In this installment of Showbiz CEC Cornell 'registers his displeasure' about the bands song selection to, in classic Cornell style, play a Dixie tune.
The Daniel And The Dixie Diggers are an animatronic band created in the 80s. It was popularized by Celebration Station in the 90s and it was built by Sally Corp. Sally Corp. is still in business today and they even still make Daniel And The Dixie Digger shows.

coldmike 000 Nah, there are a couple of these shows still left out on display or operating if you look far enough. Also the company that built these guys, Sally Corp, is still in business and you can order a Daniel And The Dixie Digger’s show to this day if that’s what you want.

MrButter Yes, Sally Corp. still lists the show on their website. They may have a few shows in storage as well or they could whip a brand new one up. It would just cost a LOT of money.

Ah I remember when I went to this one in Michigan few years back. Got my pants ripped and had them pinned back together lol. I also remember being fascinated with these guys, few years later I became a huge animatronic fanatic. Ill never forget these guys

Found Cornell on display outside my antique shop (it’s basically a thrift store and Cornell wasn’t for sale) his clothes were majorly faded but through some reddit users I tracked him back to this band!

Twinky Solo me ignoran This is my personal favorite animatronic band. No other band talks about broads, gambling, and Dixie land haha. Plus a lot of their covers they play sound better than the original recordings. I love the old timey banter, even if it’s not as old on the 3 character version of the show.

What the hell is that thing un the middle
MrButter His name is Scratchmo. He is a pun on Louis Armstrong, as Louis’ nickname was Satchmo, hence the name. Scratch plays a lot of Louis’ songs and he has a similar voice to the Satchmo. Not to mention in some shows he has a handkerchief just like Louis. His design either doesn’t sit well with you, or you love how he looks. Sally tried to stylize Armstrong into a dog, and not everyone likes it I’ve come to learn haha. Scratch most resembles a Brussels Griffon in the dog world, but all the characters are really just stylized dogs. Personally, I really like how Scratch looks and I think Sally Corp. did their best with the design. I also like his character and I think the reference to Louis’ is clever.

What animal is scratchmo?
They are all stylized dogs. He most closely resembles a Brussels Griffon, but this is likely just a coincidence. Scratch is based off of Louie Armstrong.

This is pretty racist
I disagree for a few reasons.
1. The Colonel (the character sporting a Confederate uniform) is often teased a little by the rest of the gang for his love and implied involvement in Dixieland. Also, the Dixieland elements are EXTREMELY light and only appear in a song or two and in the name of the band.
2. The show contains one of the ONLY implied African American characters throughout animatronic history, Scratchmo on trumpet. He is a not very subtle nod to Louie Armstrong who’s nickname is Satchmo (hence the pun). If the creators of this show were truly racist, then why would they include a reference to one of the most influential African American people in music history?
Besides, I highly doubt a robotic set of dogs has ever convinced anyone that they need to join the Confederacy and commit crimes against humanity.
