One of the finest metal vocalists in history. PERIOD!
I Disagree
@@Carnage20rv he said PERIOD, so it must be true.

Ive been listening to this album for just about 10 years now, and im still not sick of it. Literally a masterpiece.

Right?! Still listen to the songs daily and NEVER tire of it. It's just so goddamn perfect. 🤘

Christain Alvestrom is such an amazing singer.
ganondorfchampin AGREE!!
ganondorfchampin I agree 110%
You got that right

One of them him Denise and Howard Jones are the Goats period
Still one of the best MeloDeath Albums in history.
Absolutely true. This album is a melodeath masterclass, and should be mandatory for every metal fan to own.
These guys are the same geniuses of their style as Amon Amarth. I'll be 35 in March, and I've been listening to them for really more than 15 years. When I listen to them, I understand that time has not just stopped, but it never existed. I feel like I did 15 or more years ago.
@albutcher9152 that’s your opinion
Those cleans are amazing
Ryan Everden Now I want to hear some Strapping Young Lad thanks to that profile pic of yours.
?
your profile picture looks similar to the symbol on the cover of the album Alien by Strapping Young Lad
its harmonic double tracking...possibly even tripled.
Christian cleans and growls long with the Bjorns are the best metal vocals out there.
it’s 2021 and that chorus is still straight fire 🔥
Oh hey, I love you guys. Good to know you got good taste to go along with your own good music.
Lifeblood is my fav album of 2021, hope I can see you guys live someday! And holographic universe is still one of the best melodeath albums of all time
Christian is a fucking master when it comes to sing melodic death metal
Amen
This song takes me right back to be 14 in my room playing video games crazy how time flies. This chorus still goes so hard easily one of the best in the genre.
Undoubtedly agree. The chorus gives me chills.
I'm gonna be honest, when I first heard Christian's vocals, I pictured him as some Swedish blond pretty boy. Shows me how wrong I was to make silly assumptions. This dude is incredible.
Jonathan Lerch Has happened to many people with singers like angela gossow! :P
+FullMetalGuy He'd be just as badass if he was a blonde pretty boy.The music is what really matters. :) That and i'm a blond lol, sadly not Swedish though. :c
+Squeeky Squid Axenstars singer doesn't look at all like he sounds
FullMetalGuy I thought the same thing when I first heard Judas Priest.
Been a fan of Per for a while adore his playing it's so clean, refreshing, colourful and precise. His solos are just something else. Only just checked Scar out, fantastic stuff. Riffs, melodies are top notch. What a voice, perfect ethereal cleans n guttural powerful growls. What a band man, should be a hell of a lot bigger than they are!
Its 2020 and I'm still not tired of listening to this. Great vocals

And guitarwork, and Songwriting

Its amazing im not the only one still jamming to it in fact alot of people are! Congrats guys we made it.
Christian is just beyond incredible. Still think he’s one of the best metal vocalists out there and I miss him in SS so much still
Check out the Unmoored record from 2003 called Indefinite Soul Extension if you haven't already. Its soooo good.
He's also spectacular in Solution .45 . Check out the song "Gravitational Lensing" to start with. You won't be disappointed, promise! 🤘🤘
One of the best Melodeath bands of all time. This song has aged like a fine wine.
I have known about this band for so long and never checked them out until today. I hate myself for waiting so long, but I will be playing this song on repeat for weeks to come to make up for the loss. What a fucking hot ass chorus.
It really has. No other song has this sound
Why does everyone always say they’re still listening to this? It’s a timeless piece. So is this entire album.
Holographic universe was so good
Pitch Black Progress was very good too
Homemade Soap I like Symmetric in Design the best
Holographic Universe is a Masterpiece
Correction, Holographic Universe is so good. 👍
Prism and Gate is heavy as hell
Melodic death metal at its finest
The Cold Cell kinda of a random question... What would you call Inis Mona from Eluveitie? Melodic folk metal?
The Cold Cell folk metal
I'd say bands like In Flames, At the Gates, Arch Enemy etc. would have something so say about that statement.
Belakor disagrees
@@Tarski89 Arch Enemy is terrible bro. Also In Flames is only mid-tier melodeath
I want the pre-chorus and chorus of this song played at my funeral.
or just at your hospital bed
Kenneth Kroeger or anywhere
and then solo.....
Melkor still prefers amon amarth's runes to my memory
Are you dead yet?
Ever since this song came out, it still amazes me. By far one of my favourite songs of all time, amazing atmosphere and the chorus is fantastic. A well structured, produced and performed song. The best part is definitely 0:00 - 3:55, it's that good.
Damn how the hell did this slip past my radar. I am a pretty big metal head but I guess I need to search abroad for the best in Symphonic Metal Music.
Most probably the best album. I've been listening to it since it came out and still doing it.
this album blew me away. Just sayin. It has everything, good lyrics, good vocals, good instrumental, so on and so forth
These lyrics are just so good, I just wish the whole world understood how deep and thoughtful melodic death metal lyrics are when interpreted
i actually did not quite understand them
Amazing album! One of my top 20 (perhaps top 10) all time favorite albums.
This is the best piece of metal ever produced.
You know, now that I’ve listened to a ton more metal music, I’ve come to realize how truly unique their sound is. It’s still awesome, but unique. You really don’t find anyone else with this kind of sound.
Banging with my 2 kids, 2 and 4 years old in the living room to the pitch black album, FUCK YEAH still listening to this stuff since it came out
There are so many good fucking bands out there, like holy fucking shit. I've been on a run today discovering so many bands: Scar Symmetry, Dark Tranquility, INSOMNIUM, Socic Syndicate. Where the fuck has these bands been? Thank fuck for Spotify. Now I just need to buy the physical copies.
check The Unguided..its former sonic syndicate new band ( SS vocals, guitar and I think drummer not sure about last one tho)
If you like Scar Symmetry then you should definitely go check out Solution.45 (Scar Symmetry's vocalist's new band). Love Scar Symmetry but Solution.45 is a much better fit to Alvestam's style.

You're late, but welcome! There's far more for you to find. You're only beginning your life in metal.
welcome to heavy metal
You kids with your Spotify!! In my day we used carrier pigeons to share crappy bootlegs! Get off my lawn! lol
Kraków is looking forward to see you, guys! :)
Scar Symmetry has never been the same since Christian left. He played such an integral variable and key fundamental to the overall sound of this band.
The fact that they need two guys to do what Christian could do easily just shows how much he contributed and how badass he is.
They're a million times better now. This shit just sounds like generic Soilwork rip off when soilwork went to shit.
@@AnaerobicFermentation Soilwork and Scar Symmetry have very little in common when it comes to songwriting, guitars, arrangements etc. The things they have in common are that they both are great examples of Swedish metal and the singers do both clean and harsh vocals. Björn and Christian are both also baritenors, I would guess, and their sound texture at their most comfortable pitch area is quite similar - going up to high notes they don't usually sound similar at all, and Älvestam can do a lot "deeper" growls and maybe also higher belting than Björn. This by no means means that Björn would not be amazing singer, but there aren't that many that can utilize the extreme ends like Christian Älvestam. These singers and the bands are pretty much the best in their class.
@@AnaerobicFermentation Per is that you?
The chorus has GOT to be one of the most catchiest of any metal song EVER. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes also steal my crown by pyramaze
They got it right in the Scorched Quadrant as well:

(And in Overworld)
But yes, that was my first thought too when hearing this song.
One of my favorite bands, just perfect in all aspects
Song gets me nostalgic. This whole album is still as awesome as it ever was. Later SS is still good but this era with Christian on vocals was just supreme.
I love Bjorns voice but I can without a doubt say that Christian has the greatest voice in all of music. His range makes heads explode and angels cry all in one line
TwoTone98Z71 nah Bjorn "Speed" Strid > all
Christian is awesome, just a little too Pop-y
It's 2022. I've literally just discovered these guys. This song is a goddamn banger. Time to go through the back catalog! Thanks Algorithm!
Advice : dive into their discography, worths 100%
Holographic Universe is the best sounding Scar Symmetry Album
Top tier melodeath band even if they never became wildly famous. Amazing vocals and some of the most creative, genius solos I've ever heard
almost 9 million listens for 5 of their songs on spotify tho
@@CelatraWell they are probably pretty well known in the melodeath community.
Sometimes brilliance is fleeting because a random convergence of talent can only exist for a set period of time.
New to this band. Love the singer's vocals but I couldn't help notice the Helios like 90s Hetfield and Bjorn Strid headbutted really hard and became one. Killer solo, great band!
*looks like
Damn i miss old SS, Christian is such an amazing vocalist and he fits perfectly in that band.
Great musical contrasts
Ready for the new album
Insomnium, Soilwork, Wintersun, Ensiferum, Dark Tranquility, Engel, Eternal Tears Of Sorrow, Eluveitie, Into Eternity, Omnium Gatherum, I can name plenty more, too. What exactly is real melodeath?
Arch Enemy, Amorphis
Jesse Piccone be’lakor
The first 2 you named are prime examples what else do you need as an example?
I'm more of a power metal guy but I really liked this song.
Me too :D This band is like Masterplan with death metal :)
Heard this song about a month ago on Spotify- Scar Symmetry has gained a new fan. :) Hoarding all of their albums, now.
Best band in the galaxy old or new Scar Symmetry they still rock the cosmos.
I can just jamming out to this song all day and night
One of the most underrated bands. Awesome!
When clean and growling vocals are in harmony! You have “Scar Symmetry”
Or Opeth
The best voice ever!
Used to listen to this on my 30 mile ride to work every day years ago when it first came out. Don’t think it left my cd-player for at least 2 months. In my opinion, this is one of the best melodic death metal albums ever produced.
This song takes me right back to being a kid man still so good in 2020
Even though a lot of people don't like this kind of music, I find it exhilarating and interesting.
+Yogurt Metal is most interestingand deepest music genre for todaty. In 80's and 90's POPULAR music was much more better than it's in present.
this is the best genre!
Metal is one of the most popular genres, lol.
Some kinds of Metal. Not all. Metalcore is popular, Deathcore is popular. Glam was pretty big. But I'm pretty sure most people haven't heard of too many Black Metal bands for example
Bon Simpson
yeah i fucking died when i asked my friend about what BM he is listening to and he said "Slipknot".... I asked him about Immortal Gorgorgoth or Darkthrone he didn't knowed 'em...
Why is this only in 240p... One of the best metal albums of all time.
I actually only stumbled across this track during my research for a paper I'm doing on the crossover between post-WWII German and Nordic sociology and "death metal/screamcore" - I have a background in classical piano and flute and primarily listen to electronic and "classic" guitar rock but do try to keep as broad a horizon as possible...I also like certain bands like Tool and etc. That said, I've always had trouble engaging with this particular style bc I just found it too aesthetically "challenging." This is the first example of "melodic death metal" i've ever come across and I'm honestly really impressed. I had no idea this subgenre existed. Very talented group of individuals.
glad i got to see them live when Christian was still the singer
Yeah they're better now than in any part of the band's history.
I'll have to go see them again it's been a long time
Did you get to see them play this song live? There's literally one recording on TH-cam of SS with Christian live :\
You think In Flames are death core?? I may not have listened to their latest album much but I don't remember them having chugging breakdowns with pig squeal vocals. Chelsea Grin is a deathcore band. In Flames are melodic death metal.
The chorus is the shit!!!
That's rude, I thought it was pretty good.
I think that's what he meant
@@cmarizard841 it was a joke
The chorus is still the shit !!!!!!
The chorus is the shit-poop
the beggining of the song gives me fucking chills
I actually partyed with the singer for 3 days straight last week, and he said the band call's It melodic deathmetal. So there you go. And before you start arguing, remember these are seasoned musicians and they know what genre they play. Dont get hung up on genres.. No one cares
Enslaved to fart inside their hands.
#PrayForAllHandFarters
Old scar symmetry is awesome
Why not Soilwork? They started around the same time as the other Swedish Melodeath acts and have been playing it since, although a couple of their later albums are more Alternative Metal oriented. Are you new to Melodeath? There are actually a lot of bands similar to this when you actually dig deeper in.
Holy fucking shit!! Completely forgot about this song!!
That chorus is my favorite thing ever
Not gonna lie, it actually makes me angry that Christian has this much vocal range. Give us a chance ya talented so and so!
He sing much better in this album
I dunno if they should hire a live keyboardist or not...there are so many layers of keyboard lines in here...it would just be a lot cooler to see an actual guy playing this stuff life rather than having samples in the background...one of THE greatest bands to ever grace the earth, Scar Symmetry...truly!! \m/
Christian Älvestam is way better!! I miss him in SS. :(
solution 45 is really good. the few against many and miseration are also incredible death metal bands he is in.
Stone Sour?
It's 2023 And I'm Not Tired Listen To This Masterpiece.. Christian Is An Beyond Incredible Melodeath Metal Vocalist, Probably The Best Ever In All Time...
@dragothica Dude. I bought their entire discography off of my neighbor for like 10 dollars. I had heard about them, but not of them. He promised that they were good, he just didn't want their stuff anymore for whatever reason. Anywho, I put it all on my phone, decided Holographic Universe looked the most promising (judging from song names). I listened to Prism and Gate and bout shit my pants. Fave band. By fuckin far.
OMG this Swedish band is soooooo awesome why does sweden pull so great music :P
I know righT! DAYYYM
Best band ever
One word: Vikings
Every time I try to type Scar Symmetry I end up typing "Scary Symmetry" :| I think my brain's anticipating the "y" a little too early....
It could be worse. You could be typing "Justin Bieber" :)
Jason Watt
No one ever will typing Justin bieber if they search for Scar Symmetry. NO ONE EVER!
Xaido
While you're most certainly correct, contextually speaking I was acknowledging the fact it would truly be worse to have typed "Justin Bieber," instead, not necessarily implying whether a Scar Symmetry fan would, or would not, actually make such a search. But that doesn't make your statement any less truthful. I concur, sir :)
Just now I accidently typed scar mystery, so dont feel bad about it.
***** Put our typos together and you get "scary mystery" O_O
It's funny, i bet half the people here are here from back when they were in middle school/college visiting nostalgia. I remember when this band was barely discovered because they were foriegn.
who cares if its melodeath or hardcore or black metal or death metal....theres too many damn labels for metal anymore. just leave it alone...its a good song from a badass band...lets just enjoy the music and shut up about labels

Man Id love to hear you pull off the range Christian displays on this track. Though Id place a bet that you cant.
Christian was the only vocalist on this record. They have two vocalists now that he left, but didnt when he was in the band.
Yes Christian handles all the vocals on that record.
***** yeah. all vocals here are from christian. after they went their seperate ways, they couldnt find anyone who could do both vocals as well as him. so they got 2 instead. goes to show what a great vocalist you are when it takes 2 to replace you.
Well said chuck. The funny thing is the two guys they replaced him with cant pull it off.
Without Sweden we would not know quality metal. Sweden wins American stuff 10-1
No.
some american bands keep really good: megadeth for example
Well, I have not known Soilwork up till like 4 years ago and mostly heard their new stuff which does not sound Melodeath. So you suggest the older stuff for that? Well, most of bands similiar to this are not labelled as Melodeath by me. I am not going to argue if people disagree, but I am not going to read up a book definition on something that ain't a book. And no, I have been listening to Melodeath for quite some time, something like 10 years in this August. (Started with AA Versus the World).

Angela Gossow is truly a great vocalist, to be honest I never was a great fan of either SS or BMTH, and that being said, I have no problem with power metal of the likes of Avantasia or old rock, I don't just stick to 1 genre all the time (although it is kind of out of my genre, with me listening mostly to death and its derivations).
I can visualize an epic Dragon Ball Z fight scene compilation to this track :P
Then you should see neurologist.
Sucked after Christian left
This is pretty damn good.
I'm the same. I listen to any and all forms of rock, metal, punk, prog, the list goes on.
Finland and Sweden. All the best music pretty much comes from these two countries. Not saying that other countries didn't have good bands, but the amount of pure awesomeness that we finns and our loved/hated(in icehockey) neighbours bring to the world is just unbeatable.
