    My watch was purchased 2 years ago from amzwatch and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.

    I've just turned 60 and have retired. I finally have the time to get that university degree i've always wanted. I have some higher end watches, but looking back to the affordable is fun. It's common to only look up in the collecting journey but there are some great watches these days if you aren't hung up on price point.

    I would like to see a video about SOLAR watches. Pros and Cons. Why they haven't taken over the industry. How they are the most environmentally friendly watch. Or possibly not (not my expertise). I have a solar from Seiko. Functionally, I find it to be my best watch. I don't need a winder. I never need to change batteries. I have never had the watch be without power or stop. To me it solves the problems or Quartz, Mechanical and Automatic. But what do I know. I hope Teddy will read this and do a video about SOLAR.

    Thank you Teddy for all that you do! I am new to watch collecting and was immediately overwhelmed. Your videos and blogs have helped tremendously. I just purchased my first watch from your site, the Certina DS PH500. Will was tremendous in recommending some alternative straps as well (not just ones from your site). Incredible service and I will certainly be spreading the word. Thanks again!

    I was offered a Seiko 5 Diver when I get off of high school and then all along my scholarship I bought various watches (another Seiko 5, a military One, a Citizen Promaster NY0040, a vintage Seiko Sportsman, a vintage Certina and a fun Swatch) and during all this Time I was lurking around the Black Bay 36, the old one with a Sellita and oyster bracelet, I will be graduated in December but in April, when I learned that it will be discontinued I got the last one of a Paris Store because it had to be this one, and after nearly 6 month I absolutely love it ! It suits my style very well, thus it’s discreet and only the people interested in watches notice it, i could carry it in all my adventures, I cycle to work and school every day, I do bike travel, I went to the sea with it and it’s very reliable and resistant. Of course its polished bezel catches some scratches but I bought it for it to be with me all the time and I know that every scratch was made by me, and will always remember me of this time of my life, the end of my studies, my first time living in Paris and everything, I hope I could keep it forever and I know that the Sellita movement will be cheap to service and repair if I need to !

    Hi there! On this vein, I'm a graduate student in a laboratory and have a love for watches. I've always been fascinated by the idea of watches being a tool that meets particular industry standards: aviation, diving, travelling etc. The Rolex Milgauss famously holds the title as the scientist's watch due to the faraday cage and the relationship with CERN. I was wondering whether you could do a feature on watches for scientists? Working in cell culture, I've found my Seiko SNZF15K1 helpful as the steel bracelet can be sterilised and the rotating bezel used to mark the time for reagent mixtures. Was wondering whether there are many watches specifically designed for this industry/field.

    Would be nice to have some variety, for example from Tissot and Longines the same models get reccomended over and over again in these "Best Watches For..." videos.. Longines for example still makes the Flagship model (not the vintage recreation one) that has very, very good price for what you get, or maybe the Record line with the nice tight tolerance bracelets and saphire front and back. For Tissot maybe the PR100 with the nice textured dial or the Chemin de Tourelles automatic for something elegant. When I here Tissot I know it is either going to be the PRX or the Gentleman, and from Longines It is either going to be the Hidroconquest or the Spirit (and maybe, the Heritage Classic). I like the channel very much and folow the content regularily, good stuff!

    Love my Duro, it's been a daily for over 2yrs.
    I'm VERY hard on watches, have NO scratches on the crystal. Although I bang mine almost daily on metal monos and shelving, and the mineral crystal is just fine.
    A few scratches and a little ding on the aluminum insert, with minimal scratching on the case(not really noticeable).
    I've spent more on straps then on the watch and Love it... Spends most of its time on a StrapCode 22mm Super-J Louis JUB Watch Band Straight End, 316L Stainless Steel Solid V-Clasp Button Double Lock.
    My ONLY issue with this IS that Bill Gates wears one.
    I've never had a Timex "that took a licking and kept on ticking"...
    Not a SWATCH fan... do like some of the Company's that are part of the Group.
    Wish the Citizen Chandler was a little bigger 39mm or 40mm.
    Prefer the Tissot Gentleman over the PRX... the styling is timless, and has more versitility. It's a contender for a 1 watch collection.
    The Oris Big Crown is on my list..

    Is this a joke mate? Most students are struggling to eat now with the price of living and here you are parading watches they should buy off your website naturally, sorry Teddy but you are out of touch with reality !

  • @UnconventionalReasoning
    @UnconventionalReasoning ปีที่แล้ว +22

    It is very useful for most students to have a watch without a screen. Ideally it would have some sort of timer/stopwatch capability, including a dive watch bezel. Phones are not allowed in tests, and being able to pace oneself in a consistent way takes some stress out of the process. Having to find the clock in each room, and figure out if it's accurate, is unnecessary when the student has their watch on their wrist. It is also helpful with time management when studying, again avoiding the distraction of checking a phone or computer for the time.
    Thank you for leaving in Teddy's attempt to say the old Timex slogan!

    • @acojo8205
      @acojo8205 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This just sounds like someone trying to convince their parents to buy them a watch.
      If a clock is in the exam room, then it’s accurate. A watch is a nice-to-have fashion accessory, don’t waste your money thinking it’ll have practical applications.

    • @UnconventionalReasoning

      I personally use analog watches to deal with questions regarding directions, like "John moved 20m south, then turned left and then 40m later, he reached his home. What direction is he facing?"(Things get a lot more complicated than this, this is just an example)

    How does a college student spend $1K on a watch? Even regular job holders will think 10 times before such an investment. And college students are broke.

    Shout out to Teddy for the intro, helping ppl keep it “Reasonable”, my first piece above 1k (a Bvlgari) put me in a real bad position for a year after I had lost hours at work. I love the watch until this date but I’m not buying anything I can’t at least put half the purchase price down on. With all these fun brands sub 1K, you’ll never run out of options. Take your time with it 💪🏾

    When I passed the Bar I gifted myself with an Orient Bambino. I know it is not even close to an entry-level luxury watch but for a new professional like me I just couldn't justify spending anything close to a $1,000 for a wristwatch especially when something like Orient and a lot of other watch brands offer great quality watches for less money. I get the craftmanship and heritage behind more expensive watches but I guess it's just not my priority especially at a time when the economy is only favorable to an incredibly small percentage of the populatuon.

  • @RudyVisuals

    Great list Teddy. I'd also add the quartz version of the Tissot Gentleman as an alternative budget option and on the higher end something like a Nomos Club Campus would be a great choice too. I work at a University though and can say most students who are wearing watches that aren't smart watches tend to be G-shocks and Casios.
