Looks like Wyatt took the "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" very much to heart. Awesome seeing this after loving the history of it all. Thanks for the look!
Wyatt's last home in Los Angeles, is at 4011 Johnnie Cochran Vista, on the corner with S. Norton St. It was moved there from its original site, just across the street, when the Johnnie Cochran Middle School was built. A plaque at the school commemorates the original location of his house. The house is known as the "green house" because everything including the concrete foundation slab is painted green. Wyatt used to travel from here to Hollywood, where he worked as an advisor on early movie westerns. John Wayne met Wyatt, and copied many of his mannerisms, including that famous way of walking. You can see the green house by using Google Maps, just input the address above, and look at the 360 deg. street view photos.

You can talk about the Clantons and the McLaury boys and Curly Bill and John Ringo, but the most evil man in Cochise County at that time was Frank Stilwell.
Wyatt Earp also lived in Goldfield Nevada where there was mining going on at the time. His story there is little known outside of that part of Nevada. I know he frequented the Goldfield hotel and was known as a gambler around town. While I lived there, I don’t recall anyone knowing where he actually lived in town. At that time it was a huge city and at slightly earlier time, had rivaled San Francisco in population. A lot of famous people came and went in it’s heydays. Fascinating history, Goldfield Nevada.
Wyatt Earp never really was all that financially secure, especially after the "old West" days were pretty much over. He spent a lot of time from about Tombstone-onwards trying to make easy money in various ways and failing. By the time he finally settled in L.A., his movie work was really more of a favor to keep him from being completely destitute in his old age.

I enjoyed my visit to Tombstone a few years ago. Sure, it's a tourist town, but there is much to see and it's really interesting to anyone that likes wild west history.
Thanks! I was there in 1995 and recall this as a house Wyatt had built for Virgil. And yes, Pete Spence lived on the corner. Interesting to note now that Spence actually lived next door! So the house that we are told was built for Virgil was a feed store, if the link you gave is correct, and there is no reason not to think so. Interesting that this myth was based on the recollections of Allie Earp. I have read her story as written by Frank Waters, and she had a lively interpretation of family history. She despised Wyatt and saw Doc as a mere thug and criminal. She felt that if the rest would leave them alone they would have had no troubles at all. She does give a few tidbits, however, that are worth thinking about. One is her view of Wyat as being humorless and overbearing, even using his official status to wear a gun in church, which offended her greatly. She also mentioned someone you never hear about in the histories, a neice that was living with them. Supposedly she started bad blood with the Earps and McLaury's by sneaking out and taking a buggy ride with one of them. I don't recall which one and can't find the book but what if it was Frank? That might explain why Wyat was so angry with him and his comments. At any rate, since I don't know when I will ever get out that way, thanks again for posting this!'
