    Every time I hear Terry talk about it, I relive it. It was the biggest tragedy in wrestling history along with David Von Erich. My heart bleeds when I see this because I know what could have been. We all know. It changed Terry's life forever. I remember when he walked out at the main event at Crockett Cup in 1987, and hugged Dusty and Nikita, it was the first time he had been seen since the accident.

    Magnum TA was a vicious baby face. He was all business. A guy you didn't want to mess with. He had all the tools to become NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Along with his hard work and dedication, I'll give Dusty Rhodes a lot of credit for taking Magnum under his wing and giving him the push he needed to become a Superstar. I'll give Tully Blanchard a lot of credit because the feud he and Magnum had from June 85' until December 85' over the NWA US Heavyweight Championship was the BEST of the year! It was personal, it was vicious, it was bloody, and it was filled with drama. Their "I Quit" match in a steel cage at Starrcade 85' made Magnum TA a household name and people are still taking about it to this very day.
    Wish Magnum all the Best!

If he didn't get in that accident he might even still be doing guest appearances in the WWE today which I would have liked to see. That match for the title between Nikita koloff and Magnum TA was probably one of the best matches I've ever seen. Magnum TA is wrestling.... God bless you Magnum TA

    I remember back in thanksgiving day, 1987 at the uic in south side Chicago for starcade 87 chi town heat. we had rock n roll express vs midnight express in a scaffold match. road warriors vs Anderson and Blanchard for the NWA tag team titles, Dusty Rhodes vs Lex Luger for the U.S. title in a steel cage and Ric Flair vs Ronnie Garvin for the world title in a cage match. that card was excellent but what you didn't see, was better. it was before the cameras came on. Magnum TA walking to the broadcast table and I don't think there was a dry eye on that place when we saw Magnum.

You can tell a lot about a person by the timepiece they wear - Magnum is wearing a Rolex 18 karat yellow gold Presidential which tells me several things - A few are he has class - Style and he is in a Financial position that provides him the luxury of owning and wearing a high quality fine Swiss timepiece - The band is tight and looks to be in excellent condition. Without knowing any specific details about his financial situation I will boldly proclaim that he has done very well financially after he left wrestling and I am positive he did superbly financially during his years in wrestling. I respect you Sir and I tip my hat to you !!

    I saw the show of NWA World Wide Wrestling where David Crockett reported the accident and then I saw the show of NWA Pro Wrestling where Bob Caudle reported the same thing. The Thing is I Never saw those episode at that time of 1986, Where I lived at The NWA Shows were mysteriously cut off on channel U-68. and the channel became the home shopping network. But I read about it in inside wrestling talking about the accident and then I seen the car and was like Damn I hope he is alive. But IMO Magnum should have reclaimed the U.S. title and would have become NWA World Champion.

I like that Magnum is part of the Cauliflower Alley Club. He gets a lot of emotional support from the guys he worked with at those events.

    • @jonathanturbide2232
      @jonathanturbide2232 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Blake Martin I disagree, them being champions wouldn't have stopped the rise of the WWF or stopped promoters like Crockett to make incredibly stupid business decisions. With cable tv being involved in wrestling (WWF signing with NBC) and promoters like Vince/Watts/Crocketts wanting to be worldwide instead of staying in their own backyard, the territories era would have come to an end no matter who was given the NWA title.

      @@Saber808 I really love WWF but also love the NWA and AWA too, every promotion has its share of good and bad moments. I'm just stating facts my friend, that ultimately the Crocketts made a series of awful business decisions (buying dead territories, buying a jet, underpaying their top guys like Arn and Tully) that killed their momentum and their promotion. Vince mostly took advantage of the mistakes made by other promoters, it's a fact no one can dispute. Giving the belt to Magnum wouldn't have prevented the two Crocketts to self-destruct due to their inability to run their finances. If Flair couldn't do it, no one could.

    Magnum wrestled back when there were regions. Vinny Mac didn't take over everything yet. Had he continued, Magnum TA would have ended up in the WWF/WWE and had a program with Hogan, the Ultimate Warrior and the Macho Man. He would have been a multiple World champion and gone down in history as one of the greatest.

      When Magnum had his tragic accident in late 86, the WWF was already dominating the business and was getting bigger and more popular every month (and building towards Wrestlemania 3, the biggest event ever in America). WWF was on NBC, was going worldwide, was earning millions every month, and was signing everyone they wanted. As terrific and gifted as Magnum was, he wasn't enough to stop the WWF's growth and incredible amount of momentum.

    • @artmeddaugh6669
      @artmeddaugh6669 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonathanturbide2232Magnum was a man to build the company around. If Crockett had any business savvy, financial smarts, and a marketing machine in 86', they could have competed with Vince and stayed in business. JCP had the roster to compete. Magnum, Flair, Dusty, Tully, Arn, Ole, JJ Dillon, Baby Doll, the Road Warriors with precious Paul, the Midnight Express with Jim Cornette and Big Bubba, the Rock n' Roll Express, and the Russians were all on top. I'll take those top 20 talents and put them up against the WWF's top 20. They also had guys like Ron Garvin, Barry Windham, Manny Fernandez, Terry Taylor, Buddy Landell, Black Bart, Ron Bass, Jimmy Valient, the Barbarian, Warlord, Paul Jones, and others.
      1986 was JCP's best year until the tragic accident happened with Magnum, then everything started to fall apart for the promotion from there with all the stuff you mentioned. The only thing JCP had that was better than the WWF at the time was the actual wrestling.
