Hello. I'm Japanese. The fastest Shinkansen in Japan is not the Tokaido Shinkansen that goes to Osaka. It's the Hayabusa Shinkansen that goes to Tohoku. The Tokaido Shinkansen opened in 1964, but it's not a line that can handle trains at speeds over 300 km/h. There are too many curves. The Tohoku Shinkansen, on which the Hayabusa runs, was built from the start with speeds of over 300 km/h in mind.
Some detailed info about the train you traveled and about the availability of escalators and elevators. Shinkansen division: Tokaido shinkansen operated by JR tokai Year inagurated: 1964 Present max operational speed: 285 kmph Services available Nozomi: stops in four stations between Tokyo and Shin Osaka. Time traveled: the fastest is 2:21 hrs, slowest is 2:29 hrs. Hikari: 7 to 8 stations, depending on the time of the day. Time traveled: 2:50 to 3:00 hrs Kodama: stops at all 14 stations Time traveled: 4 hours. Total distance covered: 519 kms In Shin Osaka, the train stops more than 3 mins, unlike other stations, since the train will be handed to another company called JR West. There will be a change of staff. So, there is no need to panic. As I had already mentioned in the previous video comment, there are plenty of escalators and elevators available. You would have noticed an elevator as you were getting down the stairs. I recommend you look at information boards. Japan stresses user friendliness. All you need is look for information boards.

Finding your train on time was important that finding escalators 😀 And also, mostly all the elevators we found were already lined up by elderly as they have priority so we just took the stairs anyways
