Empress… It’s so lovely seeing you with your baby while listening to this special song. “Child fits mother so hold your baby tight” (Remember these lyrics) ❤
Beautiful song and video. Madonna is definitely sharpening her chops for Evita. A kind of understated ballad for Madonna, vocally and visually, but still powerful.
Madonna posted a long, intimate and emotional tribute to Christopher, with lots of pics of them together. Here's just the final part of what she wrote: "We soared the highest hights together And floundered in the lowest lows. Somehow we always foud each other again and we held hands and we kept dancing. The last years have not been easy We didn't speak for sometime but When my brother got sick we found our way back to each other. I did my best to keep him alive as long as possible. He was in so much pain towards the end Once again, we held hands, we closed our eyes and we danced. Together. I'm glad he's not suffering anymore. There will never be anyone like him. I know he's dancing somewhere."
Since nobody seems to have answered your question yet: Yes, they did cover up the gap during the Evita era (and that includes the Love Don't Live Here Anymore video). But now it's back. Which I do like.
Some songs are just growers, many of Madonnas songs are. This song and video were major hits on adult contemporary stations around the globe and quickly made the album sell over 10 million basicly based on this one proper worldwide single and then other singles released in limited countries like Love Don't Live Here Anymore with video, I Want You with great video and One More Chance without a video in the UK but most of its sales were driven by You'll See. Excited for the I Want You video now.
When the song and video dropped... it was during a period where she, Whitney, and Mariah had songs all coming out around the same period of time. Late 1995 was a good time if you loved either of those three. The song is powerful, but the video really enhances the message and intensity of the song. This song and video was a nice transition/bridge between the Bedtime Stories era and the Evita era that was coming up in early 1997
Yeah, I love Madonna ballads, always have this one in particular. But she was trying hard to compete vocally in a talent pool that had passed her by at that point (even though truthfully she was making good strides). The Whitney/Mariah/Celine trifecta was going hard in the mid to late 90s. There was a reason that everyone saw Ray of Light for the breath of fresh air that it is.
I think I put both videos on par with each other, cuz if there was no Take A Bow, and this video dropped, we’d being praising this one like it’s predecessor. I think by a small margin, I like You’ll See a bit more, vocally and visually I just love it.❤❤❤❤
Yass 10s rightfully so, was shocked when t never got a 10 initially, this was the first Madonna video I watch from start to end back in the day and it was caught my eye. thee music video was shot in September 1995 and her first born was only conceived around Jan/Feb 1996 just a few months later, so she was not pregnant when the video was filmed.
As much as I love Take a Bow - this one is about strength and resilience which to me embodies Madonna’s overall message (from day 1) where Take a Bow is more written from a victim perspective. Plus I love “Veras” the Spanish version.
You had me nervous, E! Uncharacteristically quiet while you were watching and i was afraid you weren't feeling it! And it was almost a full year before she gave birth, soooo.....😂😂😂
hello he sang this song live only once in a single stop of the 2001 tour in Philadelphia, while he went to the top of the top to promote it only once on TV
I think what sets this apart for me, from all those other break-up/empowerment songs in pop culture, are the lyrics. Madonna is not "poor me, I still believe in love, I'll find someone better," etc. Nor is she "oh f$%k men, I'm angry, I deserve better, men better treat me right!" No. She's "I dont need ANYONE at all." She's not looking for the next man to put her back together because she's NOT BROKEN. She knows she is enough by herself and is still WHOLE. Nor is there any false bravado, just utter self-assurance. . QUEEN!
A very cinematic beautiful video for a beautiful song. (I do also like Take A Bow better, but still love this one.) It has that old Hollywood glamour that I know you love, and I love the reddish tint to her hair here. It takes me back to the Autumn of 1995 instantly!
Yes this was definitely an audition for Evita as she knew Andrew Lloyd Webber who had composed the musical was very against the idea of her being in it from the start. I think the long coat was just so she could cover up and look demure lol
***MADONNA / "YOU'LL SEE" (CHART) TRIVIA TIME!!*** ..let's SEE....December 1995.... 10. Runaway - Janet Jackson 9. Name - Goo Goo Dolls 8. You Remind Me Of Something - R: Kelly 7. I fell in love with this song immediately as soon as I heard those drum beats. Even without watching the video, i knew i was in for _something to remember_ !
Madonna actually didn't have Lourdes until a full year later. Shot in October 1995, getting pregnant in the beginning of 1996 and giving birth (c-section) on October 14, 1996.
***MADONNA / "YOU'LL SEE" VIDEO TIME!!*** ....see!? (2:49) ... *SEE!?* (5:58) - ..let's just get through it..... ...yep, this is a (sorta) "Part 2" of "Take A Bow", with the Bullfighter. ...yep, she filmed this while preparing for "Evita". ...yep, this was One of her most sophisticated, 'Adult' Videos. ...NOPE, she wasn't pregnant. (..but, I heard sommmee stuufff.....) - ...Now, I (personally) wished they could've gone more 'darker' with the Bullfighter's mind going LOCO, realizing he lost Madge for good (3:51); The Actor was an ACTUAL Bullfighter, but he conveyed SO much emotion, they should've given him some Acting vignettes..... - ...MANY of those Shirley Bassey types go through this kind of Drama with THOSE 'Men'...But Madge brought out a quiet strength in the Song...and VIDEO......charts, a' comin'........
I LOVE THE SPANISH VERSION OF THIS SONG.... AND THE SPANISH LYRICS ARE NOT SAYING THE SAME THANG AS THE ENGLISH VERSION...TWO DIFFERENT LYRICS ON BOTH LANGUAGES.
I heard Madonna let her brother stay with her for a full year up to his passing. She also got hime the best care and paid all the medical bills. As she should.
Such an undarrated video. The spanish version, Veras (which was included on the Latin American edition of Something to Remember), is also very beautiful and it also has its own video which intersperses scenes from the original video with footage of Madonna recording the Spanish version of the song. The music video for "You'll See" was _nominated_ for an *MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography* in 1996. The Spanish version of the video _won_ the MTV Latino award for *Best Female Video* .
I prefer this video slightly more than Take A Bow (even though it would not exist without it) because I find it more cinematic (the fall leaves, the train, etc)... she definitely was not with child here (not for another 12 months) 🤪
This song is a 5 compared to Take a Bow. Even those both songs have been forgotten except by die hard fans, take a bow will make a huge return 1 day, You'll See.
Yeah I think so, my channel wasn’t started for a Madonna journey and she’s not the only artist I react to, she just the only one I’m focusing a journey on
@@EmpressReacts it's totally different and its incredible...the advice is to listen, you don't even have to react, but you have to hear it because you love Madonna
I agree that the TAB video is better than this one, but sequels are never as good as the original! And I respect/appreciate fans who prefer TAB the song, but I still think YS deserves 10s on its own. I mean, I prefer "Live to Tell" but they're both 10s in their own way!
This is one of Madonna’s best vocals. So stunning. She wasn’t pregnant here. That wouldn’t happen for about another 12 months. So glad you loved it.
Interesting! This is the second time in the journey I’ve thought she was pregnant when she wasn’t
We got our TENS across the board!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 🙌🏽 ....and we aint crazy, Take a bow is def on a different level!😂
Exactly!!😂💯
Empress… It’s so lovely seeing you with your baby while listening to this special song. “Child fits mother so hold your baby tight” (Remember these lyrics) ❤
Aw thank u! Hmmm sounds like these lyrics are coming up

@ omg! lol the pressure you just gave me something to remember
Beautiful song and video. Madonna is definitely sharpening her chops for Evita. A kind of understated ballad for Madonna, vocally and visually, but still powerful.
This song is amazing, especially the lyrics, so empowering!

Me too!
Best part of the video for me is Madonna walking through the train car wearing that ensemble. Peak old Hollywood glamour there.

I agree with everything you said - except Take A Bow as a total composition just goes harder 😂 s/o to Babyface
This video is essentially one big unofficial audition for the lead role in Evita.
Interesting ‼️

😂😂😂 just assessing the video
The song was actually heard on the radio before the video came out hence why when the visuals were presented to us we had the wow factor!
Beautiful song

Q. No negativity of any kind intended, E, when you complete the Madonna journey does your channel continue?? ✌🏽
Of course it will, we’re here for the long haul and while I’m a huge Madonna fan, I lived her OLNJ journey and look forward to the next artist.

The song and video are mid. Was a little too much of an adult contemporary vibe for the time tbh. Vocals are on point tho.
