Will Smith is kind of like bubble gum rap compared to a lot of the artists out there, but bubble gum is still good from time to time. He does a lot of fun songs and catchy tunes that stick in your head. For this song, he sampled the 70s song "And the Beat Goes On" from The Whispers.

I like it when he says “mira, this is the plan”. Mira is look in Spanish. So he’s saying “look this is the plan” which as a Spanish speaker I thought was cool. The video shows you how diverse Miami really is! And that dancing at the end, man I would love to dance with Will! And in the beginning of the video when he says “Welcome to Miami” and the girls say “Bienvenidos a Miami” the girl driving is Eva Mendes. I believe they made a movie together??? She is a Cuban/American singer very famous since late 70' who was in the band "Miami sound machine". You should check her out, she has done some amazing songs.

Yeah, Will was (is?) a big lover of Latin culture and especially the music. He was actually very determined to learn Spanish years ago and he was doing very well with it back then, though I don't know if he's kept up with it. This was another of his 90's hits. I know he's still doing music though. He recorded something not too long ago with his wife, though I can't remember the name of the song off the top of my head. 😅

He stopped rapping because he couldn’t be mainstream AND shake off the cheesiness to go anywhere real. To get REAL RESPECT as a rapper. He was HUGE but at family parties, you would have the little kids, me back then, dancing with their mum dad grandparents, aunts, uncles EVERYONE! Haha 🤣 He just COULDN’T be seen by the public as anything other than that funny guy! Tbh he was the closest thing we had back then to a Tekashi 6ix9ine! That’s how unserious people took him!
