Hi Tiwana. I was shocked that when I went to CN I was told I had to add my CC even though I wasn't interested in the paid program. They said they are requiring all newcomers to pre register and add a cc that would auto charge after the trial. Of course, they said I could go in and cancel right after. I still don't like having to add a CC. Seems like this is the only way to get a basic profile. Is it necessary if I have an agent.
4-6 hours is way to long to work on a self tape. Using a cellphone, and a lv mic is what I use. I left casting networks all together there is hardly any real work principle tv/film work on there anyway. But I do know there is a lot of commercial and print/extra work available on there.
I used to do background about 10 years ago, did it on the regular. I came back to stat doing it again and learned that casting networks wasn't free anymore and had these crazy prices just to submit to roles. Guess I wont be doing background anymore here in nyc.
You sign up with Central Casting instead. Set up a profile for free, follow their guidelines for set-up, be sure to do the sexual harassment orientation, and set-up your calendar.
@@actinglessonslearned Thats what I first signed up with, Central Casting here in NYC. I still have a profile. The problem is they barely post anything anymore and it's only on their Facebook page. So they've made it so hard to find anything now. I dont know how else to go about looking for jobs, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, the casting agents are taking advantage. Way back when I was a young woman, I went to a casting agency and did my audition. It was part of their job to film the audition. Did this stop because of the pandemic?
A trickle down effect is occurring. It’s grander than Casting directors. Many Studios and Networks stopped funding offices for casting directors. All the adverse changes of streaming channels have made it hard for many independent casting directors to afford office space. But that doesn’t negate You’re point. The actor IS suffering, the cost of auditioning has unfortunately been passed onto the actors. And none of us care for the added cost and the headache. But, there are ways to make the situation nominal for the actor and casting directors are being very forgiving in their expectation. At least that is the case in Los Angeles. Also, SAG-AFTRA Foundation offers free Self-tape options both in house and virtual. Nonetheless, if you have a well-lit area by a blank wall, and a camera phone you should be okay. But I also understand some actors don’t have either and for seniors the tech is too cumbersome for them to bear and they quit.
💬 I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences with Casting Networks.

Geez, I’m sad to hear that. You should speak with your agent to see if they use it to submit you

The payment is only one now and cost 30 dlls a month. No more free or the other one. I try to sign a few days ago and that was the only price 30.
I know I recently learned that. This is the third change the made this year.
