Such a heavenly feeling, great appreciation to the choir❤❤❤

Son Mary, Son of Mary Son of God , Son of Mary……,,,,,,.,,..,,
According to late Mar Thomas Tharayil, this poem was written by Mar Aprem .
“ Bur “ Son was born to Mary, endured the “ Pesaha”, baptism, passion, death and resurrection to save humanity.
When infant Jesus was born, angels sang the song in Heaven.
Mar Aprem imagined that the Angels must have sang like this, and wrote the long song.
Mar Tharayl explained it to Late Father Chettiath.
What we hear is the short version.
At the end of the nuptial mass this song is sung.
Just sharing the information.
Always proud and blessed being a Catholic.. Ave Ave.. glory haleluyya 😊
The consensus is that *the Baru Mariam chant is an ancient East Syriac chant that is specific to the Knanaya Catholic Church and Knanaya Catholic Community, whose forefathers under the leadership of Mar Knai Thommen brought this in their migration from Edessa to Malabar.* In total the chant has 49 couplets (however not all are sung during weddings) and is considered para-liturgical.
*The Baru Mariam chant is about the **_Life of Christ_* with specific mentions to the Marriage of Cana where He performed His first miracle, the Crucifixion where the Church was betrothed to Christ, and numerous other expressions of Christ's journey, death, and resurrection.
*Proper recognition should be given to the origins of this chant, and I am open to non-Knanites singing it as long as they acknowledge its roots in the Knanaya Catholic community. It would have been fitting for His Excellency Mar Joy Alappatt to highlight the significance of this song and its ties to the Knanite Catholic Community and Church, especially since the Eucharistic Congress aims to foster a transformative encounter with Jesus.* Just as credit is attributed to each song in Latin and other Eastern Catholic Church song books, credit should also be attributed where it is rightfully due.
Just my thoughts!
Cheers,
Here we go again..!
Bar maryam is song that is included in the Church of the East aka Nestorian Church's breviary known as the Hudra.
Knanaya have no claim on this song except for the tune employed here
Those who support Knanaya please understand this is not Knanaya song, It's a chaldean song which is sung by chaldeans even today.
Perhaps Knananite people made it popular, but that doesn't make you its owner
Beautiful 😍😍😍
So amazing❤❤ This is the most amazing and beautiful version of Bar Mariyam that I have ever heard❤❤ My salute to the choir 😍 Great feel while hearing with headsets❤❤❤ Please upload Slosath Avoon full audio from Eucharist Congress also🎉

Yes. From Edessa. Apparently written by St Ephrem. Syro Malabar church comprises of the descendants of Christians (the Jewish community who were in the Malabar coast of India and some local converts)baptised by St Thomas, the apostle.
We use the East Syriac Tradition and the East Syriac liturgy of Mar Addai and Mar Mari. From Edessa. That community was also founded by St Thomas and his disciples Mar Addai and Mar Mari. Hence our connection with them.
This is an East Syriac hymn shared by all of us from the East Syriac Tradition.

Syro malabar is stealing another Knanaya tradition.
A simple question. Then why the Jacobite knanaya community don't have this song if its specific to knanayas ?
It is considered to be written by St Ephrem of Edessa who is a father of the whole Catholic Church. And specifically loved and respected by the church of the East ( which used to be part of the Holy Catholic apostolic church till the time of Nestorius).
SyroMalabar church uses the same liturgy and liturgical tradition of Mar Addai and Mar Mari since the time of St Thomas, our father.
Isn’t it time to stop this petty arguing and treasure and nourish all of our Catholic Tradition.
Christ our Lord only started One church. This spirit of division does not come from the Holy Ghost.
We Syriac Christians have this odd way of arguing amongst each other. Why? I have never seen any Latin Catholics getting upset if someone else sings the Gregorian chanting.
Please rejoice when our Syriac hymns are being brought back to the front of the church again. Not because of anything of our merit. Because it is our Lord’s own language. If it is His Will that His language is heard again more, then let us rejoice if we can be His instruments for that.
Let us all humble ourselves and thank the Lord for giving us the grace to know Him and recognise our true Mishiha.
We are the children of the One Holy Catholic apostolic church. All of us.

This is not the property of any self confessed ethnic group.
