    Thank your for sharing your experience and tips in a positive way! I'm so glad you trusted your intuition and didn't sign with an agent that you didn't feel comfortable with.

    Seems to me that the agent was fairly new, and a liiiiittle desperate to get more books to editors.
    Thank you very much for sharing this.

    It sounds like you made the right choice. I can’t believe they offered rep without finishing the book.

    Hi Caitlin, I learned a lot from this video. Thank you so much. You are such a sweetheart. I am just looking at publishing companies now since my manuscript for my memoir is finally completed. My story is a story of redemption and how God had his hand on my life growing up. My purpose is to bring honor and glory to God and help a lot of people to heal from their painful past. I want to follow you on social media and keep up with what your writing. god bless your day!

    selling your soul happens in pieces over life and differently for everyone, and only we know when we did or didnt do it no matter how much we tried to confuse ego with inner conscience, and you listened to your inner conscience, the voice inside you that sounds like your voice but you know its not, that always knows the truth and always tells you what you should do, the one voice most others try to cover and eventually stop hearing, the voice of god. much love and blessings to you. youre amazing.

    I needed this. Especially after receiving a few rejections. God bless

      I'm so glad! Keep your head up! It can seem discouraging when you get rejections, but it only takes one yes :) Several author friends I know only got one offer of representation out of hundreds of queries, but that one offer was what completely changed their life and launched their career!

    You refer to definite red flags without defining them. As many of us are new to trying to break into publishing so what are those definite red flags?

    • @CaitlinLambert
      @CaitlinLambert  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi! Thanks for your comment! I do actually name a few of my personal red flags at 9:38 and 11:55 (the agent not reading the full manuscript before offering representation, and the agent assuming I would accept their offer before I gave a two-week notice to other agents who had my full manuscript). Also, starting at 18:40, I give three main tips for evaluating agents (which can help you avoid some red flags with agents - scams, etc.) I would be happy to do another video with more red flags to be careful of with traditional publishing if that is something you would like to request!

      @@CaitlinLambert wow first of all thank you so much for responding so quickly, that is wonderful. Sorry I wasn't very clear in my question. Yes, you absolutely did mention your personal red flags. And I completely agree, if an agent isn't enthralled enough to finish the book why expect they would be a good partner if there are hard times ahead. SO great read on that. What I meant, I am so new, are there some basics, like I assume if they expect you to put money up front for them that would be a red flag but maybe I am wrong. Again thanks for taking the time to respond.

      @@sandrakicklighter2735 You're so welcome! That's a great question! I will definitely make a video about agent red flags, as you are right, there are some things that signal an untrustworthy or unprofessional agent. I'll make sure to talk about money and paying agents as well!

    To what end do you think the agent was going towards? If they hadn't read the whole thing then what was it that they were trying to do? How was the agent's process a red flag?

    So, where are you now? You spent a lot of time talking about where you are without saying where you are. Or did I miss that bit?
