Decisions...decisions...decisions!!! It is a glorious set...but then the SS'86 announcement...tough man!!

FR bro. As someone who owns these 3 in their other next best iterations, I just can't do it in good conscience knowing we are getting Megs and Soundwave for SS86. $100 for a Soundwave is a tough buy when I already got Siege.
Hey it's your choice...not yelling you to buy or not to. Siege Soundwave is not as good as Netflix Soundwave but Netflix Soundwave is yellowing. It's a dilemma only you and I can decide for ourselves.
I'm actually more interested in that Shockwave more than any of them. The Siege Shockwave was a near perfect "Voyager" figure, but that damn dark purple color... It was just way too dark, almost looking more black depending on the lighting. He barely stands out on my display. This Shockwave, however, is the perfect shade of purple. Why couldn't they have just sold him by himself as some random Legacy release? >_
We all said that, but they had to give us those wack extra parts instead which I hated.
They do look really good. I can't justify for myself to spend money on these figures, I'm satisfied with the ones I have.

Damn it. I was already torn with the rumored SS86 releases of Megatron and Soundwave coming. But this Shockwave looks SO much better than the WFC that I had to bite the bullet. I remember Shockwave having that grayish barrel in the original cartoon.
Yeah the barrel is light grey almost makes me think of Energon Shockblast
I totally would've gotten this set, but i recently got Studio Series Bumblebee movie Megatron and Soundwave so I'm covered on those 2. But then Bumblebee Shockwave was leaked. And i absolutely love those designs so I'll just stick with my Megs and Soundwave from Bumblebee and just buy Shockwave when he releases sometime later this year.
Well we are getting the comic version which is the only one being released, but with Hasbro ya never know
i skiped out on omega prim for this set because takara does a great job painting their figures.
Well Takara is good, but I think the Omega prime set is waay better but comparing the two is like comparing apples to other apples. This set does have amazing paint applications.
See Ed I was so close to getting this like very close but when SS86 Optimus Prime was leaked you said we'd eventually get SS86 Megatron I decided to hold off on it. Then those leaks came out and revealed SS86 Megatron. I was better off waiting. Even though these three are the last ones I need for my collection I'd rather wait for the Studio Series versions.

Yeah i got this on preorder, it looked good before it looks even better here that tank mode on megs is so good. They looked like red foil eyes on soundwave and i mean yeah chefs kiss buy these sell the old ones off if you need to, but this is the set to have imo.
Im starting to lean more towards that sediment. Boy Im so ready to pull the trigger on this...Thank God I covered my Haslab purchase this week🤣

That's the thing....it's the paint. But now we know we are getting the SS'86 versions of two, what would be the purpose of this set unless you just want these for the presentation...which is nice I may add

I really like all 3, but I have the first two in the normal versions, and will wait for SS86. I know the SS86 probably still won't have the paint of this set, but I am hoping the molds will be better. I need a Shockwave, but no doubt they will do him in SS86 as well. I'm going to do what I don't normally do, and wait sensibly ha ha

@superroboted sounds a plan. Its like Hasbro do poop decos knowing Takara will do Premium Finish and we will buy them all again. But this time, we have SS86 to come, so we can be smarter. No SS86 on the horizon though, and I'd be all over this like a tramp that just found some fries in the bin.

Excellent review! I needed all three of these for my collection and I bought it on pre-order in January? (I think). With this and the Snarl (pre-ordered last week) and Swoop and my collection is done (unless I find Thundercracker and Skywarp).

I totally canceled mine. I have too many Megs in my collection, I have two Shockwaves, and it’s a rumor of a new Soundwave. Also Starscream 86 has that same chair. They almost got me but I didn’t want it.
There WILL be an SS'86 Soundwave for sure. Also we will see him first in the retro comic series in that purple color first, then in the SS'86 line.
I already have Megatron and Netflix soundwave and coronation starscream…

Everybody keeps talking about SS '86 Optimus and Megatron. Obviously the engineering will be better if they are Commander class but is there going to be an increase in size? So does that mean Hasbro is going to do future figures in a bigger scale to scale properly with these guys? I guess they have to do something to keep people buying their figures but obviously that will come at a higher price too. I mean even Legends scale figures are putting their figures to shame but those usually sell at a higher price too. I'm going to play Devil's advocate and say that I don't mind a larger figure at a higher cost but it should have no waffling or unsightly gaps with better engineering and all the required accessories. If 3P companies can do it at a smaller scale, there's no reason Hasbro can't do it with mainline figures if they are going down this route of moving figures to a higher class that costs more. They produce more quantity so even at a larger scale, they should be competitively priced when compared to the 3P Legends.
3P legends are overpriced. 3P does it but the price of 3P Legends keeps going up, but people swear by it. Hasbro can't do what 3P does because they have to deal with more people as far as getting a green light to release a figure. Plus this ain't about 3P, this about the first. If you know how corporations work, then you know Hasbro won't do or even try to do what 3P does because they have to answer to executives about funding. Issa a lot maybe I'll cover it today
They painted them which is all well and good but did they paint or use better quality plastic for the problem areas that turned yellow or a brown color? That's what I'm worried about. Is this set going to be a waste of money or did they fix the issue is what I'm asking
I think the plastic quality will be fine. Also the grey parts on the WFC versions are replaced with that egg shell white plastic. Most of the issues with the WFC versions were in the grey parts turning yellow. However I have only seen one actual video of this but the quality of the video was subpar.
As someone who recently started collecting CHUG transformers, this is a must buy lol

It looks good, but maybe not as good as I would like it to be. A little more paint aps and colors in the right directions is not enough for me when I already have them.

While Soundwave, and Shockwave were easily the biggest reason to get this set, I will admit the Megatron despite the node looks really good. Also noticed based on the previous releases the shoulders are properly closed in whereas on the Siege and possibly Earthrise they were left open. A really annoyance as Miner Megatron's arms would pull off completely effortlessly. Cool to see at least Laserbeak included with Soundwave as the Legacy repack only came with the weapons. The premium paint is definitely making this look the cost of admission. Ship date I think is June whereas the Autobot 5 pack is July.
yeah I am beating myself up over whether to buy or hold....but the presentation is pretty darn good too!!!

Oh no, but there will be an SS'86 Soundwave. They are releasing the comic version of the new mold in the purple colors first. Kinda like how Dietrus was released before Hound scenario. It's definitely coming soon

The Japanese repaints are always so nice…but studio series is just overshadowing it so much. It’s a super deal if you’re missing any of the three aside from maybe megs.
It's a good deal if these were truly to be the only figures but we know SS'86 Megas is coming. The designers said themselves they wanna make a new mold for Soundwave in the 86 line as well
I can’t get this set. I already bought the Hound 5 pack and had 3 of those already. Hasbro is going TF off. Can’t keep up. Man I bought the haslab, Gears, Cybertron Starscream. Got several preorders in que. They are producing some good sh%#. I have to wait on SS86 Megs and Soundwave though.

Well there will be an SS'86 Soundwave that will be based on the G1 comic version which is said to be purple. So be on the lookout for that. Dunno if it will be a new mold but word on the street is the designers want to do this just because of Netflix Soundwave

It's an impossible sell for me. I'm good with Siege Shockwave, and I'm already tempted enough by the upcoming Marvel Comics Shockwave. Had Takara went with the odd light purple like they did with the original MP29, they might've caught my attention for sure. Ironically, the Marvel one IS almost that shade of purple.
I absolutely despise Earthrise Megatron, it's fugly as hell, and NO paint scheme in the entire Lost Galaxy can save that scorching turd. Can't believe Hasbruh had the audacity to apply the classic G2 Tank Megs colors to THAT garbage instead of the Siege Megs. Nope, I'll stick to Siege unless SS86 proves to be exponentially superior (which it must, or it'll fail badly). Hasbro or some daring KO manufacturer needs to grow a pair and do an excellent downsized version of the Combiner Wars Leader class Megatron. Imagine that mofo at about Voyager sizing...yesss!!
Soundwave...now this is tempting. But the shadow of SS86 looms large here, too. Problem is that there's supposed to be a pretool in either Generations Selects or Legacy United where he doesn't have his faceplate (exposed face!!) and he's purple...because it's supposed to be the Marvel Comics version of Soundwave. Why'd this be a problem? Because the Marvel version is apparently supposed to come out first...which sucks...like they really couldn't have both versions cone out at the same time?? 🤔🤨🧐🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ (If it's Generations Selects, then it's no problem at all...)
