That's the perfect iPad for me. Keep in mind not all the people change their devices year to year. The last iPad I bought was an iPad Air 2 in 2014. And I'm still writing this comment on it, because my main purpose of it's existence was watching TH-cam and Netflix. Sometimes some web browsing and professionally I used it for Teams calls and also for apps for live sound mixing consoles like A&H dLive or SQ. I did not need anything else, and I would continue to use it if the battery would not become unreliable. My brother bought an iPad Air with the M2 chip and I loved it but could not justify the price on such low usage and since I know I won't use the Apple Pencil at all the 10th gen is perfect for my upgrade as it looks the same as the Air (which I love the look over the 9th gen by ba huge mile) and the camera in the middle is a big deal for me for the Teams meetings as I will look more naturally. So yeah I do get it in the year by year comparison it's a weird device, but for me it just ticks every single thing for a lower price than the Air. Keep in mind I used the 2014 till now with no issues for my usage so even if I get 6 years out of the 10th gen that's ok for me. So IMO there is a market for this product. I know I will enjoy it! I'm going over to iPad in the new year and reading your comments leads me to a question. Is the battery on your 2014 model still okay or is it like my Lenovo Yoga i.e. reaching the end of its life, neading charging far to frequently.
@@stephendeakin2714 it is not like dead dead yet, but it certainly requires charging a lot more frequently than it used to. And sometimes it is giving like low percentage problems - you think you have 9%, and it;s dead in a short while ;)
I just recently bought this ipad and I love it! People really say that there’s no real reason why this ipad should be an idea choice but I couldn’t disagree more! For me, the Magic Keyboard folio, the Landscape camera, the battery life and, obviously the fact its pink lol were the main reasons I got this iPad. I was flicking between this or the iPad Air 4 but I knew the Apple Pencil wouldn’t be something I’d use plus I didn’t care about the laminated display all that much (also non laminated are much cheaper to repair) as I was going to use it with the magic folio anyways so I didn’t care about the air gap. THIS IPAD IS GREAT, It looks amazing, the folio keyboard and camera are brilliant and it performs smoothly in day to day school work and home use. Shame no 128gb tho😢 I got 256 but it’s way too much
I am glad I went with the Tab S8 instead. Samsung let me traded-in my 5-6 years old S7 Edge for $200. Got another $100 discount. It comes with the S Pen. The case with keyboard and touchpad only costs $100.
I wanted to buy the Tab S8 plus instead of M1 iPad Pro cuz of Android, but when I looked at the software and processor, I picked iPad Pro, and I think in terms of software iPadOS is better than Android tablet OS at the moment.
@@dastaniam I mainly use tablets for note taking, annotating papers. I was debating between the iPad Pro and the Tab S8 since I am using a Macbook Pro as my laptop. It would be nice to use the iPad Pro as my 2nd screen. But I only needed to pay $400 for the Tab S8 with the S Pen after trade-in and discount. So, I went with the Tab S8 instead.

I will be getting this ipad as I am not a heavy user and I already have the apple pencil 1 and I don’t want to spend money on buying the pencil 2. I don’t see the charging and display as that much of a hassle too. Much better than my Ipad 7th gen ☺️
I’m right there with you. I still use my 6th generation and I have the Apple Pencil #1 so I’m extremely happy!! I didn’t want to spend money on another pen when my 1st one is perfectly fine. I don’t upgrade iPads every year so I think this will be a nice upgrade.

At this stage I feel like Apple or just capitalise in on all the tech. And charging us more for it. I love Apple products but there is no way I would buy this iPad as the price outweighs the specs. He left the company with a logistic expert that can squeeze out every last bit of saving and profits from suppliers and customers. I like my iPad 10 a lot more than my iPad 9. I like its fingerprint button (power button), the usbc plugin and the ability to swipe up and close an AP. I also like its minimal power consumption. I can charge up my iPad 9 and leave it closed overnight and it has about 75% power the next morning. I do the same with my iPad 10 and it still has 100% power the next morning. My iPad has 256GB of storage.
I bought this at Amazon it was $100 cheaper, but I don’t know that I like it. Seems to be a pain in the you know what. I just ordered last years model. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE I pads I have had one for yeas.. along with my iPod they have become appendiges. For this 71 year old that is saying something. Hardly watch the tv anymore. I use the iPad instead. The 10th generation is a pain to use. In all fairness I just started using it yesterday. I will probably get used to it. But will continue to use the 9th generation as well. I do very much prefer the home button to swiping. Please put it back.
it is NOT a replacement, also NOT a new tier for ipad 9 but a continuation of the generation of baseline ipad lineup, but with revamped look. it's literally the ipad 10. 😭 they're still selling ipad 9 together with these ipad 10, just like how they're still selling the iphone 13's eventhough the iphone 14's are already out.
I'm an iPad Air (3rd generation - 2019) owner and I'm thinking about upgrading. I'm between iPad Air (4th generation - 2020) and iPad (10th generation - 2022). Which one would you suggest to me?
I personally won’t be getting an iPad 10th gen… not because I think it’s a bad tablet or anything. It’s just that I don’t feel the need to upgrade from my iPad 9th gen that I got back in January. However, the colors make me jealous and it’s great to see the iPad get the new design and USB-C and the better placement of the front camera is amazing so I DO think the new 10th gen has it’s merits… but as a college student, the one thing that sort of kills this even being an option for me is the situation with needing extra tools to use an Apple Pencil. Sure, I use a Logitech Crayon with my iPad 9th gen anyway… but on principle, I think Apple has kind of slightly gutted the 10th gen’s use as a student device since I’m sure if a school is getting the devices, they’d buy the Pencils from Apple… and if someone loses the converter dongle, the Apple Pencil is basically an expensive stick. Seeing the device from a student’s perspective, I think this is where the 9th gen has a significant advantage over the 10th gen… and all Apple needed to do to prevent that was to make the Apple Pencil 2 compatible with the new iPad instead.

Good old days when Steve made pro and consumer products each having their advantages and different design language. Nowadays Cook just cooks the consumers making consumer products as cheaper- style pro model. It’s not as cheaper and it’s just a replication of pro, dropping some options. I understand Tim’s decision and its merits, but for consumers, Apple is just a boring lazy company exploiting the loyalty consumer pool which Steve has made. The product lineup is so messy and reminds me of when just before Steve came back. Good luck though
You can find Jobs' old interviews and speeches where current Apple's direction and product management directly contradict what he said and envisioned back then. There's no one to compete with Apple's unique, smooth, seamless, and consistent user experience that you get from their software. So they can get away with making disappointing hardware and charging them at an unreasonable price, because people are buying and there's a market. And the more money they have, the more good software engineers they absorb. The cycle continues.
There are Apple competitors but they are locked outside the US for “national security”. Google is the only one that can compete with Apple in the US but it seems to have terrible product commitment
I got my 8th gen iPad and im still happy with ti. No need to upgrade. Its powerful, IT HAVES A HEADPHONE JACK. The only bad thing i found on that is the 32GB and i was too cheap to go to the 128GB. But overall, great iPad!
As someone who is now also officially not on the newest iPad (I got a 9th gen) I too am happy with my current set up and see no real reason to upgrade. The chip is still powerful, the headphone jack still lives, the non laminated display still looks great, and I find that Touch ID just works better on a home button than on a smaller power button. That said, I intend to use the 9th gen for as many years as I can before eventually getting a new iPad… but that won’t be for a quite a few years. Still, I love watching videos like these to keep up to date with tech news.

Tomas de Gama, why don't you comment that in this ipad 10 in the area of the smart connector for the keyboard you can leave an Apple Pencil attached? The smart connector is magnetized and can be used to hold the pencil perfectly...didn't they mean it or did you not know? Greetings.
I was thinking about getting a new iPad because the one that I have now (7th gen) is currently running out of space, so when I heard about the 10th gen coming out, I was happy until I saw that you have to buy a dongle to charge a pencil, it’s idiotic to me
Why do people go on and on about the Apple Pencil? My Apple Pencil had the lightning adapter in the box and I never charged it via the iPad to begin with. It looked just weird.
Just got the iPad 9 from an premium reseller store. They had a promotion so managed to get a 64GB Wi-Fi model for a 320 USD plus they gave me for free a really nice cover that otherwise costs 40 USD here. I think it was a daylight robbery from my side) Really nice replacement for iPad 5 that is still working great, only reason to upgrade it was a need of Apple Pencil. So I wouldn't worry about performance, this things ages slowly.
The base iPad is basically an iPad SE. 64GB is ridiculously low and would make sense only for businesses that don't need to store much and only use a few apps. However, for a normal consumer it doesn't make sense unless they opt for the 256GB model.
I consider 64gb enough for a normal user that will probably not do any crazy editing or draw the sistine chapel on a basic ipad. This is clearly a day to day user device that doesn’t need 256 gb. I have 256 gb on my iphone, will soon reach the 2year mark and i’ve never deleted a picture, have hundred of useless apps that i have been storing just because i can’t be bothered to uninstall and reinstall an app that i use once a month 🤷♀️ so why would you need more than 64?

Ipad 9th generation is mch better the batery life, ive been using my ipad 9th generation for 4years up to now and i can say that the battery life is still in good condition but i wanna upgrade to 10th generation i am attracted by the design and the size is much bigger.

She definitely wouldnt need 256GB if she is only browsing the internet/playing games. 256GB is mainly required for those using the ipad for education/work purposes due to the huge amounts of files/photos/apps.
Been using ipad 6 (mainly for procreate), still solid performance and battery. Storage and ram is the only issue (ram for procreate 4k and up project layers limit) should i upgrade to 10th gen? I need affordable ipad in which i can use more layers in procreate for 6k canvas size. Please tell me

Well I thank you for your tutorial. I've got a very nice Christmas and Valentines Day. Of course me being a Gurly girl. I got the Pink yet it's really to me a more deep rose pink with a tiny hint if mauve red. Of course due to the fact I had a Generation 5. I didn't really know the one to choose. As I'm also got a new Apple Max Pro 14. Which I also went with the high storage I think it was 512 Mb. I was very careful I ordered a Otterbox which was. Way overpriced for 50 US dollars. When I could have gotten a Mous case for the same or cheaper price. My partner. Dropped his brand new Pro Max 14 and broke the screen. I cannot believe it looks as if it has a BB gun shot in and then fractured outwards. His was also very hard to transfer his data. Which I could not understand why mine was fast and easy. My new I'd was easy yet his phone was horrible. I think it was a bad cell. Even before he dropped it. As we had to make 4 trips to the V. Store. It seemed all that they cared about was we purchasednitfmrom the Factory to get the sales price. So they were not very helpful at all which I find sad. We purchased 5 devices in 2018 from them and they acted the same. Don't care. Drive an hour each way to the next bigger Version store. So of course I'm not the I think 256 GB It's gotta last me a long while I just ordered me a good shock resistant case as well as screen protectors. They have a wide selection and must have some reason for the weird way they are doing these "upgrades", the price is the only thing that has changed much on any of them. I maybe they have reached the zenith of innovation in their labs. I think they are struggling to keep their products separate from each other to push customers to reach for that next best option, thus making more money on each sale.
The pricing structure of Apple is to get you to go to the next model, which eventually gets you up from the basic iPad to the iPad Pro, giving you extra features which you probably don't need. I have always bought Apple products but the increase of 50% on the base model is a complete rip-off!
Im so used to 120Hz display that I won’t go back to 60Hz display. Also the speaker is better with the iPad Pro M2. It doesn’t heat up as much as the cheaper iPads. However the cheapest pro is £899.
If I was looking for a new iPad it would be either the 9 gen or the iPad Air 4 or 5, I wouldn’t even consider this new 10 gen at the price Apple is asking

Remember 256 is not suppost to be used all in one sitting. So it would last you around 3-4 years

I just got the s8 ultra and its the best tablet to date and I got it for £700 because if trade in.

They use the 1st gen Apple Pencil because of the camera placement, so there can’t be a magnetic charger for 2nd gen charger
Still getting it done with 32g storage on my iPad 8. Just got the iOS 16 update. Will be using it for a couple more years at least.

They could have released an Apple Pencil 1 with built-in Type-C tip if they don't really want users to use the 2nd gen.

There's no one to compete with Apple's unique, smooth, seamless, and consistent user experience that you get from their software. So they can get away with making disappointing hardware and charging them at an unreasonable price, because people are buying and there's a market. And the more money they have, the more good software engineers they absorb. The cycle continues.

There are Apple competitors but they are locked outside the US for “national security”. Google is the only one that can compete with Apple in the US but it seems to have terrible product commitment
I got my 8th gen iPad and im still happy with ti. No need to upgrade. Its powerful, IT HAVES A HEADPHONE JACK. The only bad thing i found on that is the 32GB and i was too cheap to go to the 128GB. But overall, great iPad!
As someone who is now also officially not on the newest iPad (I got a 9th gen) I too am happy with my current set up and see no real reason to upgrade. The chip is still powerful, the headphone jack still lives, the non laminated display still looks great, and I find that Touch ID just works better on a home button than on a smaller power button. That said, I intend to use the 9th gen for as many years as I can before eventually getting a new iPad… but that won’t be for a quite a few years. Still, I love watching videos like these to keep up to date with tech news.

Why do people go on and on about the Apple Pencil? My Apple Pencil had the lightning adapter in the box and I never charged it via the iPad to begin with. It looked just weird.

Just got the iPad 9 from an premium reseller store. They had a promotion so managed to get a 64GB Wi-Fi model for a 320 USD plus they gave me for free a really nice cover that otherwise costs 40 USD here. I think it was a daylight robbery from my side) Really nice replacement for iPad 5 that is still working great, only reason to upgrade it was a need of Apple Pencil. So I wouldn't worry about performance, this things ages slowly.

The base iPad is basically an iPad SE. 64GB is ridiculously low and would make sense only for businesses that don't need to store much and only use a few apps. However, for a normal consumer it doesn't make sense unless they opt for the 256GB model.
I consider 64gb enough for a normal user that will probably not do any crazy editing or draw the sistine chapel on a basic ipad. This is clearly a day to day user device that doesn’t need 256 gb. I have 256 gb on my iphone, will soon reach the 2year mark and i’ve never deleted a picture, have hundred of useless apps that i have been storing just because i can’t be bothered to uninstall and reinstall an app that i use once a month 🤷♀️ so why would you need more than 64?

She definitely wouldnt need 256GB if she is only browsing the internet/playing games. 256GB is mainly required for those using the ipad for education/work purposes due to the huge amounts of files/photos/apps.

Been using ipad 6 (mainly for procreate), still solid performance and battery. Storage and ram is the only issue (ram for procreate 4k and up project layers limit) should i upgrade to 10th gen? I need affordable ipad in which i can use more layers in procreate for 6k canvas size. Please tell me

Well I thank you for your tutorial. I've got a very nice Christmas and Valentines Day. Of course me being a Gurly girl. I got the Pink yet it's really to me a more deep rose pink with a tiny hint if mauve red. Of course due to the fact I had a Generation 5. I didn't really know the one to choose. As I'm also got a new Apple Max Pro 14. Which I also went with the high storage I think it was 512 Mb. I was very careful I ordered a Otterbox which was. Way overpriced for 50 US dollars. When I could have gotten a Mous case for the same or cheaper price. My partner. Dropped his brand new Pro Max 14 and broke the screen. I cannot believe it looks as if it has a BB gun shot in and then fractured outwards. His was also very hard to transfer his data. Which I could not understand why mine was fast and easy. My new I'd was easy yet his phone was horrible. I think it was a bad cell. Even before he dropped it. As we had to make 4 trips to the V. Store. It seemed all that they cared about was we purchasednitfmrom the Factory to get the sales price. So they were not very helpful at all which I find sad. We purchased 5 devices in 2018 from them and they acted the same. Don't care. Drive an hour each way to the next bigger Version store. So of course I'm not the I think 256 GB It's gotta last me a long while I just ordered me a good shock resistant case as well as screen protectors. I'm really going to baby it until Friday when they arrive. Thanks for your review. Yet I was hoping to see a little more how to set the lock by fingerprint. Have a great week.

They have a wide selection and must have some reason for the weird way they are doing these "upgrades", the price is the only thing that has changed much on any of them. I maybe they have reached the zenith of innovation in their labs. I think they are struggling to keep their products separate from each other to push customers to reach for that next best option, thus making more money on each sale.
The pricing structure of Apple is to get you to go to the next model, which eventually gets you up from the basic iPad to the iPad Pro, giving you extra features which you probably don't need. I have always bought Apple products but the increase of 50% on the base model is a complete rip-off!

Im so used to 120Hz display that I won’t go back to 60Hz display. Also the speaker is better with the iPad Pro M2. It doesn’t heat up as much as the cheaper iPads. However the cheapest pro is £899.
If I was looking for a new iPad it would be either the 9 gen or the iPad Air 4 or 5, I wouldn’t even consider this new 10 gen at the price Apple is asking
