I custom built a salmon rod that's 8'6" long, 2 pc, G. Loomis, 1/4oz - 5oz. lure weight, fast tip. I'm not going to do any casting with the rod. I just want to troll with it. I'll be using 80lb. Berkley Fireline. Was looking at a Abu Garcia 7000 series reel. I'm planning on building a St. Croix MH, 9' Casting rod, 1/4oz-1-1/4oz for casting 3/4 - 1oz lures ans spoons with 14lb fireline.
Hey Al, love the show. The musky at the end was mind blowing. You and your crew do an awesome job of putting quality information for serious fishing people. You are asking why would people want to remove the word god from money or the pledge. The main reason is to protect you and your freedom of religion. By adding the word god to our currency and the pledge, a precedent has been set. That precedent can now be used to put the words "allahu akbar" on your money or in the pledge. Oh, but that will never happen in a "christian nation". As the US becomes less and less christian, the stark reality is that you will become a minority. It is not a question of IF but WHEN. At that time, all your service in Viet Nam will have been to protect the right to have "allahu akbar" on our money. You grand children and their children will look back at this show and see how short sighted that idea was.
The U.S is Not a christian nation anymore than it is a muslim, hindu, buddhist, jewish nation...Why can't people understand it was founded on religion freedom -- 1st amendment.

It's really quite simple, it's because we have a constitution and that constitution is designed in such a way as not to endorse a particular religion. Having god on money and in the pledge of allegiance is unconstitutional and it should be removed. You can live in whatever fantasy world that you like, just keep it out of the public sphere.

Well... wasn't that a change ? We went from a fishing video to a political show. Our constitution forbids the federal government from forming a national religion, and our country was first inhabited by a lot of people who were seeking shelter from religious tyranny. We are guaranteed freedom of religion....and also freedom from religion. As far as the words "In God we trust" or "under God" goes They do not specify which god they are referring to. You as an individual can insert your "God" into that quotation....and let the others insert whatever god they choose. As for the rest of the heathens like myself, I think you make a lot out of nothing.

Excellent show. Great advice. I'm using 30 lb. with a fast tip heavy Salmon Rod. Is this ok to use?
