✅ LOST ANGEL: THE GENIUS OF JUDEE SILL is an intimate documentary portrait of a one-of-a-kind singer-songwriter from 1970s LA - Judee Sill. It charts her life from a troubled adolescence of addiction, armed robbery and prison through her meteoric rise in the music world and early tragic death.
In two years, Judee went from living in a car to a deal with Asylum Records and the cover of Rolling Stone. As told by David Geffen, Linda Ronstadt, JD Souther, Jackson Browne and Graham Nash -- along with Judee herself -- the film explores Judee’s unique musical style and the inspiring recent rediscovery of her singular music fostered by Shawn Colvin, Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes, Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek of Big Thief, and Weyes Blood.

Celebrity Spotlight Radio Blog with new Lost Angel Update - www.celebrityspotlightradio.com/post/lost-angel-a-song-unsung-no-more
I first discovered Judee from the Elizabethtown movie soundtrack (Jesus Was a Crossmaker). Though it was the Hollies' version, that song introduced me to more of her music. "Hypnotized in realm of beauty" are the perfect words to describe how I feel about her music. I have a permanent Judee Sill playlist on my ipod that I listen to almost every time I go for a run or a bike ride. I really hope to watch this film.
So nice new generations are discovering her. I didn't know of her until Robin of Fleet Foxes mentioned her name in his song Sunblind. Can't wait to stream it.
Yes, many young people are playing her music. I have fond memories of her. She was a genius.
Fantastic discussion. I really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Happy Holidays!
Awesome interview and insights thank you 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it! Judee was an amazing singer and songwriter. Thanks for watching.
This was a much better interview than others they have given - they did a good job in getting stuff needed although I have not had seen it yet! I do hope they include all the stuff they deleted as extras with the DVD release as it will be never seen other wise!
Yes, they were both great. I loved the film it was very inspiring. Not sure how much they deleted from the film but I guess they had reasons. Actually, that is a good idea to include extras but that depends if they think that the extra clips are worth telling. Judee Sill was truly a genius. Thank you for listening to the interview.
Are they planning a Blu-ray (or DVD, although that technology is many years out of date)?
@@slacktoryrecords4193 Something physical would be nice as 'old fashioned' as those technologies are.
In the UK 'Jesus Was A Crossmaker' was played a lot on the radio when it was originally released.
@@candelise I know what you mean but 4K or even just 1080p Blu Ray discs are as modern as can be! That’s what I want (blu ray at least; certainly not expecting 4k)

Anyone knows where I can stream or buy this movie?
Not sure, the film is still doing the film festivals route but I will ask the PR person. Thanks for reaching out.

Minnie Riperton absolutely has to be next!
Totally agree!
LAURA NYRO
Laura Nyro was one of the greatest song writers of all time. At one point in December 1969 three of her songs were on the top ten. An incredible achievement for someone who was only 20 years old. She was also a fantastic singer. However at the age of 24, disgusted by the way the music industry was run she simply retired and became a recluse living in the Conneticut woods, making occasional short term comebacks, but then return to her hideout. She passed away in 1997 at the young age of 49.
@@samkohen4589 Totally agree. Thank you for your comment.
@@CelebritySpotlightRadio Perhaps you can pass the idea to these guys

@@CelebritySpotlightRadio thank you so much. I just discovered her from a Rick Rubin interview with Graham Nash. And I decided to check her out. The moment I heard the kiss I was stunned. I’ve been obsessed with her ever since. Last Friday I ordered her first two records on vinyl from Sonic Boom here in Toronto. How did I miss this music? How is it I’ve never heard of her until now? I think the kiss could be the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard.
Where can you see the movie?
I would check online but I believe the film is still doing its film festival run, but it has been streaming in certain areas, you could check online. Thank you for your comment.
