Projects, projects, projects. When you have the ability to build things and refurbish things, it’s hard to pass up a good project. I’m just like you in that regard Jonas. At 58 years old I have piles of projects that weigh in on me. When they get to the point of being a burden it’s far better to get rid of them and focus on fewer projects, the ones that you really are keen on seeing to fruition. It’s not failure to pass some of them up. It’s actually a display of wisdom to do so. The projects themselves don’t care one way or the other. Incompletion is something that physically and emotionally affects me. A little OCD I’m told. So rather than drive myself and my wife crazy I’m getting rid of many of my projects too that are more detrimental than therapeutic. By doing this I can focus on the ones that are more important. I just struggle on knowing which ones those are 😂😂 Personally I think your best airplane was the Kit Fox. The Rans 7 is the closest thing to that. Maybe wrap up the ones requiring the least amount of work first and sell them so as to afford yourself an airplane that you’ll both enjoy??? Just a thought. Love you guys!!!

On a serious note, You and many other You Tubers have given me the push I needed to get back into flying. After over 10 years of not flying my instructor signed my off on my biannual about 2 weeks ago! I appreciate you guys and the videos. The Glasair would be a great plane to purchase!! Let me know what kind of deal you can shoot me on it. Have a decent amount of time in a Piper Pacer that is very short coupled. They are a handful on crosswinds. Love all the videos!

Sell everything as is and buy another KitFox. Your video adventures in the KitFox were the best. You can keep the Airbike for fun, but get a true side-by-side STOL plane. "The Capella is a cruiser, not a STOL plan, even in your hands

Sell everything but the ONE plane you would love to fly for the next decade (bc little kids require and deserve a father's time and attention) and finish it.
He’s already got the rabbits in a cage though, and they don’t require food or water to stay fresh. Setting a policy of only one plane means you could arbitrarily lose something special based on a short sighted policy. Maybe one of the the extra planes turns into a father-son/daughter project down the line. If he’s got the space. If stuff starts getting stacked on top of some because of lack of space, then I’d think about selling

Focus on fixing the Glasair first. Sell it for good money. Go buy a nice Cherokee and take your kids on trips. I grew up with Oshkosh as our summer vacation and loved it.

Imagine 'Burning Man' having a private airport filled with fuel hungry private planes and jets. Want a bunch of bullsh@t. Burning Man celebrates 'green' initiatives' and a 'leave no trace' principal yet the playa is filled with trash despite their best efforts. I had no idea that they had fly ins now....
You are like any other engineer/pilot (like myself) who had a great life and a million cool projects, and then met a woman, and then a baby happened. No offense to Sylvia intended. You just have to prioritise a little differently now, that's all. YOU choose your path in life, and should make the one you choose the best journey possible. Get rid of the unfinished projects, they will just pull you into negativity, and suck up all your money. Choose one attainable goal, let that be your time away from your family, and the rest of the time , be the BEST dad you can be. Every kid wants a dad like you. Good luck with the future, you two. 💕

I will not comment on how you live, because I also like to live my own way. I only have one plane, a Kitfox IV. I fly it every time that I can 8 to 14 hours/month and it keeps me very busy because it's my ongoing project and I enjoy flying it and working on it.
There's a bunch of TH-cam videos on making launchers. I think most of them use surgical tubing or bungee you can buy by the foot. Used to operate a pneumatic launcher that would handle much larger RC aircraft that would eventually become UAS.

No problem ! One day at the time and, stick to ONE project until it is completely done, keeping it the simplest. Then, sell what you don't want anymore FOR A PROFIT ! YES !!! It's important at a time of high inflation. 😀

I'll just throw in my 2 cents. I'd fix and keep the Capella and take it back to its original spec. No more "bush" configuration. It's got a nice turn of speed (especially with the hot-rodded Rotax) and there seems to be enough room in back for the kido, at least for a few years. After that you can finish Defiance as a real capable back country flyer. Anyhow, whatever you decide I'll be watching!
No biggie. When I hit the big lottery. We will get some shit done. I will have your back.

Jonas you are just plane crazy. There is a lot worse things. I know because I have 5 aircraft projects here as well. I was the guy with the Rotorway that I put on its still a year ago now. I really thought I was done with that project. Just got put back on the project list. Lol At least you will never be bored.
