Those early shovelhead engines were the best looking motor they made. IMHO.

I have a 68 flh myself it's called a flat side shovel not a shovel pan . They used leftover panhead lower ends redrilled oil passages a new oil pump in 68 they went with a stator in 70 . I use to have a bike shop I have owned my 68 since 78 I'm 66 years old. Sorry I can't stand it when people call that engine a pan shovel. It's unique the motor was made for 4 years no other Harley motor has that title. By the way that's a beautiful machine thanks for sharing. 👍✌️ From SC

Yes! I recently purchased the 2023 and it’s beautiful! How cool would it be to have the 68’ to park beside it?!?! One question… why is it so quiet? I thought all the older Harleys were loud. I miss that!
That would be incredible! They are not loud with the stock exhaust system like this one. It's actually quite rare to find one with original exhaust since most have been modified. You could put a loud exhaust on it easily, but would want to keep this system for originality and collectibility.

The stock mufflers from 65- 75 are actually louder than current exhaust!! And in my opinion the best sounding. The turnouts actually are a little quiet as the fishtails. The Slash down cut are perfect like on my ,71

@Guappo4Prez2012 we can agree to disagree. There are definitely two very different Shovelhead engines. If you're a panhead expert maybe the bottom end of this engine looks familiar to you...

Not correct as claimed. Seat is NOT correct, petcock is NOT correct, missing passer foot pegs on both sides, missing the correct fender reflectors both front and rear, saddlebag emblems and reflectors are not present, aftermarket windshield. C’mon…, if you don’t know what you’re taking about admit it. If you do know better don’t misrepresent. This is a $13,000 bike at best.
Who said or expects it wouldn't have a single non original part of its restored? Also the seat and no rear pegs are original as this was originally a police bike.
When it's advertised as "fully restored and very original" anyone reading the ad would expect it to be..., that's who. In addition to what I previously mentioned; the paints not original. Front fender (especially the front fender skirt) is not original, the primary inspection cover is not original either. Look..., It's a nice bike, no doubt but that price is way higher than a true non-restored, fully original 1968 ElectraGlide would bring. Now a '65 ElectraGlide would bring that. Salesman...

Salesmen…, always claiming something is the best…, “nicest one out there” …., if you actually knew what you were taking about you might have some credibility. Look, some of us out here love old ElectraGlides, especially the generator shovels. When people post stuff that is inaccurate they might get called out. Sounds like you got your feeling hurt.
Question: How can you tell when a salesman is lying?
Answer: When their lips are moving.
No such thing as a pan-shovel..why is this even a thing? There’s no pans! The generator doesn’t make it a pan! I laugh every time I hear it!
I assure you, if you care to do the research, the terms "pan shovel" and "generator shovel" are indeed very real and very well-respected names for this generation of engine.
