That is how I do mine with onion and sometimes, tomatoes and cornbread with corn kernels! Old school, like mama taught me! I have found crowder peas, in Chicago, but you got to look hard or substitute fresh, black eyed peas! If you find them they are well worth the hunt!

I was cooking some crowder peas and okra right now and decided to look at some recipes and now I am desperately wanting some smoked pork neck bones to put in it...will have to try this next time...btw, do you ever cook pork neck bones and rice. My grandma cooked that for us so much when i was growing up and I haven't had any in years and would love a video to refresh my memory on cooking it..

Hello Sneakeey; you and my dad are just alike when it comes to Crowder Peas, but he adds Speckled Butter beans along with Okra He use to do neck bones and ham hocks, due to his health conscious he uses Smoked Turkey tails. I enjoy watching this channel.better than the TV Food Network (Ha ha ha ) Just Kidding. God bless

No you did NOT miss those. I didn't use any in this simple recipe! The Meat stock was all the flavor that I really used!
