By far the best video I’ve seen on how to learn hand signals. I’m An IBEW Local 11 sounds and communication technician with a test on hand signals that I’m guaranteed going to ace this week on Tuesday. Thank you for making this video😊
A layman here. I think what they are talking about here is that for example you just raise the boom. When you do so the load will also raise further from the ground, so if you need to keep it safe and close to the deck, then you will have to lower the load as you raise the boom. The reverse would be true when lowering the boom. Just lowering the boom itself could cause the load to contact the ground and the lines to become slack. So you raise the load as the boom lowers. Also these RBLL and LBRL procedures will cause the load to move closer or further away from the crane. That’s just my rudimentary explanation. Actual certified riggers out there have at it. 😀
For me as a crane driver way too complicated. If you work this way you probably need 3-4 business days for a single lift 🤣 We use different Hand signals in Europe and there are less than here in this video

Good video, however IMO narration of what was going on would have been better than the music.
