I LOVE that you said "Imposters don't have imposter syndrome." I had a HUGE breakthrough when I heard it.

This whole lecture called me out continuously in the best way possible and it was a much needed dose of tough love
I'm in a really rough spot, I'm constantly overwhelmed despite the couple of books I published being at over 4 stars
It's like the positive response has frozen me for over a year now since the last one
Tons of trauma from a rough upbringing or rather lack thereof and I desperately need therapy but sadly I have no health insurance, no family, and live alone barely making it by with a work from home job that serves to further isolate me in a middle of nowhere town (but the drive would be too great even if I wanted to go in)
I've realized that I waste so much time doomscrolling because I'm overwhelmed by everything
Overwhelmed by a future of success and material comfort that I have never known
Overwhelmed by a future of failure, of things never getting better, and feeling like my life was just one cruel joke
These videos are invaluable and they do inspire thought so thank you so much for uploading them and sharing them with everyone who couldn't make it to the event

Just add the words "learn how to" after the word "Just" ;)

I think this talk is interesting, but there's no real actionable items. She explains what we might be, but not what we can do about it.

Did you watch the whole recording? Action items:
      Fear of failure:
      1. Identify something else that provides mental assurance/security in the event your books don’t sell.
      2. Seek out like minded friends/writers/support group.
      3. Stay emotionally above the line by working to improve emotional regulation. Don’t allow self-defeating thoughts/emotions derail you.
      4. Get to know the learning curve. The reasons, process, success by learning from failures.
I’ll add one of my own that I’m still working on: Develop a writer identity, no matter what and how long it takes. I identify as a runner and someone who likes to work out. I wasn’t always, but now I never struggle to do it. I do it because it’s who I am. I’m an IT professional because I’ve worked in IT for 20 years, so I identify as that (among other things). Now I need to do the same as a writer and it sure has been a struggle.
