It's nice to see a young person have such an appreciation for classic literature! A lot of young people seem to find classics boring, so it's admirable that you're able to appreciate the beautiful writing found in Great Expectations. Also cool that you enjoy Dante and Shakespeare.
1. The Outsiders 2. A Bird In The House 3. The Rosen Suicides (?) 4. Peter Pan 5. Inferno 6. Great Expectations 7. The Merchant Of Venice and Othello 8. Ariel 9. To Kill A Mockingbird 10. The Catcher In The Rye 11. Lolita Tell me which I got wrong!
Don't just stop reading at the Inferno! Purgatorio and Paradiso are AMAZING and I highly recommend reading them both! The symbolism and Dante's poetry in Paradiso are the most amazing things I've ever read.
The classics when I had to read in high school were To Kill a Mockingbird, The Fountainhead, The Great Gatsby, and Brave New World. What really got me into reading was The Great Gatsby. The movie with Leo is really good too.
Emma is my fav classic, then crime and punishment, which honestly was pure entertainment. I know this sounds weird but Crime and Punishment is hilarious. The melodrama.
Haven't completed Crime and Punishment but yes. The melodrama is rather comedic. I wonder if that's the effect Dostoevsky was going for but I keep cracking up at the unnecessary intensity
I have The Divine Comedy by Dante and boy is it hard to read. English is my second language, but I have no problem reading classic books, but that book has been a challenge for me.
can you do a video on dark literature recommendations please ? that would be great because for me i'm more open to dark/gritty literature than classic literature
I seem to be one of the few who didn't care overmuch for The Outsiders. Ok, but over-hyped. Did love Othello, though (and of course To Kill A Mockingbird). Cool intro to your vid, btw.
I've never heard of The Outsiders XD but it sounds good! I LOVE Peter Pan and your edition is gorgeous! I really want to read Inferno, especially as last year I did module on Medieval Death and Hell! I need to read Great Expectations, I love the BBC tv version! Othello is so good! p.s. I'm loving your new intro!
I really liked "Crime and Punishment" and "Madame Bovary" and "Anna Karenina". Did not like "To Kill a Mockingbird" (Yeah, I know, take me to the gallows!). I did like Turgenev's "Fathers and Sons", just not quite as much as other Russian novels. I think that "Master and Margarita" is overrated, but that is because I don't like magical realism much.Thomas Hardy is one of my favorites, but he is bleak and depressing.
I just love your recommendations they are always so different of what we are used to see! I love classics and I just got some new ideas from this video so thank you so much! 😊 Also I Love Peter Pan so much! It is great!
May I suggest some others?: anything by Honore de Balzac, Oscar Wilde's picture of Dorian Grey, Dante, Milton, Moliere. There's more bur I'd be here all day!
I found it so hard to read lolita!! Not the topic or anything, it's the writing. I mightn't have been in the mindset for it but im putting it on the back burner
You are sooo cute but please please don't talk like that about Danteee it breaks my heart 😂 Inferno is NOT(!!) a play, it is the first book ('cantica') of the Divina Commedia, it's a poem divided into three 'Cantiche' --> Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso. It is EXTREMELY complex, but one of the greatest pieces of literature that ever existed on this Earthhhh and not dark at all actually. K I'm done I'm just passionate. 💘
I loved the version of Peter Pan in the movies. However, the Peter Pan in the book was annoying and had a lot of flaws. It felt like he embodied all of the negative perceptions of children (the author had) but amplified. Anyway, I love the cover you have of Peter Pan and that you loved it! 😊

2. A Bird In The House
3. The Rosen Suicides (?)

5. Inferno
6. Great Expectations
7. The Merchant Of Venice and Othello
8. Ariel

10. The Catcher In The Rye
11. Lolita

4 of those listed aren’t classics.
@@alb0zfinest "classic" is an umbrella term, it is not concrete. grow a pair.

I haven't read anything by him yet

ThatKidReacts hmm...that would be a violation of your rights, eh?.....
Wtf. I understand if you're young and they have the right to be concerned but not to take it away. Especially classics, odd.
