      Hey man. I just want to say that you aren't alone. Only last night had a bad overdose on cocaine after a long time of addiction, and I was lucky to make it to today. Basically my heart nearly shut down and I collapsed. A few more bumps and I wouldn't be here today. I write this comment from my bed after being allowed home from the hospital and told to take everything slow.
      Now I've never been religious, but last night just after I collapsed and started to fear for my life, guess what I did? I started praying for the first time in my life. I started speaking to God and asking him to give me one more shot. I promised that if I was granted this that I would live a better life. I promised that if he saved me, I would be a good man and try to pay him back for saving me. I promised that I would be a better partner, brother, son and friend. I asked, just please, get me through this, I beg, and I'll live like you want me to. Give me another shot.
      So, I woke up around 8 hours ago, and I just knew that I was given a second chance by God. I knew it. I could feel it. I sat outside, on the grass, looking at the sun, feeling the grass on my body and the wind on my face.. and I just started crying. I haven't cried in years. I started crying and a wave of peace just descended over my body. I was free. I am free. I am free of cocaine. I felt at that moment, 8 hours ago, as if the cocaine/addiction that was chained and padlocked to my soul, in that moment, the padlock broke! The chains snapped off and I could breathe!!! It is simply NOT attached to me any more! I was and am, no longer suffocated by needing the drug. I honestly can not believe it. This is the first day in I don't know how long that I haven't touched it.
      Before today, I would need to take it to even leave the house, to go to work, to go to social events, to do absolutely anything I panicked because I NEEDED it. Now, I honestly can't explain the excitement of going places without it. The happiness and peace I feel is like nothing I've ever known and I just know, deep down in my soul, that I'm free! I will never touch that substance again. I can't. I was saved under the promise that I wouldn't.
      Even writing this I'm so emotional. I feel like I'm a new person, reborn or something. I feel excited to talk to people, excited to live life again. What used to be clouds and darkness everyday, all of a sudden feels like the brightest, most glorious future every day from now😍.
      Rain feels amazing. The wind is beautiful on my skin again. The sun is glorious. I feel like everything is just so much better.
      Anyway, long story short, you're not alone. The next time you're feeling down or alone, comment here and I'll reply. You will do this my friend, we'll both do it❤

    George, I don't think it's right to tell Russell that because he was so great in the movie industry, he's supposed to stay in the industry and be a light and that his reasons for retreating out of it are fear based. If that logic were a formula to knowing God's will, Paul would've remained where he was and been a light to the jewish pharisees and teachers of the law - of whom he was formerly one of the greatest. Instead, he was called away from the place where he was "great" and sent to be a messenger of the gospel to gentile nations, which expanded "the room" that light was shining in.
    It's honestly a great reminder to me that in this upside down kingdom of God, insight and understanding don't come by how much time you've been a part of the faith, but that "We all have different gifts, each of which came because of the grace God gave us."

    • @JeepnJesusFreak

      @lynb.3040 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      @@JeepnJesusFreak Yeah, specially since he's such a fresh convert and is in need of deepening his own connection with Our Lord first. It didn't look for me like fear either. It looks more like prudence. I think we must be very careful when we tell someone what we think they should do, specially if they didn't ask for advice. I think the best thing for everyone is to become like that little child the gospel invites us to be, and place everything in God's hands, and trust that He'll take care of everything, instead of trying to solve some issue just by ourselves, as if pushing Him aside. And He'll show us the way and start drop ping things on our lap, making it very clear what's the path we wants us to go, when it's unclear. I thank God that Russell had been praying and meditating, so this way he'll always get discernment before taking important steps.
      And it's also good to take some distance from Hollywood, at least for the time being, I believe, because it's a very noisy industry. And God likes to speak to us in silence, specially if we take time alone with Him, that allows us to pay attention to His voice inside of us. I hope he found a spiritual director. Things are progressing so fast inside of him... I think he might be already living in the Divine Will.

    Towards the end of the conversation they start asking Russell about acting…Russell is doing far more good doing what he’s doing now, than any actor (with the exception of the chosen actors) Acting would be taking a step backwards. I think it’s not even just about getting sucked into the darkness or whatever- but it’s not really his path. Russell doesn’t need to “act” someone else’s material when he can live his own scenes and share that daily with millions of people.

I’ve been feeling and seeing a lot of legalism in church lately, and it has really been snuffing out that flame. But to be reminded of my own sanctification in seeing how much you are changed and are STILL changing, what a blessing! It was written throughout history, by different people inspired & anointed by God. Some of those people didn't even know each other. The stories and the lessons speak to the reader, as if their own father were telling them stories from their past that are still relevant to them today. One of my favorite things to look for are moments in the Old Testament where Jesus shows up. It's easy to gloss over those parts when you don't know they are there, or are not looking for Him. He shows up from the beginning...Genesis 3:8
      King James Version
      8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
      They heard the VOICE of the Lord God walking in the garden...How can a voice walk? Well, John 1 tells us...
      John 1
      King James Version
      1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
      3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
      And then if we go back to Genesis 1...
      King James Version
      1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
      2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
      3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
      So here we learn that the Spirit of God was also present at the beginning. Now when God spoke with His Voice and created Light, before he created the sun, stars, or moon. The Light He first created was a different Light. A Light that was the Life & Light of men. A Light that shines in the darkness, that the darkness cannot comprehend.
      No other collection of writings spread out across thousands of years can do that! Enjoy the journey of reading the Truth & the Word of God. No movie could possible convey to you what this book can & will.

      That's amazing. That's truly all that matters once we stop feeding into the trap of self-indulgence. His will is all that matters because we are ultimately in his hands. I always remind myself of John 7:18 which says, "he who speaks for himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is true and no unrighteousness is upon him."

    Loved this interview but I think the reason Russell doesn't or shouldn't bother with acting is simple... hearing him speak his own words, and not the words of a script, is pure gold. The world needs his wisdom unfiltered and straight from his mouth 🙌🏼

    • @geenathomas9265
      @geenathomas9265 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Agreed! I was thinking the same thing. What could he do in Hollywood that he can't do now except regurgitate a script for a camera for the masses? I feel like it ended off a little awkwardly bc of that conversation. It reminded me of a part of the interview with Mike, although I can't remember what it was George was trying to get Mike to do. They all have the same Holy Spirit in them so I'm sure if Russell/Mike felt directed in that way, they would do it. And sometimes it's just about timing and God preparing them for something specific.

    • @GrlRock
      @GrlRock 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I agree with you, but...whenever there is a bit of awkwardness or uncomfortableness in a situation, it means you need to look closer. I think "Hollywood" is a way that darkness captures the imagination, just like disney said they were doing. If you notice how many people do not read anymore and make movies in their head while reading, you can see that movies make the imagination lazy until people just don't have enough imagination muscle to think for themselves. However, if God inspires and anoints a script writer in order to reach those people who cannot think anymore, then it could be used to peak their curiosity enough to start thinking and searching for truth outside of manipulated and controlled narrative that has lulled them to sleep. Russel's idea of a different or independent media is really the only way to go with this kind of media, because from the inception of Hollywood, its purpose was rotten to the core. It was built to do what it does and cannot be changed from its foundation. But if God wanted to use that media to undo, unlock, or break the spell that has been placed upon those who have been trained to think within that box, He can. He will always meet people where they are, and then draw them near to Him. I think Russel, doesn't necessarily rule out the idea, but in this season of life, it's not for him. It doesn't ever need to be for him ever again. People need to stop being entertained, and stop making idols out of humans. It's like we're asking actors to be our golden calf.

    I think I agree with Russell on this one. Just because you have a gift, doesn't mean God wants you to use it for him. If someone is really good at pole dancing, it doesn't mean that all of a sudden you will be a Christian pole dancer. It would be best to pick up your cross and follow him, and that might be somewhere your skills may not be usable.

    • @roseroyaltyy
      @roseroyaltyy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Yes. Especially if you have been in such a dark place, I don’t believe God will always put you straight back into the same world you were in before. Russel has seen stuff at a level many haven’t.

      True! @@roseroyaltyy

    • @BeeBlot
      @BeeBlot 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Conversely, He can take your skills and use them for His purposes. Pole dancing requires coordination, strength, body awareness, and graceful movement. In fact, it originates in the circus and is not intended to be sexual. So the Lord can take all those skills and transfer them into the destiny that He wrote for you to begin with.
      Secondly, when someone has been steeped in the knowledge of the kingdom of darkness, their ability to discern that realm is potentially very high and they may be called to testify into those dark corners and do the work of God to pull others up out of it. It's not really up to any of us to decide, that's between God and that person (and whomever else God chooses to include).

    Notice how in the first half of the podcast, Russel started off speaking rather more slowly, prolonging his stories. And once halfway in, the atmosphere had lightened up due to Shawna’s genuine expressions at Russel. This seemingly made Russel turn back to his comedic self, acknowledging her along the way. Now halfway through the podcast, Russel ends up speaking at his normal bombastic voice. Also, during George’s interpretations to Russel, it can be seen that Russel feels like he is being entirely understood. George was almost acting like he his therapist. George has an exceptional way of picking apart a person in order to bring a bigger picture to light. He is definitely better at forming straightforward conclusions whereas Russel tends to sidetrack with his expansive vocabulary whilst thinking out loud in the process. Russel is an intuitive much like George is, which is why they agree with so many things in this podcast. Russel listens to George in complete awe that comes with George’s knowledge about God and he will definitely continue learn so much more. This is also how George was able to make Andrew Tate think about himself that he never did before. The power and wisdom of God absolutely shines and was shared in that room. Way to go George, this is how you spread the good message! Also glad Shawna is confident to share her summaries and questions in the podcast too.

Please examine the language you use, for in our words lie the power of life and death. To pair the word Holy with anything that is unholy isn't of God. I say this out of love. If it is not in fact holy, do not call it so. I say this out of love. Please be more careful with the wording you chose. I am not calling upon Satan himself and bathing in the name demon, it's a silly joke about a toaster. I say this out of love, but Jesus probably liked a few funny ha has every now and again too.

    When Russell was detailing his experience with his infant son, I got such deep revelation from the Holy Spirit regarding suffering. I always looked at it just as an opportunity to endure. I never approached it as an opportunity to for God to stretch me. Suffering allows me to widen my capacity to love, to be patient, generous, hopeful and faithful. Would they have increased without suffering? Knowing myself, probably not. While I still don't enjoy suffering, I will meditate on how I can still find joy in these opportunities to increase my capacity for all these godly traits. Thank you Russell!

    So many deep things intertwining in this conversation, I can relate in so many areas of my own experience, so crazy. Loved the bit about the teacher is quiet when you are taking the test and also the daily bread being necessary and sufficient for each new day, coupled with His daily bread being new every day scripture says His mercies are new every morning, so there is this necessity for us, if we have sinned, receive His mercy again every morning and know every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven the children of men. Also Russell is deeeeeeeeeep, when he said the bit about our realities being torn like the veil in the temple and when the nurse gave him the diagnoses and him asking if we are ever going back to that normal like we had before. I have had several of these world shattering, reality changing things happen to me in my life, especially in the last 11 years as a Christian, never ever would have chosen them, but I am beginning to see a pattern of God taking these reality shattering anxiety causing situations and using them for good in my life. Things that ripped my heart out, changed the course of my life, reduced my ego to zero, all of them, as I wrestle with God, have had a healing recovery process in which character and heart are changed. Oh the necessity of God leveling us and reducing us to nothing, He must chastise us in these ways to annihilate our egos and “reset our factory setting” in a way, bringing us back to fragility and humility, getting us to recognize our deep deep need for His Holy Spirit to raise us up from the “proverbial” dead in the same way Christ was raised. Seems I’ve had many deaths already in this life, but each new resurrection in a sense has served to build character more and more resilient. These deaths in us are a necessity, but not a thing we would ever choose if we saw them ahead of time. Seeking is the answer, in times of prosperity and in times of crisis, we must continue like Peter to say “Lord to whom shall we go, You alone have the words of eternal life”. Through many trials and sufferings we will beginning to see in us, God preparing our hearts for His kingdom. Love you guys keep pressing on. ❤

    GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD - thank you. You just made me understand this further. I kept thinking it was about food, which I was thankful for but you saying: “every day has its own problems and I should stay focused on them” - that’s what I was looking for in this line of the Our Father🙏

    Of all people, Russell Brand just held up a mirror to my face. God has been telling me plain and simple what my problems are, daily, and I've just been missing the mark. Thank you, God, for Russell. The Kingdom rejoiced when he came around, for sure. Such a baby in the faith, yet so much stronger than I ever thought myself to be. I am so humbled; truly and sincerely humbled. Just wow. Praise God! Thank you, George and Shawna! I needed this ❤

    Wow. I'm just really amazed here at the end. Russell really just has a way with words and I definitely saw the Holy Spirit shining through him at times. This was just so good!
    At 25:00 he's talking about how we can surrender but don't want to be crushed. It's just so true. We want to surrender to someone who will lift us up, not break us down. But we need to be broken in order for God to heal and restore! It's by his grace and his powers alone!

    I genuinely enjoyed this episode so much (as I have every other episode I've seen), but Russell always brings such a rare scope of vulnerability, truth, & openess, wrapped with beautiful poetry, as Belle said. But he's poetic naturally, not in a show-off, sort of know it all way. You 3 together are lovely ❤ what a cool episode.

    Great conversation!! Praise God. On the last point though George, I think Russell is making really good points you need to consider. I especially liked how he equated Hollywood with the Pharisees and not the sinners and weak of spirit. That's powerful. Do not be deceived, as the word says, bad company ruins good character.

    Personally, I think Russel is spouting wisdom when it comes to his personal relationship with Hollywood and the idealism vs reality of what can happen.
    It’s also so easy to say that Jesus hung out with all these different kinds of people as an overarching statement, when in reality He asked them to leave their lives behind and follow Him. He was kind, loving, and all of the above to those that were lost, broken, afflicted - but that doesn’t mean He was hanging out or participating with them in their lifestyles.

    "when I get there, I'll change it" he is still operating in his efforts, his will, it's a long process most times. He will get more and more of God's strength, through more and more surrender and his mind will be overtaken and God will possibly transform his mind to be able to be in that environment, in God's strength, with God's armor protecting him! God will do it if it's His will, I know exactly how Russell feels, I was there just a couple years ago and now I am eager to enter back in with excitement because I know God will change people there, not me! Praying for you 3! Praise the Lord!!

      Some people criticize what they havent or cant accomplish so they villify it and apply the devil to it. The arrogance to tell somebody whos been through it already is insane. Chris pratt, denzel washington, chris tucker and will smith are perfect examples of entertainers in film who do fun family friendly content. But whites and blacks are held to a different standard.
