  • Half Moons recipe has got to be THE most highly requested video from you guys in a very long time. Its a crispy fried snack, filled with saucy creamy chicken and you guys are crazy about these. Half Moons are also a very popular Ramadan Recipe, as promised, here it is so lets get started!

    This recipe should make around 12-15 depending on the size of your cutter.
    FILLING INGREDIENTS

    3 Chicken Fillets cut into small pieces
    2 tbls Cooking Oil
    Salt to taste
    Few Green Chillies
    Few Cloves of Garlic
    Half a Red Pepper chopped
    1 Onion chopped
    6 tbls Sweetcorn
    1 tsp Cumin Powder
    Green Coriander for garnishing
    WHITE SAUCE

    I made this today and added around 1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes with the onions and chicken. And I crumbled in half a chicken stock cube too for extra flavour. It came out really nice Alhumdulillah x Thank you so much for this recipe :)

    I made these today. It took me 4 hours but was honestly worth the time. They were so delicious amd my family loved them 😀 i will inshallah make them again one day . Thank you 😘

    I'll defo give this recipe a try and compare them with my mums lol will let you know how it goes!
    Oh and what is really nice is my mum puts cheese in the sauce once cooled so the cheesy flavour really comes through especially if your planning on freezing them.
    Oh and I would advise anyone making these to fill them once the filling is completely cooled.

    Dough recipe
    Boil 2.5 cups of water , add 50g of butter, 1/2tsp salt. When butter is dissolved, add 2cups of maida. Continuously stir until the dough mixes well. Remove from the heat and transfer the dough in a bowl to knead.

My husband is from Leicester and my mother-in-law used to make all these delicious snacks for us when we lived there but now living in Cardiff we definitely miss these Ramadan staples!     We do a Simi snack, called rissois made with prawns, but we make a dough kind choux dough.
    This one I would bake them without the breadcrumbs.

    Just made these. Didn’t have red bell pepper so used green. And my cumin finished too 🤦🏽‍♀️ So I used garam masala. Turned out perfectly delicious.

    I tried the this recipe and it was awesome supper easy to made ,I just made a few tweaks of my own to the filling, I add a creamy jalapeño sauce made garlic sauce instead of white sauce

    Assalamualaykum sister. Just come across these videos and they are great! Piece of advice for rolling dough out, place a cloth under the board and it won't move when you're using the pin.

    I use any left over food from the night before as a filling and just add some cheese. Good way of not wasting food.

    hi.... should i make these completely, i mean with the breadcrumbs coating and all, and then freeze them ? and do i need to defrost them before frying ?

      Ms Shah hi yes you can egg and breadcrumb them and freeze them. I normally leave them out for a bit before frying.

      @can do it family you boil the water,salt and margarine,add the four and cook till a ball of dough forms.remove and roll out the dough cut and fill.seal and dip in beaten egg and breadcrumbs

    salam anisa. i like the filling. my dough for making half moons is slightly different. i usually take 1 cup of water, heat it and add 2 tbs of margarine it. then i lower the flame and add 1 cup of flour and keep stirring till i get a soft dough.
