  • Draw loose is relaxing and fun. In this video, I do my best to explain how I think in order to sketch loose and also reveal a few ways I go about it. Have fun watching!

    I love your loose drawings and I love expressive art in general. I vastly prefer it to realism. If you can take a photo of something, or if AI can generate it, why even bother. The hand of an artist is not meant to be a mechanical device. The way you capture things on paper holds such charm! it's like you take us with you into your magical whimsical world. I will never get bored of looking at that. There are no mistakes in your drawings. They are perfect just the way they are.

      You find the beauty in the imperfect:) yes I prefer these to realism too. So much more fun and surprising. And there is still so much to learn from all the amazing illustrators out there.
      At the same time, I’m also presently being open to getting those classical fundamental styles perfected. I think learning from various disciplines would open more pathways I’ve never seen before. More possibilities:)
      Hmm I wonder… maybe Ai would be able to generate loose art too. 😂

    I try to teach myself or to challenge myself to make loose sketches. But it's so hard for me. I guess that it is more about psychology than about drawing. Maybe watching your videos will help me 🙏🏻

    Love the the way you draw loose but with confidence and right proportions, you still though capturing the big picture in each painting! So Impressive! 😍
    you encourage me to try more Loose style with considerable effort to perspective/proportion not perfection.
    Your tips were so relaxing for busy parents/artists.

      Thank you:) yes I believe that it is all related. There are drawings that are like classical music. Everything is just right and beautiful. I see loose drawings as jazz! Haha Lots of improv.

    I absolutely love your loose drawings- it is very refreshing and something about it makes me feel happy. Thanks for sharing your tips and supplies too. What type of paper do you typically use?

    • @Drewscape-art
      @Drewscape-art  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm happy it makes you feel happy:) I went to the paper supplier and got a few papers that can take light washes. Mostly, I use Tangerine White 140gsm and Ambassador Wove Vellum 200gsm. I bought those in bulk. But there are lots of sketchbooks from an art store that will work just fine too:)

    How to draw loose? It’s infectious.. hang around those that do

    • @Drewscape-art
      @Drewscape-art  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah! Good point. Yes hanging around those who do it too is infectious. Plus ppl always do it differently so there is much to learn. With kids, I don’t hang out much but I do have lots of books with loose illustrations to learn from, starting with Quentin Blake:)

    • @Drewscape-art
      @Drewscape-art  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You’re welcome! A loose style is pretty fun. But at times I try to do a tighter style too, so I can have the elasticity. Does it need to be one or the other? For me, I think, why not learn both? Though by default, I do prefer the relaxed looser style:)

    I just watched this and needed to try it. What I did was to create loose guidelines with a light marker, then redo the lines with a brush pen, holding it loosely at the end, as you said. Then add a base color with markers and adding the finishing touches with loose color pencils. I really liked the result.
    I tried this with some flowers, so I want to try it again with something more complex

    Ooo, i love the marks with the vario brush! Ive got some old brushes that looks like that, that im gonna try now, thanks!
    Ive been training myself for a year or so from unfun, soul-destroying perfection to mistake-welcoming loose and expressive.

    What paper did you used???

    • @Drewscape-art
      @Drewscape-art  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I use a variety of paper from paper suppliers. I used Munken as well as Ambassador Wove Vellum 200gsm. But I’m not picky. A lot of paper from the art shops that can take light washes will do. can just experiment and see what works for the mediums you like to use:) but I find there isn’t really a right or wrong, just what results you enjoy seeing:)
