      @@or.eventing_ very true! Bambi is lucky to have such an understanding owner as a youngster!

    GOOD for you! Everything is a learning, the good and the bad. You stood up for your horse, that's the most important take away from the 75 pounds it cost. Also you were able to get things back in harmony at 5he end. Go with Bryan and Pam for now. When Bambi is older and more confident then you can ride with more people. Be proud of how you handled it. Not an easy situation.

      Thank you so much!! I really wasn’t prepared to bully her that’s not fair or giving her any trust or confidence in me. I’m proud of her she handled the whole big arena, other horses jumping wild like a pro! Couldn’t have asked for more really, so I’ll take the positives and stick with who we trust 🥰🥰

  • @jesssmith44
    @jesssmith44 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    You could absolutely tell from the beginning he didn’t understand bambi. I felt he was rushing her and treating her like an established horse rather than a youngster! Your current jumping training completely understands her. It’s all an experience though I would just take it as that xx

    • @or.eventing_
      @or.eventing_  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh 100% and I thoroughly explained what she had done, how she was going, how she needs confidence.. didn’t take any notice clearly! I even told him she can some time shut down on me if she’s unsure🤣 honestly if this wasn’t booked miles in advance, I wouldn’t have went. Thankfully we found our way back to Brian an Pam before this. I’m proud of her for taking it in her stride and coping with the big environment all experience for her 👏🏼🤍

    Well done, I couldn't agree more with what you did. Absolutely no point in creating more issues by picking a battle and losing the trust Bambi obviously has in you.

      Thank you, no I agree. Save that for another day in my eyes. She just needed a more confident jump of something a bit bigger before. She isn't scared she lacks confidence which is a shame as I do too ahah! x

    Looks like she needs more ground work. She's still fighting the bit. I wouldn't jump her yet. Might want to two-point seat over the poles to stay off her back until she's better at picking up her feet. Also steadies the hands. Just some thoughts...

    I don't think it was a waste of time or money, Geoff has lots of experience with young horses, Bambi had a new venue and behaved really well so you should be pleased, I really think she would benefit from a martingale and possibly a different bit to stop her sticking her head up and annoyed by the bit, go back to getting both of your confidence back and progress slowly but we'll xxx

    • @or.eventing_
      @or.eventing_  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My trainer is happy with her without the martingale and her current bit ☺️ I didn’t say it was a waste of time, the experience of aintree alone was amazing for her, this isn’t her first time here, there is a Vlog further up my channel we’re we had a lesson her. unfortunately Geoff didn’t instruct or help us much or in anyway in fact and his words at the end to me were “I have one just like her but sorry I didn’t help you” that’s why I was so disappointed and to let someone work alone whilst in a clinic was also disappointing. I just don’t think it was taken into consideration what we had discussed at the beginning and we got brushed off when he couldn’t help. However he was great with the other two certainly one girl who had a fab little pony!! Unfortunately we’ve had a major confidence knock and she is now at my trainers yard, another Vlog to follow with that ☺️ but proud of her for coping with it all not her fault at all xx

    I agree with what you said I was just thinking u know her and she definitely seems like a mare that needs to be kept busy and moving forward. You wh so correct to do wh u did. Hey it's all a learning curve x

      @or.eventing_  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just knew after a refusal she wasn't ready and I wasn't prepared to knock both our confidence by bullying her into and unfortunately I think the small amount of trying we did has done that. Onwards and upwards, she really is tricky and I'm starting to worry to stronger she gets the less I will cope with her but only time will tell xx

  • @quirkybird4947
    @quirkybird4947 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You did very well. I was quite shocked to see how the instructor tried to handle what happened at the end. It wasn't right at all and not what you or Bambi needed. Don't let it put you back because it wasn't your fault, I wouldn't be rushing back to him. Maybe you could try a martingale, just a thought...
    Unfortunately alot of people including professionals seem to think every problem can be solved with giving the horse a good whack. This is obviously not the way forward for Bambi and well done you xx

    • @or.eventing_
      @or.eventing_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much! It wasn’t ideal was it. We have previously tried one and she is currently at my trainers as I’ve definitely had a confidence knock. Another Vlog to come on that. And she’s jumping really well with him!
      As a professional showjumper I thought he would be able to really encourage and help a young horse but never mind. It was a one of clinic and taking the positives that she handled everything else amazing 🤍🤍

    Hiya Liv, firstly I’ve been poorly with a chest infection so thought I’d wait till I’d recovered . But Liv, I totally agree with your decision in this clinic. I can’t really say what I wanna say properly without being massively offensive to Geoff🙈 but within the first 5 mins of him “teaching” I could tell what kind of coach he was. Technique and standards have come along way and unfortunately he’s not what I’d call a hands on coach. I was soo proud of you for not caving to the pressure of the mentality of”show her who’s boss” kinda thing, and omfg, when I saw the woman coming behind Bambi I was literally screaming at the tv with… wtf, get away from her!!😅 like u said, it’s a confidence giving what’s needed, not going head to head with a horse who given the chance and the threat being high enough with end up using the reactive part of her brain and just dumping you. But u know what, I guarantee in that moment Bambi knew the pressure u were in and knew you had her back. Unknowingly to u I promise that experience will of strengthened your bond. I’m just gonna watch the inhand vlog now but had to jump on and tell u how proud and heartwarming it is to follow your journey babe❤.

      Hope your feeling better?!🤞🏼 we’ve all got the flu in our house too. Poor Harper has caught it off me an is now coughing till she’s vomiting breaking my heart.
      Thank you so much, it wasn’t an enjoyable lesson but I didn’t take lots from it an not from the teaching just from her an the experience of the big arena etc. so was so proud of her. I’ve had people commenting like it’s not the instructor it’s the monkey riding her an people apparently know my capabilities better than I do 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️ but really proud of how she coped!! She has actually gone to Brian for schooling for a few weeks. I went for a lesson and decided to leave her the. Hoping to edit the Vlog an get it out next week but she’s been going well for him, taking her time to settle into his way of riding but again she’s come so far ❤️

      @@or.eventing_ ignore them Liv, fking idiots babe. It’s clear she’s a horse with massive twerks and not an easy ride one bit! I’d love to see half of them commenting riding her. The whole lesson just wasn’t tailored for Bambi, like going over the jump and having to slow down between the poles, it’s the total opposite of what you’d want from a horse like Bambi, we want her forward before anything else so I’m not suprised it confused the 💩 out of her. He really didn’t cater for all horses and riders at! Aww, hope Harpers feeling better babe, I felt awful for a good 10days, it’s worse when our little ones are poorly too and we can’t help them. I’ve just watched your new vlog before leaving this comment 😱 it was amazing! Trust me Liv, anyone with a decent eye can see your more than capable but Bambi really doesn’t make things easy does she babe🙈 bless her, but u know what, once she’s trained all that spirit will go into the horse she becomes. Love your vlogs, love you and Bambi and can’t wait for the next one. Love to little Harper babe❤

    When I was watching your video and saw you going straight to a fill jump after a small cross pole, I said to myself exactly what you said. Ridiculous, why not put the cross up to a straight first. This is the reason I wouldn't go to lesson with someone that high up in their discipline. Yes he has a hell of a lot of experience and has young horses but they probably have the breeding and natural ability, not a horse that has had issues etc. Well done for standing up for your horse, whipping her wouldn't have helped, you know your horse and you will get there in the end with an intact bond with your horse.

      @@or.eventing_ I'm going for my first lesson on Wednesday with a new instructor on my new OTT horse who is very green, head in the air etc. It will be interesting to see if she suits us. I find it very hard to find instructors that will listen to your concerns, whether it's with your horse or even just your own physical limitations. Go back to the instructor that you enjoy the lessons with. Don't lose your confidence over that lesson, you did what you were asked to do even though you would have preferred the whole lesson to have built up a bit slower, you did great and ended with a calm forward horse. It was all experience for your horse which was your goal.

    this guy doesn't seem like the right instructor for you, hobbling around with his little perch seat, all I'm hearing is him telling you what to do next, then saying "well done" no matter what happened. No real constructive feedback, doesn't seem like a genuine horseman to me, that's some show jumpers for you :s
