For those who don't know the context, The protest was called by the students in response to the sudden announcement of offline exams despite online classes for which the director of IIT Kharagpur has agreed to an open house discussion. The open house discussion went on for 3 hours and the conclusion was that the students now have a choice to choose between online exams or offline exams individually. Thanks to the student community and the administration for such a remarkable and bold decision ever

Sincere students will never ask for online exam as they know they have to appear for interviews whether they choose academic or technical lines. Cheating never helps. So those who have attended classes regularly, studied not because they have to give exam but solely to gain knowledge will never have an issue with the mode of exam. It's my personal opinion.
Indian education system is suffering for the government as well as students who are more invested in campus politics than studying.

Every student knows what level of cheating takes place in online exams. There is no meaning in conducting online exams. A sincere hardworking student will always prefer offline exams as he/ she wants to be genuinely evaluated based on merrit. In all colleges be it IIT or else there are two categories of students : 1) students who are sincere and work hard genuinely, 2) students who are not sincere and believe in Proxy attendance be it in exams, online viva. So the second category will always protest and shout for online exams. Request to esteemed faculty of educational institutes that these type of mischief should be dealt in a firm manner or else a time will come when the word education would be diluted. Education sector suffered the most due to Covid. All colleges should resort to offline mode at the earliest. It's very very unfortunate that this type of protest is happening in IIT, which is nation's pride and hope. Strict action should be taken so that it sets an example for the students in future. We cannot let education sector to be diluted. This act is detrimental to the society and not to be pardoned. It's a high time Education minister should deal any mischief in a proper and firm manner. Enough is Enough!

If you don't know the situation don't speak normal students can't even solve 1 question in semester exams even after studying and if we had at least 3-4 weeks for preparation then we would not have protested.

It is essential to raise your voice if you are correct even the wrong person is god.and kgp director sir ,too, understand it very properly.
That is the reason why iit are not in top100.
After cracking jee, students think they have become Einstein and waste their time in sleep, procrastination, studying a night before exam rather than learning new skills, researching, doing campus activities, studying properly, making notes and attending lectures.
The biggest problem is jee advanced examination which rather than being a exam to test students ability, skills, mindset instead check other things like checking students if they are able to solve 1 or 2 year university question which they will forget just after clearing .
jee advanced hype also plays a important and I know someone will say why not be hyped because they are among top 5000 best out of crowd 10 lakh but what so are other exams hard. There are many hard exam like imo , kvpy, Gaokao, ipho, icho, Math 55, William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition. I know some guys will know say ok but iit selection rate is less than mit, Harvard or yale but for that you have to keep in mind that in those selection, there is competition among 25000 or 50000 olympiad topper or anything any other topper to get into 500-1000 but in iit, you are against a crowd of 10 lakh students. Also, I admit jee is a hard exam but you have to keep in mind that test doesn't test a student personality, learning skills, creative and thinking skill and it also does not test proper pressure taking skill because many students think that it is temporary pressure and just study for jee hard all day, thinking that after that life is chill which is not the case. Life is a struggle.
Also, some will say no problem is also in faculty and if you think deeply. I admit there is some problem in faculty alo but thinks for while that these students who are today protesting against online exam when situation is almost perfect will tomorrow become professor, research faculty, ias, ips, teachers, engineers and will show their corruption and laziness there and will eventually become a part of same system which they criticize their whole life and want to change in class10,11 or 12 during their jee preparation.
Sorry for any spelling mistake. BTW I am jee 2024 aspirant as well as imo, sat, ielts, isi, kvpy, ioaa aspirant. Best of luck to everyone for their exams and future and I hope you will understand and will not become like them in future and will bring some change.
Always be proud of our achievement but never make them your pride.
It's nothing like iits are indeed top universities of the world many factors like students from abroad,literacy rate of country and locality,cleanliness,hostels etc are taken in count while ranking.. so iits lag behind....academically everyone knows iits are right at the top amongst the very best even last year IIT Delhi was 4th in entire world in terms of unicorn startups 😅

As an IIT alumnus, I am v v v disappointed at the way students are behaving. It looks like JNU or some other 3rd rate college/univ.
These unruly students must be warned, and if after that they do not behave, they must be sent home and debarred from getting admitted into any central govt. institution (for studies or for employment)!

Seniors don't want offline exams
There was a sudden notice for offline exams after continuing this current sem in online mode for most of the time
Also it is not clear that there will be an offline exam, they say it is prof dependent, and this confusion is going on from a long time so that lead to this
Not just exams, they're calling us before 31st of March and it's quite difficult for many students to come in such a short notice and have compulsory offline exams. Even they are not providing proper accommodation for students water wifi food etc.
If they're not ready then why they're calling us on urgent basis.
IIT KGP is compulsorily calling all students (some of us live more than 2000 km away) just for 7 days of end semester exams.

I am studying in a private university, Decisions is same as IIT. But here no one is going to do all these kind of nonsense things. Bouncers and security guards will kick out each of us from 280 acr. campus. We do have better facilities than IIT but not in terms of faculty. IITs have best faculty in all over India.
I was shocked to see these kind of behaviour from IITans. This is the reason why Microsoft hired 25 students in day 1 from my University, not from any IIT.

And IITs have the most dirtiest campus. ( My elder brother used to study in kharagpur ) He told me after visiting my campus.
Such a shame. You guys got the most prestigious institute. So much opportunities, exposure, excellent faculty and then doing these nonsense things. 😓

The leaders should be suspended immediately. During our time mess strike carried out due to hike of mess bill and poor quality of food under the leadership of one 4th year student ( don't want to tell his name). He was threatened and make failed in one or two subjects. Ultimately the movement was vanished. I don't remember the exact year but maybe 1977- 78. Weak management doesn't have personality.
