- A montage of different video clips I took while we were inspecting a few Federal STH-10 sirens to see what kind of shape they're in, featuring a brief "growl" test of each site. Also included a little bit of humorous "commentary" on the first one. ;-)
That's what I'm saying too! These and STL-10s seem to just roll on forever once the motor is shut off. Talk about a combination of smooth bearings and crazy-good rotor balancing.
murrfarms not to mention a heavy rotor.
STH 10 and STL 10 are my two favorite sirens.
5 years later: still winding down
Yup, pretty much lol
2019 and still winding down
Badischer Heuler It’s still winding down to this day
Year 5059 end of the world: *still winding down*
@@bodes_26 2021 still winding down
Some say this siren is still winding down to this date
Lol
Rumor has it the STH-10 is still winding down 1 installation later...
Legend has it that even after being in the siren graveyard for 20 yrs, still winding down.
They're all on Federal Controllers, connected to a RC5-WA motor starter. These three STH-10s were bought new in the mid-late '90s, with the last one in the video being made in 1999.
I bet you if they do multiple activations for warnings, with a less than 10 minute intermission between soundings, they don't fully wind down.
Legend has it that this siren is still slowly spinning, staring into your soul as you spot it from half a mile away.
If a tornado came and they activated these sirens, the tornado would be in the next county before these finished winding down!
it would be nice if ceiling fans would wind down that slow after you shut them off !
Nice growl tests, boy STH*10s sure have a long windown.
15 years later...
I'd say they passed the inspection. Good golly are those long wind downs.
Man I think this siren has the worlds longest wind down I wonder why federal made it that way?
@1:31, I couldn't agree more! LOL!
If you like long wind downs this totally the siren for you
Those must be the most creamiest bearings ever in a siren.
The wind down sounds like an STL-10
two eons later it's STILL winding down
what button were u pushing down on the control box? which i believe was an rc5wa motor starter. so which buttons were being pressed in that motor starter?
We were manually engaging the motor starter itself each time by holding in the contactor bridge. Not exactly the safest way to do it but it works.
Legends say that even after a nuclear bomb goes off the siren is still winding down.
Googol years later: STILL WINDING THE F*CK DOWN!!!!!!
Wow, that first one has some some seriously good bearings on it, talk about a windown.
commentary was hilarious!
What are the quotes around "commentary" supposed to be for (to you)? Is it not *actual* commentary, then?
i'd say they all passed.
I think I saw a red one her in California were I'm visting
lol sounds like it's got Jake brakes
Is the first STH-10 at the site that the thunderbolt now stands at? Is this the one that got replaced?
Yep that is where the 1000 stands now, and the one that got moved to the county public works area.
Rad. Thanks.
+murrfarms wait, let me get this straight: a THUNDERBOLT 1000 replaced a siren in the 21st Century? Woah
yea there is one near me in england AR close to a kroger except it's federal signal THUNDERBOLT 1003A
Are those STH-10s wired up to an FC or an AR?
The wind down on this siren is LONG!
Dat wind down
Ah yes, my siren sound that is good.
At 0:39, it sounds like an airplane
It needs brakes on the chopper
What’s the location of this siren? Is it anywhere near The Rock?
that STH-10 has a long wind down
Why did it just growl
now play it on half speed.
You know it what it reminds of ? I take a Nerf gun and Pull the orange lever back and growling sounds with the Nerf gun it shoots green balls
