I`ve planted 7 fig trees since last year in Louisiana, 4 dwarf everbearing mulberry, and 2 pineapple guava. The latter were cheap so I ordered them to try. I feed the birds all year here so I decided to plant enough fruit for all of us and plan to root several cuttings this winter to plant in a grassy field nearby just for the birds. The baby Cardinals went after the tiny green figs though so I had to cover the trees with mosquito netting. Only the Brown Turkey Fig I planted last year and a cutting from it are making fruits though and both trees are already huge for their ages. The Celeste Fig trees are tissue culture grown so it will probably be next year before they begin fruiting.

@@baneverything5580 you’re so kind to think of the birds! ❤️
You sound incredibly knowledgeable about trees-what a wonderful thing to be. I imagine the humidity in Louisiana would be favorable for these trees?
Our fig tree is over 10 years old-the previous homeowners planted it, so we are very lucky to simply continue its care and gladly receive its fruit each summer.
