Hahhah, I feel their pain, Victoria. It was really difficult for me too: avid reader since forever, English major, writer, book LOVER, English professor. I get it. I almost threw up the first time I watched someone "gut a book" lol. But, it's okay. We're giving the books a new/second life. It's a NEW way to appreciate them. Several new ways, actually. The majority of the books we're tearing up are destined for landfills. MUCH better that they continue to see the light of day, even if it's in a painted, torn, glued up, otherwise altered way. I love stamping on tissue paper. You got a good deal of things. I wish I had that much luck, but I have to say, I have found some water color paper pads at a local goodwill, so I always stop in to that one when I go by. Thanks for sharing. Catherine
oooohhhh! Watercolor paper that would be a fabulous find!! I have found some really cool Tim Holtz tools and a long while back found Gelli brand texture "combs" for the gel plate, 3 for 99¢...they were $18.00 on Amazon when I checked. Brand new. Never used. The chickadee is so cute too. As the weather gets colder, the chickadees around here get rounder and fluffier. John Gardner.. had to look him up when you mentioned he wrote a dragon book, and it turns out he also wrote “Grendel” which I read eons ago in high school. Now I have some new books to look for at the book sale! 😉 That names book is awesome both for inspiration for naming characters in stories as well as tearing up and using in various projects. Wow… that haunted house stamp is SO impressive with the details!!! LOVE it! And “B” for Bostons and Bitsy and Buddy with that wax seal stamp woohoo! After Monday I’m expect Fall to start and stay!! I don’t want October to end. I love the Halloween season way too much., I’m not a Xmas fan however, I enjoy the holiday with my immediate family. But not craft stuff. And tv commercials are starting and Xmas movies. Omfg! NO!!! Have a good weekend, hope you get to do some fun crafting!!
Hahhaha, I have loads of yard work to do too, but don't want to do it in the blazing sun and heat, lol. It's "FALL" yard work, I should be wearing a flannel, NOT sweating like a pig and fearing heat stroke, lol. Yeah, the Let's Do Christmas NOW is so bloody irritating. Temperature-wise here it's still mid-summer, we're trying to get into the fall spirit and Halloween is fast approaching...Can we just do that first???!!! Maybe instead of Christmas you could so some wonderful Winter projects, the season of hibernating and letting the batteries reboot? I love winter bc it's time when all around us nature is resting: It gives us time to allow our bodies (and minds) to rest- time to warm our spirits and recharge our minds ❄️
Lol unless it something very specific (like the book on writing) we buy the color of the day so it's always 50% off of whatever the sticker says. Yes, Salvation Army, St Vincent, Walmart, Meijer, and when we go downstate for my Dr we stop at that Salvation Army that is huge! I'm so glad you will find uses for things. I try to be more selective but also try to keep my eyes open whenever we are out and about because you never know what you'll find. And yes that name book was a whole penny lol and I think that paint book was actually free at the hardware store one time. Love pop makes pop up greeting cards, I can't remember who I ordered one for but they started sending me a catalog lol

@@TheCrabbyCrafterlol one time we went to Inner space Caverns in TX (a cave tour) my mom and grandma bought a whole box of hand dipped candles, somewhere on the way home they disappeared. Lol that was years and years ago so it does happen to all of us. Frustrating when things just disappear though. Crap now I want some hot wings lol
Fun stuff-- great stamps! I'm not sure what I'd say is my favorite find (of mine). I do love stumbling on file folders, ledger pads, boring paper stuff like that because I use it a lot. 😊
So fun when we stumble onto a cache of something we use a lot at a screaming good deal. I wanted to ask you, what kind of fine art did you do before your paper obsession? I studied art for a number of years planning to get an MFA in art (I later switched over to writing and my MFA is in creative nonfiction), and for a while made my living doing commissioned watercolor and pen and ink work.
@@TheCrabbyCrafterlol I did a lot of portraits in acrylic, watercolor, ebony pencil, a little chalk pastel. Lots of landscapes in acrylic and wc; pets, horses... Tons of stuff. Good for you doing watercolor and pen and ink. A lot of artists shy away from that.
@@TatteredEdgesDesign That's awesome. People portraits? So difficult, yikes. I did pet portraits (anyone surprised???) and home/business "portraits" and sold or donated pieces that were more abstract on the loose side of realism. I used to really want to do hyper photo realism but really don't have the patience for it. I forgot about chalk pastels. I enjoyed those too and scratch board. Always fun to meet a fellow fine artist.
