I really liked Def Leppard. They were young and they they were very talented. Now look at the Drummer. One arm and he's a beast on the drums.. I'll always love them
Found a burned Cd of that album and after it when in my jeep cd player it never came out. Never was really into hair metal and that brought me in. Was mostly into rap music.
I remember seeing Def Leppard during the hysteria tour. Thousands of people going absolutely crazy singing every song. It was amazing, one of the best nights of my life. When Rick played his drum solo everybody in the place was just freaking out. They had a laser light show going at the same time. It was wild. I wish I could go back to that night do it all over again.
Took me 24 hours to be able to hear again. That was an amazing concert! Days to stop the ringing. Rick drumming while the rest of the band went and took a break with a bunch of naked girls…
Who else remembers buying this album when it first came on and putting it on for the first time and being blown away how great the whole album was before all the singles were released. I never thought they could top their last album. Hysteria is definitely a killer song who would have thought with all the bad things that happened during the making it was so stellar. Fantastic story behind the music professor!
....do ya also remember the singles combined, displayed the Album cover!? ...an EXPENSIVE collection to spend me money on, but I had 'Hysteria' back then! ..ha-HAA!!
i do.. i was a senior in high school working at a burger king. a girl was singing "pour some sugar on me", so i did exactly what she asked... i took a packet of sugar and poured it on her. after the initial surprise, instead of being mad she actually laughed. I remember hearing this album for the first time, it was during quarantine and I was blown away by every song, including Pour Some Sugar On Me which I had known since 5th grade.
Def Leppard is an astonishing success story. From Sheffield, northern England to the heights of the US charts and world domination. I have said it before but never has a UK band sounded as American as they did. It is remarkable that Animal from the album was their first hit in the UK even though Pyromania had already sold millions but they soon made up for lost time with Hysteria launching into the stratosphere. They certainly travelled a long way from supporting The Human League in Sheffield in 1978 to selling millions in the US and other territories in the late eighties. Kudos for the loyalty shown in waiting for Rick Allen to re-learn how to play the drums and for overcoming the tragic death of Steve Clarke in 1991. The whole album is brilliant; Animal and Hysteria are my favourites.

Don’t forget the band were just teenagers when they got signed to a record label. What other rock bands that came out 1978/1979 or in the 80s that were signed as teenagers and with such success and still rockin’ ???
They've always been a great group of guys who grew up in a rough City in their loyal and they're awesome. I grew up in Lowell Massachusetts a very similar City. The lessons we learned
It really boggles my mind how you aren't a much larger channel than you are. you have a massive passion and presentation to everything you say when talking about the songs, the history and the bands involved. Please, never stop. Thanks so much for all you've been doing. You honestly present a ton like how Casey Kasem used to back in the day. That brings me a ton of joy. I can't believe I just barely found your channel this year!
These guys are very resilient. They still are rocking it today. I know that you're talking about Hysteria, but I want to wish their previous album Pyromania a happy 40th anniversary.
Also funny story--my second date with my husband--we discussed what was the first cassette tape we ever bought. His answer was Pyromania--I knew I had to marry him! (Def Lep being my fave band & he didn't even know it then!)
"All killer and no filler!!" Truer words have never been spoken.... For me, This masterpiece was head and shoulders above everything including Thriller. I couldn't stop listening to it! I was/am in complete awe!!
@@RobinDale50 ....yes, to "Love & Affection"! .....all the singles from the LP display a 'puzzle' of the Album cover, and only ONE single was needed, to complete it! ..."L&A" could DONE it!
@@ericgoss5223 Run Riot is a surprisingly infectious song. I liken it to Tear It Down in that respect - almost straight-forward pop-rock with a catchy hook/chorus
Being a huge fan of High and Dry and Pyromania, I got this album as soon as it came out. Yeah, I was disappointed like many fans about the direction but having just got my drivers license at 16, and having my girlfriend at the time love this album, it is massively nostalgic. The song Hysteria, sonically, is from beginning to end a time warp filled with soaring nostalgic filled sounds that still leaves me emotional when it's over. Every note, sound, every everything has huge impact. I'm glad they spent so much time making this album sound perfect.
Love Def Leppard. They recorded 2 masterpiece rock albums during their career with Pyromania and Hysteria. In my opinion, they were the best British hard rock band of the 80's.
This was the first concert I ever went to as a teenager. One of my favorite bands ever. The fact that I share a last name and a birthday with Rick Allen just made it cooler when I was a kid.
I am going to go back and relive this album, I say that because High-n-Dry and Pyromania were always my favorite DL triumphs! Thanks for bringing this album and DL back into view from their perspective. Thanks Adam.
To me Def Leppard is the greatest band of all time. Every lyric, every melody, every song on every album is like peeling back another layer of greatness, emotion, talent, sheer will, and professionalism.
The title track is truly a magical song. It dwells somewhere between a ballad and a mid tempo rocker, territory that is rarely explored or executed tastefully. The layers of production are mystifying and hypnotic, yet if you strip it all away, it’s an incredibly well written sing that flows perfectly. Thanks for your great work as always, Professor.
Hysteria has been such a huge part of my life. It was my first rock concert (6th grade) and paid for it rolled coins. Barely a show, hundreds later, has been better. I have so many memories of driving down back dirt roads, our favorite cassette in the deck, Hysteria the B side, as a teen. Now as an adult and mom, I took my daughter to see them last summer when they toured. This album has meant so much to me. Thank you for sharing this in-depth history to the making of it. I smiled the whole way through and had to pause many times because I just got lost in my memories. Best Album Ever!
It took a minute to think about it and your channel is the only one that I have seen that does this. The content you provide is doing a service to humanity to be completely honest. You give depth and life to the people behind the music that raised more than one generation. Thank you for your time and effort. Can’t believe your channel isn’t bigger than it is I hope Zenni is giving you what you need to keep the hits coming.
I agree so much. Professor of Rock doesn't always focus on the stuff I love, but he definitely covers *everything* that was significant from that era, and I must tip my hat at his perfect knowledge, exclusive access to the people of that era, and his presentation
So much respect for Def Leppard. Hysteria has one of the greatest album covers ever. My favourite song is 'Gods Of War'. Great band, fantastic music & still relevant today. Thanks Professor.
I grew up listening to the 80s. I will die listening to the 80s. Def Leppard will be one of the bands I will listen to-all albums, all songs, without question.
We all have those albums that we’ve been listening to our whole lives, week to week, one way or the other. Pyro and Hysteria were definitely two of these for me. This channel getting better by the day!!
@@ProfessorofRock One of our sons (25) loves 80s music too. I took him to his 1st concerts last year. 1) Fabulous Thunderbirds opened for Foreigner 2) Joan Jett & 🖤s, Poison, Mötley Crüe, & Def Leppard + meet & greet w/ Poison. The absolute BEST part was seeing him enjoy it!😊
1988 was such a roller coaster ride for me and Hysteria was always playing on the radio, plus family & friends playing it as well. So every time I hear it, it takes me back to ‘88. What a hell of a ride it was.
What an iconic album, still love it today! I have huge admiration for Def Leppard, they stuck together through thick and thin. I also love their 1999 Euphoria album, these guys know how to write an impeccable melody.
Run Riot was my favorite song, but Love Bites will always bring memories of the summer of 88 flooding into my mind. If I was giving the opportunity to relive a point in time, that would be on the top of the list.
Hey Adam. This is one of your best videos. I love Def Leppard. I agree, the Hysteria Album was the Sgt. Peppers of it's time. The other thing about the summer of 1988 is this: It did not matter where you went, every household had a copy of the Hysteria Album (on vinyl). And yes........the song Hysteria is an absolute gem......a power ballad for the ages. Your in depth research, interviews and the way your music docs/videos flow is just amazing!!
Oh yeah we couldn't miss it all summer long I just turned 19 I had a fake ID I had a brand new car at the beach all summer Hampton Beach New Hampshire I grew up in Boston area oh man nothing better than that year and of course . Screaming usually drunkenly one lump or two? Whenever the song was on at a club or anywhere all of a sudden everyone would scream it at the right time
I remember, as a seventh grader, listening to this album front to back over and over again while I was in my basement doing homework. Even then I marveled at how rare it was to have an album where I didn't need to skip any of the songs. A masterpiece!
I remember nearly every track on this album was a hit. What did they use for B-sides on the singles? And Hysteria was an instantly mesmerizing song for me. It still is to this day. It’s so full of feeling and intensity. I love it.
Def Leppard's 1987 album "Hysteria" was a commercial success, with several hit singles released from it. The B-sides for the singles were : "Tear It Down" was the B-side for "Animal" "Ride into the Sun" was the B-side for "Pour Some Sugar on Me" "I Wanna Be Your Hero" was the B-side for "Love Bites" "Ring of Fire" was the B-side for "Armageddon It" "Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)" was the B-side for "Hysteria" "Release Me" was the B-side for "Rocket" "Billy's Got a Gun" was the B-side for "Love and Affection"
In 1999 I was given the opportunity to meet the band and spend two days with Phil. We worked out, had coffee, drove all over town looking for a specific pair of shoes he wanted, but mostly we talked for hours. He’s one of the coolest and nicest people I’ve ever met. The whole bad was cool but sharing family pics with Phil and chatting about everything was the best. He made me feel like we were close friends for those two day. Def Leppard has been my favorite band since I was about 10 in the early 80s. I’m so glad to have met them. Grateful they signed my guitar. I only wish I was able to also meet Steve Clark 😢
As an artist in any type of art, finishing the piece and knowing you made something great is one of the greatest feelings an artist can have. Only for that to be beat by finding out the general public love it as much, if not more!
The fact that they would not abandon their drummer, the key to any rock song, has always amazed me. They were already one of my favourite bands, but when I read the news way back then, they cemented a spot in my heart too. Seriously, having a good drummer was paramount to any hard rock band, or is in my opinion. Sure, a great guitarist with really long hair is important, but the heart to any great heavy metal song is the drums. By keeping their drummer, they have my respect, and that’s not something I give out lightly.
The whole album was huge in Australia. I don’t remember where each song ended up in the charts here but I do recall Rocket being one of the biggest hits here. I guess it’s that hard hitting in your face rock that Aussies really love. Must have played that album at least 100 times. What an Album. Just Rocks. 🎸🎸 Great story.
I have so many great memories that have come about as a result of this album. The album came out when I was a teenager in high school. I went back to college in 2004 when I was 32-33 years old and was out at a bar with my classmates one night just hanging out, listening to music etc. There was a dance floor there. The DJ decided to play Pour Some Sugar on Me and all I heard were a bunch of girls start to scream and then all rush to the dance floor. I was shocked and proud all at the same time. These young girls were screaming and going nuts over a song that came out back in MY day. I'll never forget that moment as it is one of my best memories from college. I get the chills just thinking about it...
Adam- I could not agree more! Hysteria is also my FAVORITE Def Leppard song of all time! Thank you for going into this song! It gave me chills to hear all the history and your obvious love for the song too! I thought it was just me!
I'm with you. This song is underappreciated. My favorite on the album as well. The video is perfect for this song as well, the fall leaves, the dancers around the stage. Just perfect
I graduated in 1987 and I cannot exagerate how huge this album was. I was still in 8th grade when Pyromania came out and my friends and I waited all throughout high school for Def Leppard to make another album. I was a freshman when the news was released about Rick's tragic accident. A great band.
86 graduate myself I completely concur. You're literally had to be there how can you forget the 87 and 88 Def Leppard was one hit after another. They ruled MTV 😅 they ruled the radio the charts. And this is with all kinds of great competition I still love them to this day. We are so blessed to have been growing up when we did
Hysteria is a great album. The concert tour Def Leppard did for the album was great too. They played "in the round" which was rarely done. There were massive curtains that totally hid the stage from all sides. The arena lights would go down, the band would start playing and then the curtains fell to the stage. The music and the audience cheering were both thunderous. You knew you were at a great rock concert.
Such a awesome story from such a awesome band! And to put out such a awesome album after so many setbacks! Awesome episode Professor! Thanks for keeping the music alive!
Hysteria is one of the most iconic album of the 80s. If I had to play three albums to summarize what 80s music was about Hysteria would be one of them. It's an amazing work of art and I'll listen to it start to finish whenever I have the time and want to take a trip back to 1987.
The song Hysteria has such a perfect clean, chorused sound to it. It is one of my top favorite songs. When watching the video, I always get a heartstring pull when I see Steve Clark.
The song “Hysteria” is THE HOOK that put this album in my collection. It is a DEEPLY moving, emotion-evoking MASTERPIECE! Still does it for me to this day. One of THE GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME! Joe’s voice - the guitars - the masterful lyrics! This song was MEANT TO BE from THOSE PARTICULAR guys! The boys of the great DEF LEPPARD! ❤️
My very favorite band & my very favorite album EVER. If I'm having a crummy day--this album is my cure. Even had Hysteria as my bridal party dance song. Hysteria's songs are intertwined into so much of my existence.
Hysteria is an absolute banger of a song! It's an amazing album but my favorite track off the record has always been Animal. Saw them last summer in Buffalo on their stadium tour and they still sound amazing! They played everything you want to hear and crushed it!
Whats amazing is this month pyromania just had it's 40th anniversary and it also has the distinction of being one of the leading hard rock acts to become major MTV stars those memorable clips for photograph, rock of ages and foolin have become 80s music video landmarks
Hysteria and Pyromania are the only 2 albums back to back where every single song sounded like hits to me. You might as well call them Def Leppard's Greatest hits. As for songs, Hysteria is definitely way up there of all-time favorite 80's songs for me.
My favorite song from my favorite album ever. You never forget your first love, and this was our song. Everyone knows the feeling and smile you get when you hear your special song on the radio. This is mine.
Professor, me and I’m sure many of your listeners are about the same age. We are so lucky to have grown up in the 80’s and 90’s. Listening to your stories unlocks many of my own memories from those glorious days of our youth. Music transports us back to the specific moments of joy, melancholy, love and heartbreak. I remember listening to Casey Kasem’s weekly top 40 countdown every Sunday. I also remember watching MTV’s weekly top 20 countdown with Adam Curry and hoping my favorite song would be number 1. Much simpler yet wonderful times. Thank you for this channel.
This album brings back a lot of good memories and leaves me in tears when I hear it. I grew up in a small town in Northern BC. Hockey was an important sport in that area and in the entire country. I had always wanted to play on a travel team representing our community from town to town. We travelled a lot by bus back then. I was never good enough to make it. But I finally broke through in 1987. Hysteria accompanied me and my yellow Sports Walkman on all of those trips. I couldn’t believe I had finally made it. When I hear these songs I can still picture sitting on that bus, looking at the majestic landscape outside during those cold winter months. It was a magical time for me. Thanks Adam for keeping these feelings alive in the thousands upon thousands who follow your channel🙏🏼
Being from Australia, it does annoy me BEYOND BELIEF that this song ONLY made it to #90! This is the quintessential magic that makes this genre of music, to those who have been blessed to have experienced it first hand, so damn GOOD. Thank you Prof, this one has always been high on the spin list
Def Leppard are probably the greatest example of perseverance in music history. All they went through just to finish Hysteria and then of course the unfortunate loss of Steve which to me was when the band lost their magic. Steve Clark was the magic of the band. I have a lot of admiration for Vivian Campbell (especially from his Dio days) it’s just never been the same without the other half of the Terror Twins.
Hysteria was my favorite song on the album. I loved the flow of that song. It was a great ballad of the 80s. Every time I have heard this song come on the radio over the years it was like a golden moment when you turn up the radio and get lost in the song.
So glad you are finally giving some love to Def Leppard!!! They are my absolute favorite band and even after all these years, they still can rock a stadium to their feet!!!
Probably one of the few hair bands I actually liked! I was SO impressed that they kept their drummer and everything he was able to overcome. This album was great.
@@riproar11 What are you talking about? Def Leppard are absolutely metal. But yeah, they're definitely not hair metal. They're some weird pop offshoot of NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal), but far inferior. I never liked Def Leppard--I mean, they have a few songs that I genuinely like, but I never understood the overall appeal. Iron Maiden, Saxon, Diamond Head, and Blitzkrieg were far superior.
@@mournblade1066 In an interview, when DL released album "Yeah", Joe Elliot said that he hated that people tried to categorize Def Leppard as a metal band and said that they have always been a rock band. Same thing with AC/DC, they are not metal, but are hard blues rock as their singer described them perfectly. I've seen Maiden in concert and they are more a hard progressive rock band, than metal.
I absolutely love this channel. Decades from now I hope this in the library of Congress. Adam Reader is a national treasure and his videos are works of art.
Def Leppard is one of my all tie favorite bands. All members are so talented and I was always impressed the way they stood by Rick Allen after his accident. This band made me happy every time I played their music, and they still do. I started following them in 1983 and have been a loyal fan ever since. I even introduced my daughter to their music and took her to a live concert. She loved it! They put on a great show. Thank you for dedicating an episode this this song ... and album!
Hysteria always reminds me of my school trip to Washington DC in fall 1988. Pulled out my yellow Sony Walkman, put on my cheap headphones, hit play. Looking out the school bus window with the sun rays and trees passing by. Music always takes you back to specific moments..
Ironically, I had a bad car accident with this song rolling on the tape deck. I DEMANDED that cassette be retrieved from my car! (This was in 2000--I'd had the tape since 1987. Lol) 23 years after my accident--that tape is tucked away in a safe.
The songs on this album, (and the drummer losing a arm) were the talk of my school for a very long time in the 80's. So many of the songs from this album were played over and over on the local radio in the 80's and 90's. Some of these songs were played at my middle and high school dances. So many guys called the local radio station, just to dedicate one of these songs to a new girlfriend. This album is a soundtrack to Generation-X. This whole album is pure dynamite and a timeless classic. I've never been much of a metal head, or into hard rock, but once hearing it as a kid in the 80's, I had to admit this is one hell of a album. Thank you so much for covering this. So many great memories. Thank you.
This and Pyromania are both timeless albums!! All these years later and the songs still stand strong! Got to see them with Journey, in Baltimore, a few years ago. One hell of a show from both bands! Hey Prof! Keep up the awesome work with your channel! Love your passion for music!
This is "one of those songs" that really take me back in time. Driving at night along the beachfront on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, windows down and the sea breeze flowing with the music turned up. Three decades later, when I finally could afford a convertible, Hysteria came on while driving with the top down on a summer evening's drive - it was like being taken to another place and time, though that is a Clint Black lyric, Hysteria truly did that for me. Nostalgia, indeed.
I love it Professor!!! Love YOU professor. Best show ever. The SONG Hysteria is one of my favorite songs EVER. It ages the best (unlike Pour Sugar, Let's get Rocked) too. It's truly from the yacht rock heavens...gorgeous ballad.
Hysteria is my go-to album at any time. I found Def Leppard through the song Photograph and never looked back. Hysteria video is one of my all-time favorites.
The first video for 'Pour some sugar on me' took advantage for the exterior shots of the demolition of an old mansion house on the opposite side of the road from me. This was Mount Merrion House in south Dublin on the Stillorgan road. Unfortunately I was not filmed as part of the crowd outside. At the time Joe Elliott lived in Dublin, for tax reasons, and was a regular captain on the RTE pop-music quiz show called "Number One" (I think) which ran for several years.... Thanks for today's video Professor!
The timing of this album for me, leaving middle school and heading to new adventures in High School, makes this one of my favorite songs and albums of all time.
I love love bites always my fave track, BUT HYSTERIA, I play guitar, badly but that intro pure earworm, when it gets in, that's there forever, the choice of chords the melody, the lyrics, the bombastic drums, then add the vocals the harmonies, not just on the vocals add the guitar harmonies too! that chorus, delay, reverb guitar that became the epitome of electric ballad guitar from that album and was for years! I bet many guitar effects manufacturers were rubbing there hands in glee, whatever unit we make has to have a patch with that in it! CLASS!
I love this record and I'll never forget the first time I heard it. Def Leppard was my doorway from Top 40 into hard rock and heavy metal and I'll be forever grateful for that.
MY FAVORITE Def Leppard song, I've listened to it easily 1000 times. George Michael's Faith and Def Leppard's Hysteria were the two albums of the late 80s I could play for anyone and they liked the couple non-hits. Most of the songs were huge hits on the album, especially George's 5 #1's (if you count I Want Your Sex being #2 but #1 in sales, since tons of radio stations wouldn't play it until late at night LOL, it wasn't that dirty!). Hysteria's music and lyrics, and the multi-layer guitars with the varying vocal segments (because so many hands were inspired in writing it) make it shockinly, the best song to not make the top 5, I am CERTAIN! LOL Great video ADAM!!!

Along with Rick Beato, he has the best music-related channel on YT.
@@jasonfritz838 I like Rick Beato too. He talks about music theory.
These guys are very resilient. They still are rocking it today. I know that you're talking about Hysteria, but I want to wish their previous album Pyromania a happy 40th anniversary.
You're right on the money.
Unbelievable that it’s 40 already. 😳
Lol I feel so old! Lol

Exactly!
Hysteria is a rock institution.
It is definitely more cohesive than Thriller.
This album is the soundtrack of my youth. Such a great decade to be growing up.
I wish I lived in the 80s…
Agreed. Same here, how amazing those days were
That album is a masterpiece- every song is awesome from start to end !
True though in retrospect, I would exchange Tear It Down for Excitable and they should have released Love and Affection as a single!
@@RobinDale50 ....yes, to "Love & Affection"! .....all the singles from the LP display a 'puzzle' of the Album cover, and only ONE single was needed, to complete it! ..."L&A" could DONE it!
YES!
Album tracks like "Women" and "Run Riot" are even better than the hits!
@@ericgoss5223 Run Riot is a surprisingly infectious song. I liken it to Tear It Down in that respect - almost straight-forward pop-rock with a catchy hook/chorus
Never had a doubt about this band, it truly was Magical.
RIP Steve Clark 🎸✌️
Been on the DefLep bandwagon since day one!
It’s such an amazing song.
Agreed, that’d be one bigass album…. Which songs would be cut??? 🤣😂🤣
Thank you Professor of Rock for making this video. This is my all time favorite song. To this day it's the one song I can never get sick of. 🙌🏻🙏🏻❤️
I was 26 when this album released and had the cassette in my car......I loved driving down the road with volume cranked. It truly is a masterpiece.
That’s the right way to rock and roll! 🎸
Me too! Raybans, XJ6, stereo cranked up, posing. Looking back, I could be embarrassed, but I'm not.
Love Def Leppard. They recorded 2 masterpiece rock albums during their career with Pyromania and Hysteria. In my opinion, they were the best British hard rock band of the 80's.
Don't forget High 'n' Dry
@@celticc9580 To me, high 'n' dry was their best album
You NAILED it. Two masterworks
It’s amazing how they were from the same place as Joe Cocker, The Human League, and Paul Carrack.
For some reason, about a year ago I started really loving "Stagefright' It just kicks so much A.
This was the first concert I ever went to as a teenager. One of my favorite bands ever. The fact that I share a last name and a birthday with Rick Allen just made it cooler when I was a kid.
So your birthday is November 1 as well? Amazing!
It really has that strong nostalgia factor.
Hysteria has all of those unique aspects because Steve was the main writer, and changed the riff.
R.I.P Steve, the Miracle Maker.
It is one of the best albums of all time. Easily. From start to finish, everything is a singalong.
The soundtrack of my life? See Def Leppard! They are truly amazing!!
Without doubt my favourite album. This was my gateway into rock. For me Love and Affection is a fantastic endimg song and very underrated.
So much respect for Def Leppard. Hysteria has one of the greatest album covers ever. My favourite song is 'Gods Of War'. Great band, fantastic music & still relevant today. Thanks Professor.
Iconic cover. I never figured out what it is but that also makes it awesome. Andi Airfix’s art added to the iconic power of this record.
Steve wrote "God's of War."
I grew up listening to the 80s. I will die listening to the 80s. Def Leppard will be one of the bands I will listen to-all albums, all songs, without question.
Same here my dear!
We all have those albums that we’ve been listening to our whole lives, week to week, one way or the other. Pyro and Hysteria were definitely two of these for me. This channel getting better by the day!!
Saw them in concert last August. They still rock it out, sound great & the concert was AWESOME!
Rock on!
@@ProfessorofRock One of our sons (25) loves 80s music too. I took him to his 1st concerts last year. 1) Fabulous Thunderbirds opened for Foreigner
2) Joan Jett & 🖤s, Poison, Mötley Crüe, & Def Leppard + meet & greet w/ Poison. The absolute BEST part was seeing him enjoy it!😊
That’s cool! 😊
They’re such a great band.
I love it.
Every song on Hysteria sounds like a hit. Easily.
Def Leppard's 1987 album "Hysteria" was a commercial success, with several hit singles released from it. The B-sides for the singles were :
"Tear It Down" was the B-side for "Animal"
"Ride into the Sun" was the B-side for "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
"I Wanna Be Your Hero" was the B-side for "Love Bites"
"Ring of Fire" was the B-side for "Armageddon It"
"Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)" was the B-side for "Hysteria"
"Release Me" was the B-side for "Rocket"
"Billy's Got a Gun" was the B-side for "Love and Affection"
@@harmonizedigital. Thank you!👍
You could put the singles covers together like a puzzle to make the Hysteria album cover. That was cool.
He’s a really cool guy.

One of the greatest Rock Albums ever made and they are a great live band! Long Live Rock!
Rick Allen is a wonderful drummer.
Rocket, yeah! 🎤
I get chills EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I hear this song!!!! Whether in the car or ESPECIALLY live!
Thank you for revisiting the 80s.
Love this band and love this album. Thanks for this walk down memory lane.
Adam-
I could not agree more! Hysteria is also my FAVORITE Def Leppard song of all time! Thank you for going into this song! It gave me chills to hear all the history and your obvious love for the song too! I thought it was just me!
Def Leppard ❤ Love this band! In the 80’s and forever ❤️❤️❤️
This album was the first concert I went to see. I was 16, went with some older coworkers. It blew me away. Def will always be my favorite.
They put on amazing concerts.
Two 80s titans. Pyromania and Hysteria.
The other ones for me would probably be Thriller and Born in the USA. But I totally agree.

My very favorite band & my very favorite album EVER. If I'm having a crummy day--this album is my cure. Even had Hysteria as my bridal party dance song. Hysteria's songs are intertwined into so much of my existence.
Lucky to see them in the early 80's. Twice! Good times.
Foolin’ is such a haunting listen, that one gives me the chills each time I hear it. And to think these songs have turned 40 already. FORTY!
Absolutely one of the best albums of the 80s, hands down. Stirs a lot of fond memories irregardless of what tune you hear from that record.
Hysteria and Pyromania are the only 2 albums back to back where every single song sounded like hits to me. You might as well call them Def Leppard's Greatest hits. As for songs, Hysteria is definitely way up there of all-time favorite 80's songs for me.
Totally!

Not every band can make an awesome greatest hit album, but Def Leppard is definitely one of them.
Agree!!!

The Terror Twins ruled. So sad when Steve passed.
Steve Clark died too soon. Sorely missed. R.I.P. 😢
Hysteria was my favorite song on the album. I loved the flow of that song. It was a great ballad of the 80s. Every time I have heard this song come on the radio over the years it was like a golden moment when you turn up the radio and get lost in the song.
Legendary album, struck us like lightning in 87, one of a handful of bands keeping rock alive at the time.
They ROCKED! 🎸
Hysteria is a classic.
Def Leppard are not a metal band, therefore they can't even be categorized near as a "hair" band.

Def Leppard is one of my all tie favorite bands. All members are so talented and I was always impressed the way they stood by Rick Allen after his accident. This band made me happy every time I played their music, and they still do. I started following them in 1983 and have been a loyal fan ever since. Hysteria always reminds me of my school trip to Washington DC in fall 1988. Pulled out my yellow Sony Walkman, put on my cheap headphones, hit play. Looking out the school bus window with the sun rays and trees passing by. Music always takes you back to specific moments..
Gods Of War is an under appreciated song from this album.
I agree. Every track is pretty great.
It’s a GREAT song.
Ironically, I had a bad car accident with this song rolling on the tape deck. I DEMANDED that cassette be retrieved from my car! (This was in 2000--I'd had the tape since 1987. Lol) 23 years after my accident--that tape is tucked away in a safe.
@@melissahall818 That's an amazing story, I'm glad you're ok.
Thank you.
They wanted Star Wars for the ears. Love it!
I thought that was cool!
I truly believe they reached their goal.
Absolute timeless song. Still sounds fresh today. And it’s a masterpiece album. True magical mysteria. Love these videos. Keep the fire burning!
I’ll just never forget seeing them on tour for this album as a teenager. Amazing times!
The part Def Leppard played in my 20s - I can't describe it. It's in my blood.
You presented this perfectly, classic album deserves this honest emotional review
The passion and love for the music. The time and dedication. Is a great gift you give to many people. I wish to you great success and happiness!
Great memories. Such a classic album.
Steve Clark was that underneath Def Leopard sound. In the round in your face was my first concert i ever attended live!
CLASS!
I love all of their music we cannot forget high and dry that was the beginning of the desire to listen to Def Leppard
I love this record and I'll never forget the first time I heard it. Def Leppard was my doorway from Top 40 into hard rock and heavy metal and I'll be forever grateful for that.
Steve Clark saved D.L.- he was the composer and main writer for all the songs except 2. They profited much more than expected because of HIM.❤❤❤❤
MY FAVORITE Def Leppard song, I've listened to it easily 1000 times.
