2022 Iron 883 as my first bike at 48 years old after completing the H-D new rider course. Found riding to be even more pleasurable than I thought and found I really enjoyed taking the course and look forward to taking as many riding courses as I can find. If you don't open in Las Vegas soon, my first retirement trip will be FL to tackle the "snowman".
They looked pretty even for the most part....makes me feel better about keeping my 114 RoadGlide mechanically stock.
Great stuff Jerry. Always cutting through the bull and telling it like it is. Love my stock 114. Thanks.
Secret hand signals that was beautiful, I have people that I ride with that do the same thing, they do all this weird gesturing like I am involved in a game of charades or something and I should know what they mean.
Jerry, one of the many skills you possess is your uncanny ability to go for rides on days where it's not raining. I'm over here in Ocala and if I even think I might go riding, it will start to rain, like this very moment as I'm writing this.
Great to see the 107 performing nearly on par with the stage 2 114. Glad I stuck with my mostly stock 107.
Maybe Joe's in the Masons given them secret hand signals! Thanks were
Jerry, you were killing me with the "secret hand signals" Joe was doing. I love when other riders do that and I have no clue what they're saying. Or when they pull beside you to carry on a conversation at Highway speeds. How the hell am I supposed to understand them?
The 117 and a stage 2 114 are pretty close. Of course, it could depend on things like what exhaust and what breather you have as well. Not every stage 1 is the same. I have a 107 with a stage 3 (119). It’s fast, but is a very smooth fast.
I've ridden bikes with the 96ci and 103ci. I just bought a 2005 Super Glide with the 88ci with 5 speed transmission and it has plenty of power. The other day I was running 70 mph easily and realized I was only in 4th gear.
That being said, I wouldn't put a ton of money into stage 1 or 2 or whatever. To each his own.
I've got an 05 fatboy with the 88ci, i did a set of torque cams and stage 2 air cleane with a good dyno tune. I noticed the power immediately. Idk if it was worth the money but i do enjoy it. I've been debating on building my 03 Roadking but i want to go really big. The all stock motor has only 7000k on it.
I skipped the stage 2 and just went straight to stage 3 on my road glide special. HUGE difference.
only mods needed are legend suspension- that’s where the upgrade money needs to go - suspension
Great comments. I have a 2020 Street Glide Special with a Stage 3, Rhinehart Slip-ons and went from a 114 to 122 cubic inches.
The motorman is correct. But, I do see and feel a significant power gain as the rpm's increase and the bike wants to keep going and going.
The power increase is amazing. Do I need it? I don't think so, but it's nice knowing she can blast off with a twist of the throttle.
Most of my previously owned bikes, I went with a Stage 2 upgrade and have been pretty happy. My latest is a 2017 Road King (107) with a SE-447 torque cam, this is an excellent upgrade compared to the stock performance IMO. Now, I just purchased a 2023 Street Glide ST and all I can say is wow! This will be my first bike, I wont upgrade to a Stage 2! Great video comparison, thank you! Subscribed!
That St is that big of a difference? I've got a 2017 road king special, stock besides an exhaust and a Vance and Hines tuner for the decel pop.
Thanks for clearing this up for me. I just got a new Electra glide standard with a 107. It's bone stock, gets awesome fuel mileage, is quiet, and has plenty of "pull" even with my wife on the back I don't feel that it's under powered
Glad it helped
Thanks for doing the comparison that was great enjoyed watching beautiful bikes I love that Revival its got the old look just like me take care have a great day
I wish you could have done a stock 107 against a stock 114 since there is always so much controversy about which one to buy if you have the option. Everyone says the 114 is much more powerful but I test rode both and didn't feel much difference at all. I bought a 107.
For my next trick, I'll be doing a stock 107 vs a stock 114. Stay tuned.
SE stage II is crap, my 2017 se stage II was on the bike when I got it. I changed to S&S cams with powervision tuning and a stock 114 is no competition.
@@winchestereod nice, who did your install? I want to put a stage 2 on my new softail
@@j.vosier6786 I did the install myself.

Two senior citizens having fun, racing a bit on local roads under the pretence of a " scientific " motorcycle comparison!😎😎😁😁 !! Good of you, Jerry. Greetings from the Netherlands
Leaving bikes in stock form is the way to go. This way you spend the least money, you have the fewest problems, and the best longevity.
If you want a faster bike, just buy a faster bike (Pan Am!) that is designed to handle the additional performance.
Hi Jerry and Donna, I’m in Spring Hill, hope to meet you guys soon. I trust Miss Donna is up and about, God bless. Nelson from the Caribbean, thank you.
Hi Nelson....donna still has a few more months of PT and getting her right hip/leg stronger...she's hanging in there and getting better every day, thanks fo asking.
So in put in Screaming Eagle cam chest plate, oil pump and a torque cam. Harley tune. I notice a nice bump in power especially 3000 to 4500 rpm..over stock with Khrome Werks mufflers and stock cat headers.
Great video! It must have been fun to shoot! I did put a Stage II kit in my 2015 RK 103 but only did so because the heads were coming off anyway due to a serious head gasket leak. A new set of cams, oil pump and plate, gaskets, push rods, etc. (thanks to S&S) and a Stage II engine was born. Maybe 10% - 15% more power. Was it worth it? Yes in my mind. The engine was getting torn apart and put back together anyway so an extra $2K for the Stage II kit was something I was willing to try and invest in. To each his own. I'm glad I did it. Used to ride a V-Rod and a super hot Sportster 883 converted to a 1200. I like extra power and torque out of a bike. I wanted that extra punch a Stage II kit has given the RK. However, don't expect miracles. A good upgrade but not a massive difference if you are looking to go to a Stage II from a Stage I.
Enjoyed your comparison, But I believe a better test would have been swapping bikes between riders, 2 runs each, swap riders.
Believe me. I've tried this roll on thing 6 ways from Sunday. The rider makes no difference. It's hitting the throttle at the exact same time on both bikes and that's harder than you would think.
They sound great winding up
The 4 gear roll on was pretty close
Awesome comparison!! Great job!
Great video Jerry. Nothing reckless I saw here. Good info. Love the sanctimonious comments of folks who probably do not have your riding skills & of course they've NEVER done anything like this. RIIIGGGHHHTTT.

This video is perfect timing for me. I was just at a HD dealer today learning about the different motors since I have a 2009 Goldwing gl1800 and if I go to HD I want comparable or more power. Thanks for the real world comparison.
You won’t find comparable power in HD’s Garage. Goldwings have 85% or more torque from just off idle to redline. I don’t think the numbers even match, maybe at one point in the rev range. I’ve never seen a factory HD that can pull away from a Wing. Yes, it has 4 more cylinders I realize lol
@@Kwhopperfan Thank you!
@@krispy1k take an HD for a long test ride, and see for yourself. I owned a new road king for three months last year, traded it in and took a $5k loss. Owned a BMW R18TC this year, traded three bikes in to buy it, INCLUDING my ‘13 Goldwing only to trade the R18TC back in and bought my wing back. Bought a used victory vision for that cruiser Vtwin slot that needed filled, couldn’t be happier.
These new (5 year old now) M8’s from HD are the best engines performance wise they have ever built but my brothers 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner matches if not bests HD’s current factory offerings, and that’s air cooled.
@@Kwhopperfan I definitely need to ride one yet. Not in a hurry to do anything for a bit so I have plenty of time.
@@Kwhopperfan The numbers on the Cycle World dyno show a 2020 DCT Wing does 90 hp and 102 lb-ft. A 2021Street Glide 114 put out 83 hp and 113 lb-ft. I know the Honda revs up faster, but the Harley put outs more torque from idle.
Some bikes run stronger than others, but I agree, might as well save your money if you go to a stage 2 with a Harley branded cam, but IF you go with an aftermarket cam, you will notice a much bigger difference.
Yes but then you void the warranty.
Great video…I have a 2012 Road King Police bike
Well that has stopped me from thinking a cam would make a big difference. You saved me $1,800!
You're welcome. The M-8 Harleys and even the twin cam 103 bikes have more power than you'll ever need in stock form. Is more power better? Sure, but the cost doesn't seem worth it to me for such a little change in performance.
Jerry, the sound of a stage 2 & 3 is amazing though. They sound like a twin cam!
Love my twin cam
I've had a stage 2 torque cam 107 ultra limited. Now on a stock 114 road glide limited. They feel close power wise. I did notice on the stage 2 really comes alive 3k rpms to about 4.5 RPM. I did feel like you lose power down low. So these low speed roll ons will be close. We got some good back roads here in north FL you can really open em up😮
Thanks for the video motorman - excellent for us customers, terrible for the aftermarket corrupt OEMs...😆
The power adders do work. It's just a matter of, is it worth the expense for a little more power.
I agree that Harley cams are not much better than stock. However, there are some really great aftermarket cams that preform extremely well with the right tuner.
Jerry, stopped at PR Harley Davidson and had very little inventory.
I just bought a 2020 heritage with the 114. More than enough power. I think some slips on that are full through, just for the sound is perfect for me
Great idea for a video Jerry , just maybe should of swapped bikes through it more , to see if it was more the rider differences as it appears
Switching riders wouldn't make a difference. It's not easy getting both throttles opened at the exact same moment.
@@motorman857 didn’t appear so
I rode a Harley for the first time ever yesterday. Test ride at a dealer. I did end up buying the bike….a 2023 Road Glide ST with the 117. I’ll say this however, coming from sport bikes and a road racing background…..it was jaw dropping shocking how slow these bikes are 😂. But my new bike does look cool😂🤣.
That 117 is no slacker. Congrats on the new bike.
Jerry, have you thought about a cam for your 117 Lowrider S? I hear if the screaming eagle cam is installed by the dealer within 60 days of purchase, it is covered by the factory warranty? The bike runs so good stock though I’m hesitant to mess with it. I’ve made that mistake on some cars over the years that I should have left well enough alone. I would appreciate and value your opinion.
I did my stage 2 one month ago, with a Screaming Eagle 447 Torque cam, I am very please with the Mod, had done stage 1 last year. I was very happy AFTER doing the Smart Tune with the Street Tuner.
When we put a stage one on my 1015 103, it felt like it was going to buck me off on take off. I like to make the chicken sign on top of my helmet to those people that use stupid hand signals.
I plan to do a torque cam on my 107 along with new headers, once the warranty runs out. I don’t really care about the performance gains. I’m not racing anyone. I just want the improvement in sound.
Great comparison. Thanks!!
I have the stg 2 torque cam, cat delete, SE cans, SE tuning. ‘20 FLHTK. Better filter in the stock housing, meh. Velocity intake, slightly better. Extreme Velocity, it’s quite happy with that. IMO it’s worth it, I prefer a bump in power without warranty issues.
Did you ever find out what those hand signals were trying to tell you? I think he was just swatting at flies in his helmet!
Did the stage 2 bike get a mapping so that the computer knows what to do with the higher air flow?
If that remained stock, I guess no wonder it still rides like stock.
If it's adjusted, this video is a surprise.
What cam did you use in the 114? If it’s just a Harley Torque cam, my opinion is, don’t waste your money. If you use a quality aftermarket cam with a good exhaust system and intake a 107 stays right with a stock 117. The 114 would probably smoke it. Harley’s performance parts are pretty mild in comparison with other brands.
I think your right regarding kicking in at higher rpm. I have a 107 with torque cam and find it pulls best at 3200+ rpm when opened up on the hwy. I thought it would be more notable from dead stop. To me it was worth it because I definitely think it pulls better when passing cars. I also had it tuned with the SE tuner which I hear is crap so I'm curious what an aftermarket tuner would do?
I'm sure an after market tuner will get you much better results. But then you'll void your warranty and in states where there's an inspection, you'll probably fail the smog test with an after market tuner.
The supreme court just came down hard on Harley Davidson about the whole voiding the warranty bs. There not allowed to that anymore. Technically they weren't to begin with, but no one was forcing it from the government or not enough customers where fighting it.
@@Nightsider-xr5lx Not true. You need to read the order from the SC. They can still void your warranty if a 3rd party tuner/part is deemed a contributing factor to any drivetrain problems.
A cop street racing
I LOVE IT
Most cops are adrenaline junkies!!! 🤣🤣🤣
What about the sound that a cam adds. Cans add sound+performance
Great video. I do think however, if you used an aftermarket cam like the Woods or S&S 475 with a high flow AC and good exhaust, and a proper tune, that bike would rip. The Screamin Chicken tuner is garbage. I wasted $350 on that thing. I now have a stage 1 with Power Vision 4 tune from Fuel Moto, and my bike feels totally different.
Where did you get the seat on the revival? I have been trying to find one like that for mine. Thank you for any info.

@@motorman857 thank you for the info. Awesome idea.

One thing I don’t like about the M8 engine are the plastic hydraulic lifter cuffs. I would like to know their failure rate and miles expected to get out of them?
117 stock 94 rwhp & different cam than the 107/114
My 107 Road King stage 1 was 77 rwhp stage 2 horsepower with untuned SE stage 2 map for dyno 94 probably gain with smart tune.

The 447 torque cam really helps on our 107 Tri-Glide since we always ride 2 up
I was curious about that same setup. 17 Ultra limited with a 107 and am always riding 2 up. Shes definately not under powered , but wondered if it was worth it. You get a noticeable difference ?
Did you watch the video?
@@motorman857 . For sure i watched all of it. Im more curious when theres weight involved and if its worth it. From what you did , definately not worth the money. BUT , i guy who spent the money , will tell you its worth it :)
@@moefugger For some people, a little more power may be worth the money. Others may not. I think if you want a better sound (louder) a slip on muffler like Tab slip-ons with the 4 inch mufflers and medium baffles is all you need. The stock OCM will adjust the mixture for that exhaust set up. With no baffles or the zombie baffles, you will need a tuner or you may be running too lean and you will feel the loss of low end torque. Personally, I don't think the stage 2 was worth 1200 bucks to get that little extra power. I already had the mufflers and the Screaming Engle air kit. If I had to buy the mufflers and the air kit and pay 1200 bucks more for the cam and labor, I wouldn't have had it done.
@@motorman857 . I have the Screaming Eagle 4 inch cannons and think it sounds pretty good. Not too loud and nice at a cruising speed. Thx for the content Jerry , i've watched a ton of your videos, great stuff !
By a BMW 1600GTL if you want more power and performance. Plus you never have to tweak the engine for power. The power is there from the word go!!!
But you'd still have to look at that BMW. Ouch!
I have a 2019 street glide special (114 c.i. engine). Have been thinking of upgrading to the stage 4 kit. For the last year I have been using 87 octane and the bike runs fine for the most part. Will I be able to use 87 octane with the stage 4 kit ?
First, 91 octane is the minimum for all Harleys. A stage 4 will also need a minimum 91 octane and run cooler on 93.
I have a 2018 FLTRU with a 107, I noticed a huge difference when I went to the stage 2 power cam, not only in power but improved fuel economy. It really comes to life after 4500rpm and tops out at 6200 now. For me was worth the money.
You must have gotten it tuned as well. I wonder if tuning made the most difference.

Jerry like to see you get a Moonshine Harley performance build done
It's been my experience with Harleys for the past 23 years that the more performance parts you have, the more heat and the more problems you'll have. So no thanks with the Moonshine performance build.
Did you have them dyno tuned?? I have 2012 Road King with stage 3 hp kit, Vance & Hines power duals and rush slip-ons. Dynoed 92.5 hp at rear wheel plenty of power for me. Stay Strong and Be Safe !!
Since I ride on the street, I felt this would be a better comparison than a dyno run. In addition, if you had the same bike on 5 different dynos you'd get 5 different power figures.
@@motorman857 : SO do I !! I had the bike dyno tuned after the work was completed to get the most out of it. Stay Strong and Be Safe..
@@motorman857 . This is exactly what people need to see. Real world side by side comparison , not what some machine says you have for power. The Butt dyno is best !
Since the pull-away is at high rpm, presumably the stage 2 cam in for HP rather than torque. Not surprising that this doesn't make much difference at low rpm. You want to cam for HP if you're essentially riding like on a track and keep the engine revs high.
The blue and white police bike has the torque cam not the high rpm cam.
I just wish I could afford anything 107 or 114 all I can find anywhere close to my budget are the 103 bikes many of them with twice the miles as my 88 twin
A.W. Koonce, save your money. Don't waste your money on another Twin Cam. Ride your TC 88 until you have the money for an M8. If the economy keeps going the way it is, the people who are overextended will be selling what you want. I owned an 07, 96in, Road King for about 12 years. It was a good bike. I had about 65,000 miles on it when I sold it. I would have never bought another new Harley if I hadn't test road an M8. Hands down, way better bike. Enjoy what you have for now.
My last two bikes were 103's...certainly the best of the twin cam series, maybe more reliable than early M8's? There are lower mileage (2O,000) 103's out there if you are willing to look. Whichever, ride safe?

Short answer(No!)
My stock Victory 106 would walk away from all three of these bikes.
Looking at the dyno numbers at Cycle World your stock 106 does make 83 hp like a stock 114. But it's torque falls short (103 ft-lbs vs 113).
@@sportyonetaubert5923 I was just teasing Jerry. I want a Harley Road King or an Indian Springfield. My bike does have stage one. They're all good motorcycles.
@@justingreen4450 Yes they all are good bikes, I'm having a blast on my Road King just riding and customizing it. That's my worst problem...I have more ideas than money right now! 😄
@@justingreen4450 Throw the 116 on the Springfield. Last Saturday a buddy and I when out for 5 or so hours - His HD SG has cams & a dyno tune - it doesn't back-fire anymore - yeah. We were at a stoplight on a road with a 55 MPH speed limit, and I goaded him into "getting on it" - my Roadmaster (stock 116 except for the intake) shot past him, and pulled further away every gear change. Next stop light he was a little bug eyed looking at me, and all I said was, "the big girl CAN move". He started telling me how good the *stock* exhaust sounded - I think it's too quiet, but on long trips it doesn't "drone".
@@sportyonetaubert5923 My old Victory Kingpin with the 100ci with High Compression Pistons ate 110ci Tire Shreader HD's for Lunch....The Freedom engine Victory's were Beasts...
Close only counts with hand grenades and Horse shoes. 2nd They wouldn't call it a STAGE 2 if it was the same as stock. Your a hell of a good rider but keep to the riders safety stuff.
