Great reaction. Great memories as I was there in Helsinki as a 16 YO. I have a soft spot for how this was written originally by Tuomas and performed by the Finnish 5 before a home crowd.
She influence the best song, and the general direction for the band, for years to come, even after she move on from the band her look and way her essence still influence the band.
Tarja is pretty cool. Not just as a vocalist, but as an all around musician. Nightwish fired her in October of 2005 and she released her first solo album in November 2006. According to the R.I.A.A., in Tarja's 16 year solo career, she has sold over 7 million albums and has played Wacken numerous times. Not bad at all. 🤘❤🤘
Camilla gave a big smile, they are so young! Even your cat sneaked in to see what was going on, it seemed you hadn't noticed... Tarja is epic, indeed, written for her voice. Interesting to hear the pre-Floor version. The chorus backing is clearer here.
One of the best songs ever written. And that combination of the sound of this band, sinfonic metal combined with her powerful, full, warm voice, is absolutely fantastic. Floor did really good job in her version, but to me her voice sounds weaker and more 'normal'. What made this band stand out from the rest was their music and her lyrical soprano voice. Also loved the way she carries herself, her style and connection with the audience. She has had an amazing solo career with both sinfonic metal and classical music. She even wrote an Ave Maria, it is very beautiful. Please check her Muse cover of Supremacy from Woodstock 2016 and Victim of ritual she wrote with two other people.
This is from the same concert as the Wishmaster video you checked out. Helsinki 2005, End of an Era DVD and Tarja's last Nightwish show. Tarja and Floor are both awesome, just different. They both play to their strengths and make this song great. If you think they look young here , go check out 'Walking in the Air' from the "From Wishes to Eternity' show in 2000. I’m so glad someone else noticed the video and audio are slightly out-of-sync, I always thought I was lowkey going crazy. It’s really noticeable in the video of Planet Hell from the same concert and no one ever comments on it lol For some wild Tarja stage presence l, check out her performance of Stargazers from Buenos Aires 2011. It’s from her time as a solo performer but it’s originally a Nightwish song. She pops off in that performance, it’s so good.
Everybody had their era and they brought something wonderful, everybody has their favourite songs and singers. In the end, Tuomas wins. Edit: This was one Floors favourites too when it came out and she rehearsed to this song. She and Tarja are friends.
The only Ghost Love Score I will ever accept. Not wanting to shit on Floor here, but this is literally one of my top 10 songs of all time, my favourite Nightwish song, sung by my favourite female voice in all of music. Even the best cover version/alternative version from anyone else could never reproduce the feeling I get when listening to the original.
If I were to use Nightwish's three vocalists as a reference for a fantasy story, Tarja would be a vampire, Annette a witch, and Floor a valkyrie. But that's just me, and all I want to say is that all of them are great in their own way, and all of them have different styles. And btw, Tarja and Floor are friends, there's even a video of them talking to each other in a video call here in youtube, you should check that out. And my personal favorite vocalist is Floor 😁🤘

Very good analysis and observation. Floors' stage appearance is definitely more Domineering, when considering Her wardrobe. She's like "The Warrior" and strong, where Tarja is "The Princess" and reserved. Both are extremely talented, but I personally side with the Original Band lineup!! 🤘👊😎
What I like in this version compared to e.g. Wacken 2013 is that both interpretations are at some points very different. There are parts in Tarja's version that I like very much, but would not fit in Floor's version and the other way around.
Jukka the drummer has quit in 2015 due to health reasons, he sufferd for years with insomnia, but he is still with Nightwish as CEO His friend Kai Hahto (also his Drumtech) from Wintersun took over for him
I also say you can love both singers. Floor has a difficult job of stepping in for Tarja. Tarja is one of a kind but Floor does a great job on the back catalog.
I think to say that Floor has more presence is a way to give her some credit for not being so great, really... I mean, she definitely is a great singer and frontwoman, but not as Tarja (it doesn't matter with being the original or not) (something like DT with Mangini and Portnoy... Tarja is NW.
Tarja did it on album and naturally the original one. Later Tuomas wanted to change the end and finale from the fading version to scream version...and it is awesome with Floor. Tarja did not do that version ever as you know.
Is there never anyone who can like Tarja or Annette without someone else going, yeah, but Floor. Whatever, they’re all great. Nice reaction, you two. Thanks for some variety. 😊
With Tarja the Band made history, we wouldn't be talking about Floor if she wasn't in Nightwish, her two previous projects were good but never the same as Nightwish, it became a more commercial brand, now it's a Band of many.
It's hard to even explain in convincing enough words what they did with Tarja and how fast. Basically totally new metal style, from niche garage band to world tour in two years. They were all kids, total amateurs, didn't knew what they were doing (Tuomas' words, not mine). They had about 30 songs, so to even put together good setlist was a challenge. I always laugh when even think about how before their first world tour they headline european tour with Sinergy and Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Sinergy had Kimberly Goss keyboard (ex-Dimmu Borgir), guitarists Alexi Laiho and Roope Latvala from Children of Bodom, bass player Marco Hietala and Tonmi Lillman drumms. Alexi was a child prodigy and certainly one of the greatest guitar heroes ever, RIP wildchild. Sinergy and Nightwish back-to-back, must have been quite a gig. As a longtime fan, I'm sick of all the negative comparisons and toxic comments.
She had a great stage presente in Nightiwsh already, this song was just not intended for her to go like crazy in stage presence, watch Wishmaster as an example from the same concert and you will see.
as much i watched those vocal coaches, all of them said you cn't jump around while singing opera. Maybe wave with hands and that pretty much it, body must stay stright so no headbanging in this genre
Floors version is a little better this was way slower her voice should have been louder if you watch floors version it's way heaver I agree floor stage she owns it good one keep rocking

While Floor took it to her level, from time to time, I like this version more because of poetry and mystique that goes in giving less. If you know what I mean.
Don’t get me wrongTarja her original version is really great but I think like you said Floor has way more stage presence. But in my opinion Floor brings way more layers in the song where Tarja stays in the operatic voice. Maybe it was intended like that at that moment or that was where Tarja was really strong. With Floor Tuomas can add so many more layers to songs. From operatic, to growls, to belting, to metal, to jazz, to basically anything. Also Floor her own creativity on how to bring a song adds a lot and I think Tuomas and the rest of the band also give Floor all the space to use this creativity. I still really hope that Marko comes back. Floor and Marko together was just beyond epic. 😊
This was the last concert Tarja sang with the band. She was fired afterwards. Tarja "made" the band what they became because of her vocal style, but Floor was more pop oriented, so more profit. She's an awesome vocalist and I have no disrespect towards her. Annette was pretty good between the two, but she got pregnant and was fired for unrelated reasons.
The drummer Jukka had to quite drumming because of health problems he still works behind scenes with nightwish I am sorry don't care much for Tanja she suppose to be a opera singer and that's all she can do no variety God bless

seriously... The song was written with Tarja in the band. It was written for her to sing... cause she was in the band! I can't even believe someone suggested maybe Tuomas wrote it with Floor's voice in mind.. SMH!
@@JustinPanariello It's crazy people really suggest that lol and yes, I agree 100% with you, this was the sound Tuomas originally wanted for the song and to me Is perfect, the combination of her dark voice and the chorus in the back makes It sound darker, not like Floor versión which sounds More epic with all the things she adds. l agree Tarja doesn't do variations in her voice like Floor does but she really didn't need it in this song specifically. I still love both versions tho, what l don't like Is the hate people gives to Tarja's versión, normally when people react to her versión you can find way too many comments downgrading Tarja's versión. Forgot to mention, great reaction guys, thanks for reacting to Tarja, hope you continue reacting to both her and Floor, if you want you can react to Wishmaster next from the End of an Era concert, you will see how Tarja did have a good stage presence back then (very unique) you won't regret.
I agree that it isn't necessary to put Tarja's version down especially when they have already reacted to Floor's version and now know both versions so there's nothing to prove for them. But I think it's weird to claim "Floor fans always hating", like where is this same energy when Tarja fans floods the comment sections of Floor's live performances? For example they bashed Floor so much in the live chat of Hellfest show and the same continued to the comment section. Even Kai responded some of those comments and it makes me feel sorry for them that they have to read that kind of stuff of themselves and their bandmates. And that certainly wasn't the only time something like that has happened bacause of Tarja fans. Tarja fans can be as much haters (if not more) as Floor fans.
@@jokuku3669 Yeah, l agree with you as well, l just mentioned here the super Floor fans (the radical ones) because of seeing most of the comments putting down the Tarja version but you're right, the super Tarja fans can be the same or even worse, l haven't seen the Hellfest live chat but l do have seen a lot of people bashing Floor in other ocassions (and l hate that too) so l can imagine how It was. That's why l stated l like both versions as they bring different things to the table and that's better for us fans as we have more versatility in songs, no need to defend a singer by bashing the other.
@@jokuku3669 There is a spectrum though, Floor fans come with en entitled attitude to reactos like "HOW DARE YOU react to Tarja?!?!", like wtf, she was a founding member. In addition, even the mild haters are like "Its okay to react to some Tarja videos becuase they have Marco in them, but you might as will skip Anette entirely becuase she did not sound good at all". Plenty of reactors have admitted that they are scared to shit to praise Tarja and Anette in fear of hurting Floor fans.
If you wanna see "army" at it's worst, react to Tarja's GLS and bring out the Floor fanatics to praise Floor and compare them even when Floor is not there. "Army" has been toxic ever since Tarja got fired, the fanbase split and now it's constant competition and pitting Nightwish singers against each other. They just can't give a genuine compliment. They have to compare to make everyone know their chosen snowflake is superior to others. Lack of respect and also feeling very entitled to their opinion and feel the need to tell it every time. Nightwish and their legacy is bigger than anyone's little preference.Look at all those backhanded compliments given here.Embarrassing. I wish I was a fan during Tarja's era.When everyone was Nightwish fan and no stupid "this singer is better than that singer." 🙄"Try to survive your stupidity."
During Tarja era only negative thing was that everything was so Tarja-centric. She really loved the attention and it had an effect within the band, which is documented. "Tarja and the boys" was annoying cliche in Finland. Tuomas' role was not understood as it is now. Of course all this was very minor and nothing compare to what it has been after. The band became so huge and unfortunately no one can control anything anymore.
I’m actually do genuinely enjoy all of the singers. And Yet I always seem to want to defend Tarja, although I’m sure she doesn’t need my help, lol. Comparatively speaking,Tarja has very few reactions. But on every single one you have some Floor fans rushing over to tell them how Floor’s better or how Tarja got fired. Here you see them saying redo this one with Floor. I don’t blame Tarja fans for being irritated, and yes, disrespected. I just don’t get why they’re so threatened by this woman. Floor doesn’t need defending. She’s fantastic, and anyone can see it.
This is the first time I've seen Tarja do this song. I never bothered, because I am obsessed with Floor's version, and I thought I'd hate this one. Well, I definitely don't hate it. Tarja did an amzing job. Floor's ending part of it was MUCH MUCH better though. This one suddenly had female background singers that took over the high parts? Nah. Floor was 1000% better at the ending. I'm glad I finally watched this one though. And overall, Floor's version was much better. Sorry to disagree with you.
I prefer to listen to the Tarja era songs sung by Tarja for exactly the reason you stated. They were written for her rich dark opera vocals and in my opinion they sound better with her.
That makes no sensé.No where in the lyrics do I see the need for the same monotone dark operatic vocals thru out the whole song. That is the only way she sang back then. The band didnt have a choice but to accept that and record it that way.
@@ksal5379 Tuomas wanted Tarja specifically for her type of voice, and he insisted she continued singing in that way, whereas she was begging for time off to finish her studies so that she could develop her voice further, which she has done massively in her solo cereer. Also, everything is subjective. Some people would rather live in the same climate, with the same temperature and measure of sunlight/moon light all year long, and others want all four seasons. Nothing is better, its 100 % subjective.

@@ksal5379 For me lyrical singing is not monotone. I actually find it more harmonic and melodic than contemporary singing. Lyrical singers maybe don't add much rasp or distortion, but they are by no means monotone to me. 🤷🏼♀️ For me Tarja is telling a story as she takes different stylistic choices during the song. She doesn't have that much agility in her voice as Floor, but she still tells a story when singing. It's probably just not that obvious as in contemporary singing. But yeah she developed further in her solo career and found a little more agility in her voice. That's cool.

I also stated that this was MY OPINION that I prefer listening to Tarja, you are free to listen to whoever floats your boat. I don't hate Tarja. I actually respect the hell out of what she's meant to Nightwish, and there wouldn't be nightwish today without her, I completely understand that. But I really can't listen to her for very long. In my ears she sounds like Minnie Mouse. No matter how great the song is. If there's not a live version with Floor, I'm not listening to it more than once. But taste is a personal matter. Doesn't matter how much we discuss it, winter change a thing. I know there's acquired taste. But no matter how much I try I can't acquire the taste for Tarja's voice. Thankfully a lot of other people love her voice, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the version of Nighwish that I enjoy.
Floor's stage presence and the way she emotes the song through her movements is the reason why I don't listen to Floor, I have to see it. Floors Voice is only part of the equation.
Well for me Floor's version of this song is ten times more Epic. The changes she made to the end of this song improved it immensely. I love Tarja's voice and there are some songs I prefer her performance a little bit better but this isn't one of them. Sleeping Sun, Everdream, Nemo are much better showcases for her voice. I really great song of hers is Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan, one of the few Nightwish songs in Finnish. Also love her in The Siren.
I disagree. The bombastiic and suggestive orchestral ending in this version is out of this world and makes it more epic and beautiful. Tarjas voice is perfect match for this song in my opinion.
I love Tarja, I think she has a pure beautiful classic voice, and this era had a different vibe, that’s for sure…but…this song specifically lacks something…IMHO I think Floor stole the show at any moment in 2013…But again, Tarja is great! Tarja, Anette and Floor, all are awesome.
Sorry to disagree with you , Floor elevated this song to new heights , That's why Floor is Known as The Valkyrie Goddess of Metal , Also after Tarja was fired and they choose Anette 2 yrs later I think they wanted to go in a new direction not so much operatic and when that didn't work out , they had to call Floor for help n the rest is History .

I'm not a huge fan of this song by Tarja. It is good, but not as good as Floor's version which makes it look as if Tarja not as good as Floor. But when you take Tarja's version of Ever dream, The Phantom, Walking in the air or Stargazers you really get why NW got so great.
I really dont get the written for concept. Specially for Tarja era songs. She only used her operatic voice back then . She was incapable of interprating the song any other way. Unless Toumas himself said that's how he wanted the song sung. Who's to say Toumas didnt have Floor version in his head when he iniatially wrote that song?If Tarja was créative enough she could have ad libbed the last epic finale her own way to bring the vocal climax like the instrumental climax. The songwriter and his bandmates clearly enjoy Floors interprétation judging by his big smiles and head banging to the song in every single performance. Judging by the roar of the crowd the fans enjoy it too since her 1st performance of this song.
Tarja lets the choir do its job as Tuomas had planned and result is much better than single cry for nothing. Anyway, Nightwish built a whole metal opera house with Tarja, today there is no roof, no walls, only grass growing through the floor.

The Tarja era ending was meant to leave the ending to the band. It was their time to go wild, building that huge wall of sound and energy with the choir backing them up but without the main vocals outshining them. I think the old ending was actually more epic, even though I really love Floor's belts.

Tarja did it on album and naturally the original one. Later Tuomas wanted to change the end and finale from the fading version to scream version...and it is awesome with Floor. Tarja did not do that version ever as you know.

With Tarja the Band made history, we wouldn't be talking about Floor if she wasn't in Nightwish, her two previous projects were good but never the same as Nightwish, it became a more commercial brand, now it's a Band of many.
It's hard to even explain in convincing enough words what they did with Tarja and how fast. Basically totally new metal style, from niche garage band to world tour in two years. They were all kids, total amateurs, didn't knew what they were doing (Tuomas' words, not mine). They had about 30 songs, so to even put together good setlist was a challenge. I always laugh when even think about how before their first world tour they headline european tour with Sinergy and Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Sinergy had Kimberly Goss keyboard (ex-Dimmu Borgir), guitarists Alexi Laiho and Roope Latvala from Children of Bodom, bass player Marco Hietala and Tonmi Lillman drumms. Alexi was a child prodigy and certainly one of the greatest guitar heroes ever, RIP wildchild. Sinergy and Nightwish back-to-back, must have been quite a gig.

Don’t get me wrongTarja her original version is really great but I think like you said Floor has way more stage presence. But in my opinion Floor brings way more layers in the song where Tarja stays in the operatic voice. Maybe it was intended like that at that moment or that was where Tarja was really strong. With Floor Tuomas can add so many more layers to songs. From operatic, to growls, to belting, to metal, to jazz, to basically anything. Also Floor her own creativity on how to bring a song adds a lot and I think Tuomas and the rest of the band also give Floor all the space to use this creativity. I still really hope that Marko comes back. Floor and Marko together was just beyond epic. 😊

This was the last concert Tarja sang with the band. She was fired afterwards. Tarja "made" the band what they became because of her vocal style, but Floor was more pop oriented, so more profit. She's an awesome vocalist and I have no disrespect towards her. Annette was pretty good between the two, but she got pregnant and was fired for unrelated reasons.
The drummer Jukka had to quite drumming because of health problems he still works behind scenes with nightwish I am sorry don't care much for Tanja she suppose to be a opera singer and that's all she can do no variety God bless

I still love both versions tho, what l don't like Is the hate people gives to Tarja's versión, normally when people react to her versión you can find way too many comments downgrading Tarja's versión.

I agree that it isn't necessary to put Tarja's version down especially when they have already reacted to Floor's version and now know both versions so there's nothing to prove for them. But I think it's weird to claim "Floor fans always hating", like where is this same energy when Tarja fans floods the comment sections of Floor's live performances? For example they bashed Floor so much in the live chat of Hellfest show and the same continued to the comment section. Even Kai responded some of those comments and it makes me feel sorry for them that they have to read that kind of stuff of themselves and their bandmates. And that certainly wasn't the only time something like that has happened bacause of Tarja fans. Tarja fans can be as much haters (if not more) as Floor fans.

That's why l stated l like both versions as they bring different things to the table and that's better for us fans as we have more versatility in songs, no need to defend a singer by bashing the other.

Plenty of reactors have admitted that they are scared to shit to praise Tarja and Anette in fear of hurting Floor fans.
If you wanna see "army" at it's worst, react to Tarja's GLS and bring out the Floor fanatics to praise Floor and compare them even when Floor is not there. During Tarja era only negative thing was that everything was so Tarja-centric. She really loved the attention and it had an effect within the band, which is documented. "Tarja and the boys" was annoying cliche in Finland. Tuomas' role was not understood as it is now. Of course all this was very minor and nothing compare to what it has been after. The band became so huge and unfortunately no one can control anything anymore.
I’m actually do genuinely enjoy all of the singers. And Yet I always seem to want to defend Tarja, although I’m sure she doesn’t need my help, lol. Comparatively speaking,Tarja has very few reactions. But on every single one you have some Floor fans rushing over to tell them how Floor’s better or how Tarja got fired. Here you see them saying redo this one with Floor. I don’t blame Tarja fans for being irritated, and yes, disrespected. I just don’t get why they’re so threatened by this woman. This is the first time I've seen Tarja do this song. I never bothered, because I am obsessed with Floor's version, and I thought I'd hate this one. Well, I definitely don't hate it. Tarja did an amzing job. Floor's ending part of it was MUCH MUCH better though. This one suddenly had female background singers that took over the high parts? Nah. I prefer to listen to the Tarja era songs sung by Tarja for exactly the reason you stated. They were written for her rich dark opera vocals and in my opinion they sound better with her.
That makes no sensé.No where in the lyrics do I see the need for the same monotone dark operatic vocals thru out the whole song. That is the only way she sang back then. The band didnt have a choice but to accept that and record it that way.
@@ksal5379 Tuomas wanted Tarja specifically for her type of voice, and he insisted she continued singing in that way, whereas she was begging for time off to finish her studies so that she could develop her voice further, which she has done massively in her solo cereer.
Also, everything is subjective. Some people would rather live in the same climate, with the same temperature and measure of sunlight/moon light all year long, and others want all four seasons. Nothing is better, its 100 % subjective.

@@ksal5379 For me lyrical singing is not monotone. I actually find it more harmonic and melodic than contemporary singing. Lyrical singers maybe don't add much rasp or distortion, but they are by no means monotone to me. 🤷🏼♀️
For me Tarja is telling a story as she takes different stylistic choices during the song. She doesn't have that much agility in her voice as Floor, but she still tells a story when singing. It's probably just not that obvious as in contemporary singing.
But yeah she developed further in her solo career and found a little more agility in her voice. That's cool.

I don't hate Tarja. I actually respect the hell out of what she's meant to Nightwish, and there wouldn't be nightwish today without her, I completely understand that. But I really can't listen to her for very long. In my ears she sounds like Minnie Mouse. No matter how great the song is. If there's not a live version with Floor, I'm not listening to it more than once. But taste is a personal matter. Doesn't matter how much we discuss it, winter change a thing. I know there's acquired taste. But no matter how much I try I can't acquire the taste for Tarja's voice. Thankfully a lot of other people love her voice, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the version of Nighwish that I enjoy.
Floor's stage presence and the way she emotes the song through her movements is the reason why I don't listen to Floor, I have to see it.
Floors Voice is only part of the equation.

Well for me Floor's version of this song is ten times more Epic. The changes she made to the end of this song improved it immensely. I love Tarja's voice and there are some songs I prefer her performance a little bit better but this isn't one of them. Sleeping Sun, Everdream, Nemo are much better showcases for her voice. I really great song of hers is Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan, one of the few Nightwish songs in Finnish. Also love her in The Siren.
I disagree. The bombastiic and suggestive orchestral ending in this version is out of this world and makes it more epic and beautiful. Tarjas voice is perfect match for this song in my opinion.
I would highly recommend the Tampere version (2015) of Ghost Love Score with Floor. It's hardly done by the reaction channels but so so good.

I love Tarja, I think she has a pure beautiful classic voice, and this era had a different vibe, that’s for sure…but…this song specifically lacks something…IMHO I think Floor stole the show at any moment in 2013…But again, Tarja is great! Tarja, Anette and Floor, all are awesome.
Respect to Tarja, but Floor adds to it ten fold. It's not just about tradition but evolution.

Sorry to disagree with you , Floor elevated this song to new heights , That's why Floor is Known as The Valkyrie Goddess of Metal , Also after Tarja was fired and they choose Anette 2 yrs later I think they wanted to go in a new direction not so much operatic and when that didn't work out , they had to call Floor for help n the rest is History .
Nightwish made rock history with Tarja. At most, Floor was able to make Nightwish a popular cover band by itself.

I'm not a huge fan of this song by Tarja. It is good, but not as good as Floor's version which makes it look as if Tarja not as good as Floor. But when you take Tarja's version of Ever dream, The Phantom, Walking in the air or Stargazers you really get why NW got so great.
I really dont get the written for concept. Specially for Tarja era songs. She only used her operatic voice back then . She was incapable of interprating the song any other way. Unless Toumas himself said that's how he wanted the song sung. Who's to say Toumas didnt have Floor version in his head when he iniatially wrote that song?If Tarja was créative enough she could have ad libbed the last epic finale her own way to bring the vocal climax like the instrumental climax. The songwriter and his bandmates clearly enjoy Floors interprétation judging by his big smiles and head banging to the song in every single performance. Judging by the roar of the crowd the fans enjoy it too since her 1st performance of this song.

The Tarja era ending was meant to leave the ending to the band. It was their time to go wild, building that huge wall of sound and energy with the choir backing them up but without the main vocals outshining them.
I think the old ending was actually more epic, even though I really love Floor's belts.
